 "Finnish(芬兰的) schools are the best in Europe, " some might say in the world. Only three countries— China, Singapore, and the Republic of Korea— can compete(竞争) with Finland in study. So, why is it so good?

Surprisingly, Finnish children spend less time at school than the children in many other countries. They don't start school until the age of seven. Their school days are short, and their vacations are long. Studying in Finland is relaxing. Classrooms often look like living rooms. Students don't wear uniforms or formal(正式的) ones and they call teachers by their first names. What's more, they have only 30 minutes of homework each night. 

Many people believe the key is that the teachers are so good. It's a popular and well-paid job, and teachers are usually kind and not strict. Different from those in other countries, they also have their way of teaching. Rather than having separate subjects like history and geography, students learn everything together. There are seven things that Finnish students must learn at school:

· how to think clearly;

· how to understand and join in Finnish culture;

· how to use language and numbers;

· how to use technology;

· how to take care of themselves;

· how to be successful at work;

· how to be a good person for the future of Finland. 

After finishing high school, Finnish students can also get into university(大学) for free. This is very different from the United States, where the cost is around $30, 000!

"Class, please welcome Brady Walker. He is a new student in our class, " Ms Miller says. Then, she asks Brady to say something about himself. 

"I am from California, " says Brady. "I like playing basketball, and I take a dance class too. "

After that, Brady, Alan and I become good friends and we often show our"basketball dance" on the sports field.

Purple, green, orange, red . . . animals have a lot of beautiful and different colours. These colours are important to them. Some animals use the colours to make their enemies(敌人) afraid. And sometimes their enemies cannot see them clearly because their colours are like some other things. Other animals use the colours to find partners. But how do animals have their colours?

Food gives them colours.

Some animals get pigments(色素) from their food. For example, flamingos eat a lot of shrimp or algae. These things have a red-orange pigment. The pigment gives flamingos a pink colour. The more they eat, the pinker they get. 

Body gives them colours.

Animals' body parts, like feathers, scales(鳞片), hair and skin, have special structures. They reflect(反射) light to make animals colourful. This is called structural colours. For example, blue morpho butterflies(蓝闪蝶) have beautiful scales on their wings. These give them a bright blue colour.

Structural colours don't fade(褪色). People use the idea to make special clothes and paints.

We are happy to say that there's a trip to Apple Farm for all the children in Class 2. The trip is on Wednesday. On this trip, your children can learn about farm life and have great fun in the open air(野外).

Black food is very good, but our body needs food of various colours. Food is colourful. Some food is green, some food is red and some is black. It isn't good to always eat food of the same colour. Colourful fruits and vegetables are good for our health. Their colours help us keep healthy. Green is good for our eyes. Blue and purple help us remember things well. They are good for our eyes too. Red gets us healthy hearts. Yellow and orange get us much Vitamin C. 

So we need to eat all kinds of foods. You can take photos of your foods for one week. Then you can use them to know clearly what you eat every day.
