4、As one of the most important festivals in China, the Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated in many traditional ways. Here are some of the most popular traditional celebrations.
Enjoying a good dinner with family.
Chinese people think the round shape of the moon stands for the reunion of the family. The most common way to celebrate is to have dinner with the family on the evening of the Mid-Autumn Festival. The public holiday (usually 3 days) is mainly for Chinese people to have enough time to return home. Those people who stay too far away from their parents' homes usually get together with their friends.
Eating mooncakes.
Mooncakes are the must-eat food at the Mid-Autumn Festival. Most mooncakes are sweet. There are some mooncakes that have special flavors, for example, the salty mooncakes with meat. People eat mooncakes or give mooncakes to their relatives or friends as presents to express their love and best wishes.
Admiring the moon. (赏月)

5、Dead To Rights

As the world marks (纪念) the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism, a moving Chinese film, Dead To Rights (officially titled in English, known in Chinese as《南京照相馆》), gives us a special look at history. Unlike traditional war movies that focus on battlefields, it tells a story through a small photo studio during the 1937 Nanjing Massacre.
In the fallen city, ordinary people find safety in Jixiang Photo Studio. One of them is a postman, played by Liu Haoran. He pretends to be an apprentice. Forced to develop films for Japanese soldiers, he accidentally finds photos that show their cruel crimes. At first, they fight just to stay alive—but soon, this becomes a mission (任务) to guard the truth. They promise to pass on this solid evidence, no matter what.
Dead To Rights tries something new with its "small people witnessing big history" story. It turns national pain into a shared memory on screen. Its success comes not only from careful technical work. Realistic sets, the local dialect (方言) and other small but meaningful details all play a part. More importantly, it connects with people's feelings. When the studio owner Lao Jin shouts," Every inch of our beautiful land must never be given up," or when modern Nanjing streets are intercut (镜头切换) with wartime ruins, viewers see not just history coming to life like a photo, but a symbol of a strong, unbroken civilization (文明).
The film does not show big war scenes. Instead, it uses the photo studio to show how ordinary people wake up and fight back in the big waves of history. It makes audiences feel deeply the great sacrifices (牺牲) our ancestors made to protect truth and dignity. It is a serious look back and a deep thought on history. This is also proof of why it is called Dead To Rights—the solid evidence (证据), kept safe by courage, always reminds us to remember the past and cherish (珍惜) today's peace.
(1)、Why does the postman pretend to be an apprentice?A、To learn photo-taking skills. B、To work for Japanese soldiers. C、To find a safe place to hide. D、To take photos of crimes.(2)、The phrase "fight just to stay alive" in Paragraph 2 means the people ________.A、wanted to live through the hard time B、tried to win a big fight C、planned to take back their city D、hoped to become brave fighters(3)、What helps Dead To Rights succeed according to the passage?A、Only realistic sets and local dialects. B、Big war scenes and famous actors. C、Technical work and emotional connection. D、Sad stories and old photos.(4)、When modern Nanjing streets are intercut with wartime ruins, viewers can feel ________.A、how fast Nanjing has changed B、the unbroken spirit of the civilization C、why the war started D、what life was like in the past -

12、When my daughter was in primary school, she brought home four small twigs (树枝) one day. Her teacher gave these twigs to the students to grow. My husband and I grew them outside our house with my daughter. However, three of them died. Only one still grew but it didn't grow very tall.
A few years later, I saw the only twig started to die. The lower branches (树枝) became poor. Only the top was still green. I did my best to save it, but it didn't work.
Later one morning, I went out and looked at it again. I wondered if it would be better to just cut it down. However, I saw something moving on the branches. It was a robin (知更鸟) building its home there! I was surprised when I looked at it. I thought maybe this tree was still useful. It might not be healthy or beautiful, but it still gave a bird a home. It made me know that nothing is meaningless. Until we die, we still have things to do, love to give, and joy to share.
阅读短文,根据短文内容回答下面问题。
(1)、How many twigs did the writer's family grow?(2)、What was the only twig like a few years later?(3)、Did the writer cut down the twig?(4)、How did the writer feel when she saw the robin?(5)、What does the passage want to tell us? -
13、Every year, millions of birds are killed or hurt when they fly into buildings. Why does this happen? Birds are flying into windows and tall buildings that are all covered by glass.
Many birds fly from one place to another. Most of the time, they live in the wild, such as forests and wetlands. They might see small trees and flowers inside a window and want to rest on these plants. The birds do not know there is glass between them and the plants.
Some birds fly at night. They use the moon and stars to help guide them in the right direction. Tall buildings with lights on at night can confuse (迷惑) the birds. The birds see the light, but they cannot tell that the light is coming from inside a building. They fly toward the light and crash into a building. On many mornings, there might be several dead birds lying on the ground.
Many office buildings now turn off their lights at night. This helps reduce the number of birds that fly into buildings and it also helps save energy.
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。
A. The answer is glass.
B. People are trying to solve the problem.
C. These birds have no idea what glass is.
D. As a result, they fly right into the glass.
E. This is a big problem, especially on foggy and rainy nights.

It's Mother's Day today. In the morning, my brother and I woke up early and cooked breakfast for Mum. This doesn't happen often.

15、A study points out that parents can take some key steps to raise children well. So, the parent-child relation is very important.
Parents bring warmth (温暖) to children's lives. They usually shower kids with love and support. As a child grows older, he finds warmth in the parent-child relation in other ways. Warmth can lead children to do very well in all things.
In fact, parents are the children's role models. They can teach children not to depend on parents or others. They are also very strict with children. That's to say, children must do as they are told. Setting limits (限制) can help children focus on (集中) the work. For example, limiting television time can help them finish homework on time.
From early childhood, the home becomes a school. And the dinner table might become the desk after dinner. Parents will educate their children much if the parent-child relation is strong. For example, reading books to them will improve their language skills and playing games with them will help them think.
Mom and Dad play different roles in children's lives. Moms are their life teachers. They teach children not to be afraid of new environments. 16、Friends play an important part in our lives. Teenager Centre did a survey on "What do you think the most important thing about a friendship is?" 360 teenagers took part in the survey. The following is the result. Dr Allen wrote a report about it. Let's read it together.

Honesty is where a good friendship starts. You must tell true feelings to your friends. Keep their secrets to yourself and never break promises, or you may lose your friends.
Generosity means sharing, and sharing makes the friendship grow. You don't have to give your lunch money or your clothes, of course. Instead, you share your ideas and feelings.
Understanding can be valuable to a friend. Everyone needs understanding and help with a problem. Talking about the problem can make it easier to solve. You must try to put yourself in your friend's place, so you can understand the problem better.
No two friendships are ever exactly alike (相像的). But all true friendships may have some things in common. In fact, good friendships will just not easily last. Many people want others to be their friends, but they don't give the friendship back. That is one of the reasons why some friendships don't last very long. Therefore, to keep a lasting friendship, you must give as much as you take.
