Boys and girls, please read and guess what it is. Every school  one and it is a large and open place. Right! It is the sports field.

Why should a school have a sports field?  students need a place to play sports and have fun. We have a big sports field in  school and it is behind the  building. Many students do morning  on the sports fields every day. It's Friday. We have only two  in the afternoon. When school is over,  students go to the sports field and they spend much time  sports. Look! There  many students on the sports field. Some boys like playing football and some girls like playing volleyball. Football is my favourite sport. I can play it very . It's 5:30 now. It's time to go home.

Judy is a girl from Singapore. Now she is studying in No. 3 High School in Shanghai. It's an international (国际的) school. The teachers and students come from different countries.  There are many buildings in it.

The classroom building is near the school gate. Judy's classroom is on the third floor. There is a smart whiteboard in the front of her classroom.  And the students can also watch teaching videos (教学视频) and draw pictures on it. They all like it. The teachers' building is behind the classroom building. Teachers always work in that building. The sports field is next to the teachers' building.  They think that tennis is interesting.

There is a dining hall next to the sports field.  Behind the dining hall is the library. There are a lot of books in it. Near the library, there is a science hall. Judy learns science there.  That's because science is her favourite subject and she wants to be a scientist in the future.

A 2025 teen survey shows clear differences between Chinese and British middle schools in buildings and activities. 

In most Chinese schools, there is one main classroom building for all lessons. Next to it is a library, and a large sports field is across from the library. We have a canteen between the field and classrooms, and students eat lunch at school every day. After class, many join group activities like drawing and running. 

However, British schools have many small single-subject buildings. Their library is far from classrooms. Most students bring lunch boxes instead of eating at school canteens. Their sports halls are bigger, and they have more ball game clubs after school. 

Experts say no matter the school buildings, a good school has fun activities and kind teachers for students.

Every school has lots of rules for students. Some students hate strict school rules, but teachers have different ideas. 

Students who dislike rules say rules take away their free time. For example, they can't listen to music in classrooms or bring mobile phones to school. They want more freedom at school. 

However, teachers think school rules make a safe and quiet learning place. There is a rule "keep quiet in the library" because everyone needs a quiet place to read. The rule "don't run on the field" can stop students from getting hurt. Without rules, our school will be messy and dangerous. 

In my opinion, school rules are not bad. They help us study well and stay safe. We can enjoy free time during PE and after-school clubs when we follow the rules.
