Many people wonder how to recall (回忆) information quickly before exams. Walking backward (朝后) may be a good way. Scientists from the University of Roehampton said it can help improve people's short-term memory.

Researchers asked 114 volunteers to watch a video. After watching the video, the volunteers were divided into three groups. One group was told to walk 10 meters forward. The second group walked 10 meters backward. The third group stood in one place. All three groups were then asked 20 questions about what they saw in the video.

The scientists found that the backward-walking group got two more answers correct on average than the other two groups.

This shows that the connection between time and space is important for our memories. "Time is really expressed via (通过) space," Aleksandar Aksentijevic, who led the study, told the Daily Mail. When you walk backward, you see things from a different angle (角度). This difference helps people recall things that happened in the past.

And walking backward is also good for the rest of our body. Compared to walking forward, walking backward is more challenging. This can help us improve our fitness, according to New Scientist. Walking backward uses more energy in a short time and burns more calories.

In addition, walking backward is less stressful for our knees. It could be helpful for people who often have pain in their knees, according to researchers from the University of Oregon. Walking backward also keeps our spines (脊柱) strong, which can help to ease (缓解) pain in the lower back. This might be why many old people like walking backward.

Don't Chase Perfection.

Real rest isn't sleeping all day or staying up late on your phone. That only makes you more tired. Try active rest. Do gentle things that help your body and mind recover.  Choose one or two small things each day to recharge (充电).

Pay attention to how you talk to yourself. When things go wrong, don't be too hard on laoji. Try saying, "It's okay," or "I'll try again next time."

The drama Born to Be Alive brings us to a mysterious world. However, the show is just a window. Outside the window is the real Sanjiangyuan. It is not only the source region of the Yangtze, Yellow, and Lancang rivers, but also the home of the brave guardians (守护者).

Located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Hoh Xil is a mysterious part of the Sanjiangyuan area. With an altitude (海拔) of over 4,600 meters, Hoh Xil has thin air, and the wind cuts like a knife. Many years ago, the beautiful land faced a dark time. Thousands of Tibetan antelopes (藏羚羊) were hunted for their wool. The land, once peaceful, was covered with blood. As a result, they almost disappeared from the earth.

To stop the killing, a group of heroes stood up. They are the real-life models for the characters in the drama. One of them is Jetsun Dargye. In the 1990s, with old tools and little food, he and his team fought against cruel hunters in the freezing wild. In a final battle, he was shot but refused to fall. He froze into a statue (雕像) in the snow, holding his gun to protect the land. His death woke up the whole nation. In 1997, Hoh Xil was upgraded to a national nature reserve.

Thanks to these efforts, the antelopes run free again. In the main area of Hoh Xil, the population of Tibetan antelopes has risen from less than 20,000 to over 70,000. The guardians used their lives to teach us a lesson: The "Tree of Life" does not grow on soil alone. It grows on the courage to protect and the wisdom to coexist (共存). Protecting nature is, indeed, protecting ourselves.

We are all familiar with banks where we save money, but have you ever heard of a "Food Bank"? In Shenzhen's Futian District, you will find smart boxes that look like package lockers. They provide free, fresh food day and night to those in need.

Starting in May 2022, the project has been a team effort involving the government, companies and social organizations. To date, 22 smart boxes across Futian's 10 streets are filled with various safe foods.

Just like a traditional bank, this system relies on "deposits (存入)" and "withdrawals (取出)". The "deposits" come from 87 partner enterprises which donate (捐赠) extra or soon-to-expire (临期的) items. A touching example is the "veteran steamed buns" — funded and handmade by a retired soldier using his pension (养老金), which have become a local favorite.

The "withdrawals", however, work differently. The owners don't take the food back. It is offered to the vulnerable. First, the food is saved for low-income families, the disabled and street cleaning workers via the "i Shenzhen" App before 8 p.m. To reduce waste, the leftover (余下的) food is open to everyone after 8 p.m.

Safety is the top concern. The food bank follows strict rules: boxes are kept at a low temperature, all food sources are known and officials do regular checks.

By December 2025, the project had helped 484,000 people, saving 195 tons of food from waste and reducing carbon emissions by 390 tons. These food banks help people in more ways. They bring people together and help protect the environment. They are a shining model of Shenzhen's creative and kind urban (城市的) care.

At 3:00 a.m., Wang Longlong's phone lit up again: another QR-code (二维码) payment. Someone was "stealing" sugarcane (甘蔗) from his field in the middle of the night. Instead of feeling1 , Wang smiled — this was exactly what he wanted.

In Zhejiang Province, Wang's sugarcane field had become the 2 new "check-in" spot for city people looking for nighttime fun. The unexpected popularity all started with an internet 3 .

Xinhui, a place in Guangdong, is famous for Chen Pi—the dried and aged peel of tangerines (橘子).

Chinese people have used it in cooking and traditional Chinese medicine  a long time. With its special flavor, people often add it to tea and dishes, such as the classic Chen Pi duck. It is also helpful for our health. Traditional Chinese doctors may give you medicine with Chen Pi you cough.

It's easy to make Chen Pi at home. Cut fresh tangerines  take off the whole peel. Dry it in the sun for one to three weeks, then put it in an airtight container in a dry, dark place. You need to wait for months or years, and      longer you wait, the better it tastes. You can also buy it in stores, and its color is usually dark orange to black.

Now Chen Pi is becoming more and more popular in China and around the world.
