In 2025I gained a lot and I will work hard to reach my new goals in 2026!

Every morning, in parks all over China, you can see people practicing Tai Chi. This traditional Chinese exercise is known for its slow movements that look  a beautiful dance. 

Tai Chi is more than just exercise——it's an ancient art that helps both the body  mind. It started as a kind of martial art long ago, but today people  (main) use it to stay healthy. While many older people enjoy Tai Chi, it's becoming popular with young people too. Schools and  (community) are starting to offer Tai Chi classes. "I used to think Tai Chi was only for old people, " says Li Ming, a 16-year-old student. " after trying it, I found it helped me focus on my homework and worry less about tests. "

In 2020, it was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List, which meant it's seen as  important part of world culture. Since then, the whole world has become interested in  (learn) Tai Chi. In the future, it's believed that more people  (practice) Tai Chi around the world. 

As Master Wang from Shanghai says, "Tai Chi helps us find peace in  (we) busy lives. " From its beginnings in ancient China to its worldwide practice today, Tai Chi continues to help people live healthier and (happy) lives. It bridges centuries and cultures, offering a quiet path to well-being that anyone can walk. 

China's digital life has changed daily routines, from online shopping to short video viewing. For example, online shopping platforms have become very popular. They provide many (产品), from clothes to food. Before buying, you can zoom(放大) in on photos to (欣赏) every detail. You can often find simple product introductions (在……旁边) the photos. And they also help you (处理) with problems quickly. If you have questions about sizes or delivery, you can 礼貌) ask customer service for help. 

Short videos are full of (生气勃勃) content, like dances and jokes. Apps like Tiktok and RED let people (创造) and share everything they can imagine. What's more, they give people a chance to show their talents. That's why people take 骄傲) in these amazing tools. 

Social media apps let you share almost every moment with friends, (除……之外) the most private ones. They have become something that we can't live without. 

Rapa Nui (also known as Easter Island) is home to over 900 Moai statues. These tall, heavy stone figures usually have long faces, large noses and strong bodies, but  of them do not have any eyes. Around 1, 000 years ago, these huge stones  hard rocks that came from many kilometers away. No one knows for sure how the ancient Rapa Nui people moved them. Over the years. many theories have been suggested. Some believe aliens moved them,  think people used strong ropes and wooden tools to pull them slowly. A  Rapa Nui story is that the statues came alive and walked  the island. In recent years, more scientific  have been used in an attempt to solve the mystery. Maybe one day, we will finally uncover the real secret behind these amazing stone giants. 

"Five dollars for this?" I held up my favorite childhood storybook, its cover became soft from all the times Mom had read it to me. 

My younger sister Sarah said, "It's just taking up space. Also you haven't read it in1 . "

She was right, but the book felt like an old2 . I was about to put it back in the"keep" box 3 a woman walked to our yard sale.

Personality and Exercise: Find the Exercise That Suits You

Your personality might influence what kind of exercise you enjoy! A study from University College London found that people with different personalities prefer different workouts.  

What did the study show?

Outgoing people often like high-energy group activities, such as fitness classes or team sports. Quiet people usually prefer exercising alone, like running or yoga.  People who get stressed easily often feel better with easy-going and varied exercises. 

Researchers asked 132 people to join an 8-week fitness program. First, they answered questions about their personality and stress. Then, they took part in activities like cycling and bodyweight exercises. At the end, participants rated their enjoyment and were tested again for fitness. 

What do the results mean?

When the exercise matches their personality, people keep doing it, perform better, and have more fun. For example, outgoing people enjoy group activities, while easily stressed people reduce stress with relaxing plans. 

This research tells us that choosing the right exercise for yourself is very important. It doesn't matter what exercise you choose as long as it fits your personality. If you like setting your own pace, try running alone. If you enjoy staying with others, join a team sport or work out with friends. 

In short, exercise isn't just about health——it's also about enjoyment. Knowing your personality and choosing suitable exercise can make staying active easier and more effective.

How did you spend your last holiday? Were you glued to a screen from morning till night? Well, you' re not alone. It seems that many people are now online nearly all the time. According to a new survey, on average, Chinese people spend five and a half hours on the Internet every day!

Let's be honest. What do you usually do when you' re online? For many people (not just in China), it's watching short videos and checking out new memes(热梗). This low-value content clouds our thinking. The Oxford Word of the Year 2024, "brain rot, " best describes this global headache. 

But how did we get here? Looking through these types of short videos and memes is like eating your favorite snack. Once you start, it's hard to stop. It's also an easy way to kill time. Why p. an a trip or take up a new hobby when you can have"fun" without getting up from your sofa?

But this"easy fun" comes at a price. The more time we spend glued to our screens, the less real-life joy we experience. While we are having a"good" time on apps like Xiaohongshu and Bilibili, we are missing out on the wonders of the real world. Over time, we feel like our lives are getting more and more boring. What's worse, it makes it harder for us to concentrate for long periods, making it harder to read a book or listen in class, and makes it difficult to think deeply. 

Now it's time to bring back"voluntary fun". Instead of just watching, try doing something active. Draw a picture, write a short story, play a musical instrument, or build something. Go outside with your friends or family and enjoy the beauty of nature. Breathe in the fresh air. Bathe in the warm sunlight. Brighten your day with pleasant bird songs. Just don't let your screens take over your free time and leave your brain"rotting"!

Ocean researchers are saving endangered whales using hi-tech tools called SnotBots. 

In 2018, a killer whale called Scarlet was very weak. The whale, who was nearly four, was starving because there wasn't enough salmon to eat. Experts did their best but couldn't save her. 

Sadly, it isn't just Scarlet in trouble. All"southern resident killer whales", which live in the Salish Sea off the coast of Canada and the US, are having a hard time living. "There are only 75 killer whales remaining in this group, so every whale matters, " Hendrik Nollens from Wildlife Health told us. 

Researchers at Wildlife Health are using SnotBots to save these whales. "The special planes fly above the whales and take videos and pictures, collect their breath samples(样本) for health tests, and take their body temperatures, " says Nollens. 

Pilots fly the planes carefully to move close to the whales and catch the breath drops, or"blow", after they have come up to breathe. Analysing these breath samples helps the experts check whether the whales are healthy. The check-up also guides actions to protect the animals. 

By learning about and protecting whales, researchers are helping these fantastic sea animals live and grow again. Their efforts could help the population grow by 1% every year. "Our dream is to see more baby whales, healthier groups of whales, supported by healthier oceans, " says Nollens. 

10-year-old Maya Schab has a special birthday tradition every year. She holds a fundraiser（筹 款活动） to give back to her community. Recently, she gave away board games to children in a local hospital, keeping up her kind acts. 

Maya's journey of giving started when she was younger. In her first year of fundraiser, she asked friends, family and neighbors to give away school things for poor kids. She loved the feeling of giving back and decided to do something meaningful each year. 

Since then, Maya has tried several projects. She prepared snack kits for disabled kids, birthday boxes for the local food bank, and a crayon drive（蜡笔募捐活动）for the children's hospital. 

Why board games this year? Playing board games is a great way for hospital kids to relax and take their mind off being in the hospital. But because illnesses spread easily, hospitals can't reuse games. She wanted every child to have the chance to relax and play a game, and then take it home. 

To collect the games, Maya and her mom started a fundraiser website and shared it with family, friends and local businesses. She used the money to buy 130 board games, and some teachers also gave away games.

In ancient China, when flowers just began to bloom（盛开）in early spring, it would be a good   （选择）for people to get together for a flower-themed party. This day later became known as the Flower Festival. It has a history of   （超过）1, 400 years. People believed that this day was the birthday of all flowers. 

The Flower Festival was  （广泛地）celebrated on the fifteenth day of the second lunar month. However, in some areas, people  （更喜欢）to celebrate it on the second, the twelfth, or the twenty-fifth day of that month. It depended on the  （当地的）weather. 

Every spring in ancient China, there were interesting celebrations. To enjoy the  （生 气勃勃的） flowers, one popular activity was an outing in the countryside singing and dancing. People would also visit a nearby  （花园）, or go to any place where they could feel the season. There were many other  （风俗）too. For example, people, especially young girls, would tie a piece of red cloth or paper onto flower branches to  （表达）their wishes for a bright future. They also drank flower tea, planted flowers, and watched butterflies. 

In short, the Flower Festival is a wonderful time to experience the beauty of spring. Today, more and more people are beginning to celebrate this festival again. 

Tom is a kind boy who loves to help others and he always    very well. One day, he brought some books and food to the park. Hoping to find a    place to read and study alone, he walked    the woods by the river and soon found a nice spot. 

Not far away, a little girl was playing near the river when,   , one of her shoes fell into the water. She gave a    for help. Hearing her, Tom ran over at once. He lay down by the riverbank, reached out with a stick, and hooked the shoe back.

Should Schools Be Year-Round?

Usually, schools have a long summer break (vacation). Many students say July and August are the best time of the year——when summer starts, school is out for a long vacation.  They don't like to have a long summer break. Instead, they take shorter breaks spread out during the year. That means there is not a long summer break in a year-round school, but several shorter breaks in a year. 

More and more schools are becoming year-round places of learning. But is studying year-round better for students?
