④ When you meet Indians, it is important to say hello to the oldest person first. But you'd better not hold out your left hand when you say hello, because it is impolite. Also, many Indians are enthusiastic and they like to say hello actively and have a conversation with you when you travel in India. 

⑤Customs in different countries are like different flowers, forming a beautiful garden together. Learning to respect others' ways is like giving a friendly smile. It can bring people's hearts closer.

I work as a waiter in a cafe. I spend the morning hours with coffee and see friendly customers every day. But there are always those mornings when a few unwanted customers come in. They often ask for coffee without looking at me directly. Some customers are impolite and they think that customers are always right.

Do you know National Chopsticks Day? For about one quarter of the world's population, chopsticks are their main eating tools for every meal. Just as Western children learn to use a knife and fork, many Asian children learn to use chopsticks, and they quickly become good at using them. To many Asian people, forks are odd tools. 

Chopsticks can be made of wood, bamboo, plastic, bone, fine china or metal. In China they are called kuaizi. Chopsticks originated(起源于) inChina over 3, 000 years ago, and are used in many Asian countries. How their use was introduced to other countries is not known. 

Take part in National Chopsticks Day, and use chopsticks for all of your meals. You can eat any food with chopsticks on the day. To make the day really special, use chopsticks to eat a homemade Chinese dish. Have fun with chopsticks on the day. Play a game with them. For example, pick up peanuts or beans with chopsticks. 

Chopstick manners

The improper use of chopsticks is impolite or insulting(侮辱的). Don't stick chopsticks upright into your food. It's an insult. Don't point at people with them. Don't put the ends of your chopsticks in your mouth. 

Do you ever speak with your mouth full of food? Do you talk on the phone loudly when you are on the bus? If you do, then perhaps you should take etiquette(礼仪) classes. These classes will teach you good manners and how to behave in social situations. 

Maggie is a teacher who teaches classes like these at Dongfang School. Her students are aged between six and twelve years old. She thinks this is the best time to teach kids. "At this age they are very easy to teach, " Maggie says. "When they get older, it's harder for them to break bad habits. Children at this age want to be courteous(有礼貌的). You can see that they' re trying. "

Table manners are different in different countries. How to be a good guest? Here is something for each one of us. 

Before Dinner

1. Come to the table with your face and hands clean. 

2. Stay seated and sit up straight. 

3. Don't bring your phone to the table. 

During Dinner

1. Start eating when everyone else does. 

2. Don't talk with your mouth full. 

3. Say"please" when you ask people to help you with something. 

After Dinner
