China is a long way from my home in England. There are many cultural (difference). I thought I would often feel homesick in China, I'm surprised to find that I usually feel right at home. I think it's because my mom is like Chinese person! Every time we see each other, the first thing she'll (sure) say is, "Did you eat?"

When I was growing up, she often told me, "What we eat isn't just food, but also the culture of this country." At that time, my mom (show) interest in world foods. She made German dishes, French dishes, and especially Chinese dishes. I still remember the days when the smell filled the room sweetness.

More interestingly, if she makes more typical (典型) English soup, it (have) a little Chinese touch. So whenever I try a dish in China like roast sweet potato (烤红薯), I'll think, wow! This is just like my mom's cooking! wonderful memories I have!

English cooking can be boring, but my mom loves mixing all kinds of spices (香料) and food together to create (delicious) taste in the world. She is always creative in making food that her family will love.

The food culture in the UK doesn't seem as big it is in China. But it was more important in our home. Food is something that brings us together and gives us joy, just as it does here in China.

Nowadays, technology is everywhere—           What do you think of it? Drop your story or share below!

    Michael                                               3 hours ago

Technology can be good, but I think it is making us ruder. That's because many people use it for bad things and they don't realize that their actions will greatly influence other people's lives. For example, some may post rude comments (评论) online and change photos to make people uncomfortable or even afraid. What's worse, they can do this easily. Others may even use false identities (身份) to collect personal information and take people's money without asking. To keep away from them, kids should visit safe websites only, and parents should watch over their kids' social-media habits. It's our job to do well by not being rude online.

    Judy                                               1 hour ago

I think technology is making us kinder. It's true that unkind people are pretty common online, but we can report their bad actions without giving our names. After that, they will get into trouble. Some video games even encourage users to help each other, and in this way, people learn to be kind. Plus, social media helps us remember important dates, such as birthdays. This makes us able to share experiences with other people. Through technology, we can contact each other without traveling far. Some people believe technology is pulling us apart, but in fact it is pulling us together.

(1)、Where can you probably find the text?
    A、In a diary. B、In an interview. C、On a forum. D、In an email.
(2)、How did Michael make his opinion clear?
    A、 B、 C、 D、
(3)、Bob gave Judy a. Which of the following comments might be from Bob?
A、"Nah, I think technology just makes people ruder online." B、"Exactly! Technology really makes us nicer and closer!" C、"Good idea! Technology is helpful for our studying!" D、"Hmm, I think it still depends on how people use it."
(4)、What might David ask in      ?
A、Does it make people ruder or kinder? B、Does it make people lazier or busier? C、Does it make people happier or sadder? D、Does it make people healthier or sicker?
  • 14、Imagine after a long day of classes and homework, you're already tired out—but there's still a bunch of housework waiting for you—mopping the floor, washing the dirty dishes, tidying up your messy desk, and folding mountains of clothes. Worst of all, it's not a one-off—you have to do this every day! Boring, even silly! However, according to a new study, housework can be quite helpful to children.

In mid-2025, scientists did an online survey (调查) about kids' housework.207 kids aged 5–13 from 15 countries took part in it. The results show that girls have a higher participation rate (参与率) than boys. For example, only 49.5% of boys make their beds, but 70.1% of girls do so. Age also matters. Making a hot meal for themselves is done by 53.3% of the kids. But only 8% of 5-7-year-olds can do it, and the number goes up to 59.2% for 11-13-year-olds.

Scientists also found that housework can build children's life skills, such as executive functioning (执行功能). When those children did several things at the same time, they could do them really well. A worker said, "Housework needs organizing, planning and self-control. Usually, these skills grow in early childhood and will be important in late teenage years."

However, poor development of executive functioning can make it difficult to have the ability to plan and solve problems. They may also influence their reading skills, math abilities and other school performances in later childhood.

(1)、How does the writer lead in the topic in Paragraph 1?
    A、By describing a situation. B、By asking a question. C、By giving an example. D、By using a saying.
(2)、Which of the following is TRUE according to the survey results?
A、Fewer than 50% of girls make their own beds. B、Over 50% of 11-13-year-olds can cook hot meals. C、Boys do more housework than girls in most situations. D、More than 10% of 5-7-year-olds can make hot meals.
(3)、Which question can be answered in Paragraph 3 and 4?
A、Which housework helps kids the most? B、How can kids learn housework? C、Why is housework important for kids? D、When should kids do housework?
(4)、What might kids do after reading the text?
A、Be glad to help with housework. B、Pay attention to their schoolwork. C、Do an online survey among friends. D、Ask their parents to do housework.
