Hello, everyone! My favorite saying is " ▲". 

There were two brothers named John and Joey in a small town. They were two  (talent) boys. They showed great talents at an early age and they did much  (well) than their classmates.

Parents play an important role in developing children's autonomy (自主能力). What can parents do to help their children?

Do not help children do what they can do on their own. When children wash socks or clean the table, it may take longer to do these things.  However, it's important to give children time and space to learn.

Let children make decisions. To develop children's autonomy, children have to choose for themselves.  When children make simple choices, they can have a sense of ownership (主人翁意识) over their lives.

Ask children to work out problems themselves. When children start learning maths, they make mistakes many times in different exercises.  It is necessary for young children to try to work out difficulties themselves, though their first try may not be excellent.

 When children do something wrong, parents can teach them to learn from mistakes. If children are not afraid of making mistakes, they will be more likely to try new activities. It is good for them.

Eat healthily. ____ It's important to eat vegetables and fruit every day. It's also a good idea to eat less sugar and drink more water.

Move more and sit less. Although about 150 minutes of exercise a week is good, experts say that any activity is better than nothing. So try to stand up more often and do more activities.

Get enough sleep. Most people need about 7-9 hours of sleep each night. If you feel tired when you do an activity, or if you need to drink coffee to make you not sleep, you may not get enough sleep. It's not easy to get enough sleep, but it is a must for good health.

Don't exercise by yourself. When you exercise, ask a friend to go with you. He or she can encourage you when you feel tired. Then you will not stop exercising halfway.

Everybody knows that cats like to sleep. They spend more than half their lives sleeping and enjoy every minute of it. Other animals have different sleeping habits however. Horses may not look like they are asleep. But they are! Horses spend about six hours sleeping every day and they do it standing up!

Fish also sleep every day but they have a strange (奇怪的) habit. They don't close their eyes when they are sleeping. When ducks sleep, they keep one eye open and half of the brain awake. It helps them stay alert (警觉的) and watch out for dangerous animals.

So what about humans (人类)? Well, most people sleep for about a third of their lives. The number of hours you sleep, however, has to do with your age. Most newborn (新生的) babies sleep a lot. They spend about 75% of their time sleeping every day! As you get older, you need less sleep. Children need about eleven hours and adults sleep for eight hours every night.

So, yes, you spend many hours a year doing nothing—sleeping in bed!

But you're not just asleep—you're not really doing nothing. Your body and your mind relax during this time, but a lot of things happen during sleep. Dreams are one way that the mind relaxes after a busy day. A person spends about 20% of every night dreaming. That means you have about four or five dreams every night or about 1,600 dreams a year.

A sloth (树懒) walks slowly, but we like it very much. Sloths live in the forests of South and Central America. They move so slowly that algae (海藻) grow on their bodies. They give sloths a green colour that helps them to hide from predators in the forest.

This green is a lucky "color" for sloths. That's because most of them are too slow to run away from predators. And they are even slower on the ground than they are in the trees. Some walk only four meters every minute on the ground.

Why do sloths move so slowly? It has a lot to do with their food. Sloths may all look the same to us. But in fact there are two main kinds of sloths. One has two toes on the forelimbs (前肢) while the other has three. The two-toed sloths eat both plants and animals. And the three-toed sloths eat mainly tree leaves and flower buds.

Leaves and buds provide very little energy. Sloths save energy by not moving very often. They sleep and rest a lot. Some even sleep up to twenty hours a day!

Sloths are rare (稀有的) now. We must protect them. Nobody can hunt them in South and Central America.

Confucius (孔子) was a great teacher in ancient China. He had many students, and two of them were very different. One was named Yan Hui, and the other was named Zigong. Yan Hui was quiet and shy. He always listened  (careful) to Confucius. Zigong was outgoing and loud. He liked to ask many questions.

Yan Hui was hard-working and always tried his best to learn. He had  simple life and was very honest. Zigong was clever and good at business. He traveled a lot and made many friends. Despite (尽管) their  (different), they both respected Confucius and learned from him.

 Try to start a conversation. If you find it hard to do so, say something nice about people around you. Think about how great you feel when someone says something nice to you. Doesn't it make you want to keep talking to those people?

 Don't waste time worrying about your looks or if people like you. Think more about ways to enjoy the party or the game.

Keep trying and one day you won't be "shy" anymore when you talk to others.
