Vera: Hi, Ella.  I went on a trip to Jiangxi and visited the Poyang Lake. 

Ella: Wow! I heard it was a great place for boating.  ?

Vera: Yes. I went there with my parents.  ?

Ella: Well, I went to Xi' an with my parents. 

Vera: Great! Did you visit the Terra Cotta Warriors?

Ella: We visited it on the second day. I really liked it. 

Vera: ?

Ella: We stayed there for five days. And we enjoyed ourselves there. 

Vera: I'm looking forward to going there. 

When I am free, I love visiting my grandparents' farm. Last weekend, my parents  me to the farm. But thinking of what had happened last  , I didn't think that I could be helpful on the farm.

"You did a good job, Peter. You saved all our vegetables. We always tell the neighbors that  grandson is very smart, " said Grandpa. 

I looked at Grandpa and said, "I don't think I'm smart. I made a careless mistake last summer. "

"Peter, being smart doesn't mean you never make . We only lost some roses last summer, but the rest of them were OK, " said Grandma. I felt  at my grandma's words. 

"There's also one thing we need your help, " said Grandpa. "We got all the parts of the new computer,  it can't work. "

"I can help with that, " I said  . From then on, I understood everyone could do his or her part in life. 

Having a school trip is fun and it's a great way to learn new things. It brings students wonderful experiences. So how do you make the school trip more meaningful?

 Pack(收拾) your bag with everything you need, such as a water bottle, snacks, and maybe a camera to take pictures. Also, think about what you want to learn from this trip.

Pay attention to and follow the rules.  Also, don't go alone and tell your teacher if you have any problems. 

◇After the trip

Think about what you have done and have learned. Share your experiences with your family.  All of these can help you remember the fun moments and what you have learned.

Do you feel bored when you don't have anything to do during the vacation? You can try the following activi-ties. I'm sure you will have a different vacation. 

Take exercise. Most people say they will do sports every day to keep strong and healthy. But sometimes, it is difficult for them to hold on. You can join a team to play sports with others. That can help you make more friends and keep on exercising. 

Start your"holiday business". Do you have some old things? You can sell your old clothes and toys for money. Are you an animal lover? If you are, you can make some money by walking people's dogs when they are busy. 

Do some helpful things for others. There are many Love Restaurants in China. They give free lunch to people in need. So it's a good idea to work in one of them. Also, it is great to collect different kinds of books for students in some village schools. When we help others, we can also be happy.

Wang Li studies in Shanghai now. Last summer vacation, she went to Luoyang with her parents and stayed there for a few days. 

They tried Henan noodles on the first day. There were so many kinds of noodles that Wang Li and her family didn't try all of them. Then, they went to the National Flower Park of China to see the peonies(牡丹). But there were no peonies in July. What a pity! The hot weather in summer was bad for peonies' growth. Wang Li thought they should come here earlier to enjoy the beautiful peoples next year. 

On the second day, they got up early in the morning to visit the Luoyi ancient town. They saw many beautiful buildings. There were also many hanfu shops on the street. Wang Li and her family w ore hanfu and took a lot of beautiful photos there. 

On the third day, they went to the famous Laojun Mountain after breakfast. It took them a few hours to get to the top of the mountain. Although they were tired that day, they were all happy. 

On the last day of their vacation, they went to the Luoyang Museum. A guide showed them around and told them stories about the cultural relics(文物). Then, they knew more about Luoyang.

Hello, everyone! I am a little pink rose, and I am only one month old now. I am beautiful and  because many people use me to express love. But I have a lot of little thorns(刺). Do you know the reason?

All kinds of  in the world have thorns, and most thorn s grow on our stems(茎). These thorns are our natural feature. And they are also a key part of us.  , these thorns don't hurt others. We have thoms to  water. Our thorns help us survive(存活) in the dry  . Importantly, they are there to  our leaves and flowers. Sometimes, we can give off a good smell from our bodies. Though the smell often attracts(吸引) some birds or other animals to eat us, our thorns protect us  some animals. So thorns are the most important parts of us,  they play an important role in our sur-vival. 

Every plant has  own characteristics(特点). I hope  can live with animals and plants without harming them. 

Sugar is important in our lives. Many kinds of food are used to produce sugar and sugar gives us energy.  Most of it is from sugar cane. Sugar cane's growth needs a lot of good soil and sunlight. It takes 10 to 16 months to grow, and sometimes even 18 to 24 months. But how does it turn into sugar? Let's have a look!

 Then the workers put the sugar cane pieces into different machines. Some of these machines wash the cane(茎). Some machines crush(挤压) the sugar cane pieces. 

Second, workers will put some things into the sugar cane juice.  These things can help workers remove non-sugar substances(非糖物质) from the juice to get purer sugar cane juice. 

 And this is syrup(糖浆). People put the syrup into a special box to turn the syrup into crys-tals(晶体). 

Finally, a machine is needed to dry the crystals. After drying, we can get clean white sugar. 

A bee buzzes. A bat(蝙蝠) flies at night. A bear walks through a forest. These different animals are part of the process of growing plants. 

Plants grow from seeds(种子). The seeds come from the fertilized(受精) ovule(胚珠). The pollen and seeds are made in the plant's flowers. To achieve fertilization and produce seeds, pollen has to move from one part of the plant to another part. Pollen also moves from one plant to another plant. How does pollen get from one place to another?

Sometimes bees and bats carry it. Bees and bats fly to flowers to get food. They fly from one flower to another flower. Along the way, they touch pollen. Pollen sticks to their bodies. When bees or bats move to a new flower, pollen falls. Then the plant achieves fertilization and produces seeds. 

▲ So how do seeds get from the plant to the earth? Sometimes bats, bears, and bison(野牛) help out. 

A bear finds a blueberry bush. A fruit-eating bat hangs in a banana tree. A bison eats fruits. When these animals eat fruits, they are also eating seeds. The seeds go in with the food. Later, they come out in the animal's drop-pings. The seeds in the droppings grow into plants. Sometimes seeds stick to the fur of bears and hison. When those animals lie down, the seeds can drop to the ground. A new plant can grow there. 

Plants grow from the seeds. Flowers grow on plants. Flowers produce pollen. Pollen makes seeds. Hungry bees, bats, bears and bison go looking for food. Now it starts all over again. 

Bamboo is a highly valuable plant in China due to its economic and cultural significance. People always use it to describe a good person. 

There is a bamboo forest in Sichuan. Hundreds of millions of bamboo plants cover 27 mountains and more than 500 hills. The Bamboo Sea in southern Sichuan is the largest natural bamboo forest in the world. It is said that there are 428 kinds of bamboo plants. Among them, the Nan Bamboo grows fastest and covers more than 45square kilometres of the mountainsides. And it is able to grow from shoots to bamboo plants in just 40 days and grow into woods within 4 years. Bamboo is the most valuable renewable resource(可再生资源) in mountainous areas. These areas are surrounded by clouds all year round. In summer, you can see green everywhere, and in winter, everything turns white. 

There is a bamboo scene with mountains and lakes, as well as many rivers running through this bamboo sea. Waterfalls fall from the sides of mountains, creating a great scene. Deep in the bamboo forest, on the level ground surrounded by mountains, there is a clear lake called the"Sea within the Sea". Only by taking a bamboo raft(竹筏) and moving along the rivers can you truly enjoy the beauty of this wonderful green world.
