I'm Tom. Since I entered Grade 9, I  busier. So when I had free time, I lost myself in watching game shows. I thought it was relaxing. However, my parents thought it wasn't healthy to just watch shows. As a result, I  to go outside to relax.

During the summer holiday, my parents made a  to have a family trip—— we would go to Penang in Malaysia. I was a little reluctant(不情愿的) at first, but I soon got excited when I saw the pictures of its beautiful beaches online. When we arrived there, everything there  to welcome us. We ate Malaysian yellow noodles. They were  than I had thought! Also, we mainly visited Weld Quay.It's a really old place with houses of the Chinese traders from 100 years ago. Standing there, I just wondered what life was like there  . I really liked walking around the town.

On the second day, we arrived at the Penang Hill. We waited over an hour for the train  the large crowd. While waiting, we played some small games to kill time, which made the long wait feel much shorter. After getting to the top, I was surprised at the beautiful view. What a nice day! I was tired and hungry, I felt truly happy and relaxed.

This experience taught me that a good way for us to relax is to do outdoor  . Playing outside with family not only helps us stay active but also brings us closer to each other. Sharing laughter and new discoveries during these moments makes every second truly . In the future, I will spend more time going outdoors.

When it comes to traveling, most people would choose to go with their families or friends. Now, more and more people are choosing new travel buddies (friends) —their pets.

Zeng Qingbin is one such person. In the past eight years, the 35-year-old from Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, traveled across the country with his two pet dogs. In Zeng's eyes, these dogs are like his children. "I'm always dreaming of letting them run freely on grasslands in high mountains," Zeng said.

As traveling with pets becomes more popular in China, the related (相关的) services are also growing.

Zhang Wei who works on pet hiking held about 180 pet trips from 2022 to 2025. Each trip usually included two to five guides for groups of up to 30 owners and their dogs.

"Safety is the most important, and all the guides are trained to deal with various emergencies (各种紧急情况) in the mountains," Zhang said. Before a trip, Zhang's team asks pet owners to fill out a form (表格) about their dogs to make them have a better service.

At the same time, airlines began offering charter flight (包租航班) services for pet owners to travel across the country and even internationally.

In 2024, China's first international charter flight allowing pets landed at Shanghai Pudong International Airport after taking 60 tourists and over 20 pet dogs to Thailand. There will be more trips to South Korea, Southeast Asia and Europe.

"Though domestic (国内的) pet tourism is still in its early going and faces many difficulties, it is becoming more and more popular," experts said.

Zeng is looking forward to having more travel options (选择) for his dogs in the future. "I plan to explore as much as possible with my dogs and let them experience more," said Zeng.

Let's take a look at the products (产品) we use or see in daily life. Smartphones are a good example. Two phones from different companies may look almost the same at first. They both have a nice rectangular (长方形) shape and a big touch screen. But if we take a closer look, we'll find they're not the same at all. One phone may have a great camera that takes beautiful photos even in the dark. The other may have a very strong battery (电池) that lasts for a long time without charging.

How do people think about these similarities and differences? There are different opinions. Some people believe similarities matter most. They think that when things have the same features (特征) , it's easier for us to learn and get used to new things. For example, when we learn a new language, if it has many things in common with our own language—like similar grammar or words—it becomes easier and faster to learn.

However, others believe differences are more important. They stress (强调) differences make our lives more interesting and colourful. The world's many different cultures give us new and special experiences. We can taste all kinds of delicious food and enjoy different forms of art such as traditional crafts or modern paintings. We can also join in exciting traditions that may seem strange but are really fun. If everything in the world were the same, life would be boring and lifeless.

In fact, both similarities and differences are important. We should learn to appreciate similarities because they help us communicate and work better together. For example, in a school project or at work, if team members have similar skills, things can move faster. But we should also value differences. They make our lives richer and help us understand the world better. By respecting and learning from others' cultures, ideas, and ways of life, we can become kinder people and make our world a more friendly and lively place.

What do you usually do on this festival? Clean up the rooms, hang red lanterns (灯笼) or watch the Spring Festival Gala? All of them are traditions during the Spring Festival. But there is another key part to the celebrations: putting up the red Spring Festival couplets!

Couplets, also named duilian, are a special form of literature (文学) in China. They came from taofu in the Zhou Dynasty and people put up couplets on the door to keep away from evil spirits (辟邪). Every Spring Festival, whether (无论) in cities or villages, rich or poor, every family will carefully choose a pair of red couplets and put it up.

Here are a few rules for the couplets. They have two lines. The first line is on the right, and the second line is on the left. Each line must have the same number of words. The second line is similar to the first line in both grammar and artistic conception (构思). Finally, a short phrase called crossing (横批) is also needed to make up the couplets. The words on the couplets are always simple but meaningful, which show people's good wishes.

Nowadays, more and more foreigners begin to celebrate the Spring Festival. Let's take a look at two English couplets with Chinese characteristics (特色).

In short, the Spring Festival is a special tradition for family. The red couplets are more than just decorations. They carry our culture and good wishes for the new year and add more joy to the festival. Now, people in other countries are also learning about this tradition. These couplets are becoming a bridge between China and the world.

Last summer, my brother Leo gave me his old bicycle before he left for college. It was covered in rust (锈), and the paint was old and losing its colour. I never thought I could make it look new again, but Dad said, "Let's try, my son."

We spent two afternoons cleaning and repairing (修理) it. I cleaned every part carefully, while Dad fixed the brakes (车闸). I felt very tired by the time we finished. At first, the bicycle still looked very old. However, Dad smiled and said, "Wait until we paint it." I waited with great excitement, checking every day.

A week later, Dad brought home a can of bright blue paint. That was my favourite colour. Then we began to paint the bicycle together. When the work was finished, it shone under the sun and looked completely new! I felt so proud and happy. But it seemed that I was overjoyed too early.

"Tomorrow," Dad said, "we'll give it to Mike next door. His family does not have enough money to buy a bicycle, and he needs one to go to school."

"What?!" I cried. "But this is my bicycle now! We worked so hard on it."

"Things are more meaningful when they're shared," Dad said gently. "Seeing others happy can fill your heart, too."

The next morning, we brought the bicycle to Mike's house. We also left a note with the words "A free gift for you!" on the bicycle. I rang the bell, and then quickly hid behind a tree with Dad. When Mike saw the bicycle and the note, he was surprised. Then, he jumped onto the seat and rode around happily, shouting, "Thank you, thank you!"

I didn't know who he was thanking, but I felt warm and happy. The bicycle was gone, but I realized something important—sharing is better than keeping something for yourself.

When I was about fourteen, I was going through a really difficult time. I often felt lonely. At school, I didn't have many close friends, so most of the time I just kept1.

In Sweden, we had a class called woodworking. Last term, we needed to make a project, and later we could bring it home. I worked very hard on mine. When it was finally finished, I felt a little proud, but I was more worried. What if (万一) others2 at me? What if they thought my project looked silly?
