Nowadays, more and more Chinese teenagers are becoming homebodies (someone who enjoys being at home) . They  (很少) or never play sports outside. The problem should get plenty of  (关注)  of parents.

My Best Friend

Friends are very important in my life.

My name is Pingo. I am  two-year-old emperor penguin (帝企鹅). I live in Antarctica (南极洲) with all the other emperor penguins. There are no emperor penguins anywhere else in the world.

Together with many other kinds of penguins, we make up a group. We spend

 But in western culture,"cat"is often used to describe a woman who is unkind. There are many other examples of how"cat"is used differently as well. 

The rose is regarded as a symbol of love in both China and some western countries. 

The words about plants and animals are used in good or bad ways in different cultures. We can learn about many differences in cultures by comparing how some words are used.

As Daddy's only daughter, I knew what made my Daddy more wonderful than all the other fathers I'd ever seen or heard of—his large hands.

Daddy had long smart fingers (指头) that could make lots of paper toys for me to play with. His hands could tie my hair beautifully. That's why I felt happy when the other students talked about my hairstyle. I kept it to myself for years. His hands could paint a second-hand bike to look new. I got one on my tenth birthday.

Daddy's creative hands were also useful and hard-working. They could fly a kite high in the sky as well as get it down from the top of a tree. They could wash my white dress clean, which was my favourite one. To my surprise, those hands fed seven children after Mum died. Daddy always tried his best to do everything for me.

Not only were Daddy's hands great, they could also send me a note full of love. When I was ill, he made me feel better. He would take a small blanket (毯子),warm it up and wrap it around my small cold feet with his loving hands. When I was worried about something, Daddy would often hand me a cup of hot milk and talk with me. He would say "The best is always to come, my dear." to relax my heart.

Daddy's hands were fantastic. They had the knowledge (知识) and power to move mountains. They made the impossible possible.

Many people like to travel when they have time off from school or work. They might go to their hometown to see their family, or travel somewhere far. But not everyone does this. More and more people are choosing (选择) to take a "staycation".

A staycation is a new word for a period of time when people stay at home on vacation or take day trips from their home to local (当地的) places of interest. Some people might travel around their city, visiting local parks and museums. Others might try countryside trips and take part in local festivals. People like me love to just stay at home.

I had a staycation of my own over the summer. I slept late every day. I worked on music and played video games. I wasn't too lonely. I had my cat to play with, and I got together with some of my friends around the city.

Traveling is fun, but it's also nice to just stay at home and relax. It's cheaper as well, since I don't have to pay for travel. And you can choose to do whatever you like or, if you want, just do nothing. There's nothing wrong with that.

In rain forests, the fig tree gives food and a home to all kinds of animals. Figs were so useful to the people of ancient times that many believed figs were gifts from the gods. In Greece, another country in Europe, figs were so precious (珍贵的) that people weren't even allowed to sell them to other countries. Back then in Greece, there was no sugar, so people used sweet figs to make cooked fruits and food taste better. 

Figs can be black, green, purple or white, and all of them are delicious! Fresh figs break easily, so they are often dried, to make them easier to keep and carry around. Fresh figs are full of healthy vitamins (维生素) and dried figs have even more good things. So why not feast on figs? Your body will thank you a lot.
