A month before my first marathon (马拉松赛)，one of my feet was hurt and this meant not running for half a month, leaving me only two 1 to train. Although my foot was hurting, I had a strong feeling to 2 .

I remember back to my 7th grade in school. In my first P.E. class, the teacher required us to run and then hit a ball. He told me that I was not good at sports, because I did both 3 . The idea stuck with me for years.

As I came close to mile 23, I could see my mom waving a sign. If there is anyone who has believed in me during this journey, it's always been her. She 11 minded waking me up at 5 a.m. or questioned 12 cost like running shoes, hats and so on. No doubt she is my biggest fan!

I was one of the final runners to finish. 13 I finished! And I got a medal.

Did I win? Of course I did! I only had myself to 14 ! Strong willed to be myself, move forward, 15 of shame, I can now call myself a "marathon winner".

Students usually have to spend a lot of time learning knowledge，but the learning outcome cannot always meet what we expect. Here，let's try Feynman's learning method. 

As the name suggests，it was proposed by a Nobel Prize winner Richard Feynman（理查德•费曼）. It is an effective（有效的）

First of all，choose a concept（概念） as your learning aim. Read the material and try to understand it. 

 For example，suppose you are trying to explain the concept to a 5﹣year﹣old boy. You use simple language in order to make him fully understand it. 

If you have trouble explaining it clearly，then come to the third step.  Explain it to the boy bit by bit in your own words until he completely understands it. 

Finally，you should be able to answer questions about the concept. 

Feynman thinks that understanding is more important than memorizing. His leaning method encourages students to think deeply and solve problems with their own understanding.

At the 2023 Spring Festival Gala，a 24 year-old girl Cui Yiwen was introduced to everyone as a heroine（女英雄）. In an attack four years ago，Cui risked her safety to save her classmate，and her story has moved the whole country. 

On the evening of Marcha 10th，2019，Cui Yiwen was on the way to her dormitory（宿舍） with her classmate Xiao Liang in a university in Guilin，when suddenly，a man behind them stopped Xiao Liang with a high voice calling her name Looking back，Cui found that he was trying to hurt Liang with a knife. She quickly jumped forward and tried to hold her back. During the fight，Cui got hurt by the knife twice but she shouted， "Xiao Liang，run!" The man ran afterwards with extreme anger. Without thinking twice，Cui offered to protect Liang with her thin body. Then more people showed up and the murderer was caught. Cui got six more cuts on her body，and Liang was injured even more seriously. Luckily，the two girls were saved in time in a hospital. Being interviewed，Cui said that she only thought about saving her classmate. "If I didn't step forward，she would die. I am a daughter of a soldier. I couldn't just stay away. " 

As a special guest for the Spring Festival Gala，Cui's bravery was seen and admired by many and her action made her a heroine. We hope such positive energy（正能量） can be spread all over the country. 

Food is the first necessity for people. Over the years，Chinese are working on producing enough food to feed a population of 1. 4 billion. The "Father of Hybrid Rice"，Yuan Longping，created the world's first hybrid super-rice，which is able to yield（出产） 20 to 30 percent more than traditional types. 

Following Yuan's footsteps，more Chinese scientists are doing creative work in this field. A research team leading by Professor Hu Fengyi from Yunnan University has made great achievements in developing a perennial rice（多年生稻）. The results were published in Nature（《自然》国际学术期刊） in November，2022. 

The perennial rice is a kind of hybrid rice combined（结合） both common types and wild ones. Traditionally，rice should be planted every year. But this kind of rice only needs to be planted every four years. According to the test data of Hu Fengyi's team in Xishuangbanna and other places in Yunnan Province，perennial rice can yield twice a year. It produce s almost the same amount of rice as the traditional types with much lower labor costs. That can greatly reduce 70% of the work of farmers. In addition，it cuts the use of chemical fertilizers（化肥） so that it reduces the environmental pollution. 

The perennial rice is of great importance to the development of China's agricultural（农业的） production. It is believed that this new type of rice will be more widely grown in the future. 

During the 2016 Rio Olympics，people were surprised to see the round，purple marks on the body of the famous American swimmer Michael Phelps. What happened to him？In fact，he just visited a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine （TCM） and had "cupping" （拔火罐）. 

Massage （推拿） and acupuncture （针灸） are two other important kinds of TCM. Chinese massage can make you relaxed and fresh. Acupuncture takes away pain，though the look is funny. 

TCM is an important part of Chinese culture. The earliest medical classic in China，Huangdi's Classic on Medicine，came out more than 2，000 years ago. The book is about the relationship between man and nature. Nature keeps balanced if yin and yang work well together. TCM helps to do that Quit especially，for some health problems，a doctor of TCM will not give you medicine. Instead，he may give you just a food plan and right ways to eat. 

For example，it is common to eat on the way to school at our desk，or in front of the TV. But TCM thinks it's wrong. Here are the correct ways：sit down to eat. While eating，turn off the TV and get away from the work desk. Eat seasonal foods. Do not miss any of the three meals. Also，get your body moving often. Just as the saying goes， "Running water is never stale. " 

Nowadays，Traditional Chinese Medicine is becoming more and more popular around the world. A government report says that people in 183 countries and areas are now using TCM. 

AI is coming into our life in many ways. Recently，a smart AI technology named ChatGPT came out and excited the world. The number of its users had reached 100 million just in the first two months. 

 ChatGPT can be used in many different areas. It does quite well in chatting with people in natural language. You can ask it any question and get a proper reply soon after. It is able to search for the exact information and give you the most useful advice. What amazes people most is that it is quite good at writing. Learning from the data（数据） on the Internet，it can finish a book report，a survey result，a teaching plan and even a novel. It is reported that a university student in the US got the highest score with his essay completed by ChatGPT. The president of Israel（以色列） even gave a public speech written by ChatGPT. In February 2023，this AI technology passed the job interview of Level 3 engineer for coding（编码） with a yearly pay of over ＄180，000. And in March，the newest GPT-4 came out with higher intelligence and quicker response. 

The development of AI technology is surely changing the world. Will it completely take the place of reporters，teachers or painters？This is a big challenge for many to face. 

A boy，who lived with his mother alone，was born without ears. Although he had no trouble with hearing1 since he was little because of his looks.
