To most people, Mount Qomolangma is one of the greatest wonders of the world. It  to con-nect with the sky. On the highest place on the Earth, you will feel like you can touch the sky. But only the best climbers reach the top. And they have to live through the terrible  first. On the mountain, climb-ers must deal with thin air, high cliffs(悬崖) and  weather.

Before 1960, nobody was able to reach the top of Qomolangma from the northern side. Though mountain climbers even called that way the" Death Road", the Chinese climbing team decided to make the climb.

On 24 May, 1960, climbers Liu Lianman, Wang Fuzhou, Qu Yinhua and Gong Bu arrived at the SecondStep. It was 8,600 meters above sea level. Liu  his teammates to step on his shoulders while they were climbing. Bit by bit, the climbers pulled themselves up, and they made it past the Second Step. At 4:20a. m. on 25 May, the national flag  above the world's highest mountain.

In 1975, another Chinese team wanted to make a great  in rock climbing on Qomolangma. This time, a ladder(梯子) was  to the Second Step. Today, most climbers from the north still use the" Chinese Ladder"to reach the top much . In 2020, a third team returned to Qomolangma its height——8,848.86 meters.

Climbing Qomolangma is dangerous. Only a few climbers have reached the top . This means that human curiosity(好奇心) cannot be stopped.

Charlie Cooper is a 16- year- old tennis star in America. He has won many tennis competitions. The Coop-ers feel proud of him. Without doubt, Charlie is1 history in his sport.

Charlie has difficulty in walking and uses a wheelchair because of spina bifida(脊柱裂). At around age eleven, he2 someone with the same disability. The man told him about a local wheelchair tennis training center."Many people like us train there. You can have a try too" the man said. Charlie then 3 to give it a try and fell in love with the sport at once.

Cooking is a necessary life skill. However, I never thought I could do it myself. Until one day, I1 how much time my parents spent in cooking. I decided to take on some of the cooking.

At first, I was nervous about using knives. But my parents2 me."Just try it" they said. I started with simple tasks like cutting up vegetables and mixing fruits for salads. I also learned to control the heat to3 burning the dishes.

Of course, I4 challenges. For example, there were times when I burned food or5 too much salt. However, with practice, I became better.

In a word, learning to cook has been a valuable lesson for me. It taught me to be patient, and responsible.

Sarah didn't like the clothes her mom laid out——a shiny pink dress."I' ll choose my own clothes for picture day," she said. Her mom sighed but agreed.

Labor Day isn't just a day off school. It's a time to show what you can achieve through . For example, a group of students managed to do something special on that day. While exploring the area, they found a garden. It used to be full of nice flowers and green plants, but it had been left unattended for many years. Then, they planned to  to change it into a beautiful place.
