I'm Li Ping from Class 1, Grade 9. There are many traditional festivals in our country. 

 Recently , a father called Daming and his son Dongshun' s photos became hot all over China. In the photos, while they are working on the boat on Dongting Lake, lots of fish are jumping into the fish bin （鱼舱）.

 Dongting Lake is the second freshwater lake in China. It' s home to nearly 400 kinds of fishes. But in the past, people threw litter and factories put waste water into the lake. Even worse, a large number of fish were caught by fishermen. Because of pollution and overfishing, the Yangtze River was in great danger. For example, the Chinese paddlefish （中华白鲟） disappeared 2 years ago. Daming used to make a living by fishing near Dongting Lake. However, life was gradually becoming difficult for Daming and other fishermen. The more times they went to fish, the fewer fish they could get.

In January, 2020, the government called for a 10-year fishing ban （禁渔令）, covering 332 conservation areas （保护区） in the Yangtze River. Dongshun has worked with his father as a lake ranger （巡湖员） for almost 3 years. This job helps him understand how important it is to protect Dongting Lake. "I think this job is meaningful," he said, "As the wind is blowing gently, fish are swimming happily. What a beautiful scene! The fishing ban will lead Dongting Lake to a better future." 

Ole is a student from Norway at East China Normal School. He first visited China in 2016, and since then, he  ( develop ) a deep interest in traditional Chinese culture. Recently, he and his team won the Shanghai International Students Dragon Boat Race. It was the team' s  ( six ) win in a row and his second time winning the first prize. "I  ( introduce ) to the dragon boat racing in the spring of 2023. My teacher noticed my strong arms and encouraged me ( try ) it," said Ole. When he was asked the secret to  ( he ) success, he replied, "There is no ' I', but only ' we'. My teammates are international students coming different countries. Before we became the champions, we practiced rowing three times a week, trying to match the strokes with drumbeat.

At first, we weren't very good. We did not know where the problem lay. However, with continuous effort, we learned that teamwork is the key. we are culturally different, we are one team in the race. Before each race, the team would stand in circle and cheer loudly. "Taking part in this sport, we realized the  ( important ) of cooperation. We trained hard, each stroke bringing us a closer to understanding the tradition of Dragon Boat Festival," said Ole  ( proud ).

It's reported that Labor （劳动） Education will be included in the education of middle schools and primary schools in China. I think it' s necessary.

 James Cameron , the famous explorer （探险家） and movie director, traveled to the deepest point of the Mariana Trench（马里亚纳海沟）. At about 11,000 meters below sea level, this is the deepest point on the Earth. Since childhood, Cameron has wanted to explore the sea. Now he has reached the deepest point in the sea alone.

 The Mariana Trench is perhaps the furthest place on the planet. Because of its great depth, the pressure at the bottom of the Mariana Trench is very strong. The temperature is very low, and the place is always in darkness. However, there still live some animals and plants. Although two explorers went there in 1960, Cameron was the first to film this strange, dark place. 

 For this unbelievable exploration, Cameron traveled in a submersible （潜水器） called the DEEPSEA CHALLENGER. It was 7.3 meters long and 1.09 meters wide — so small that Cameron could hardly move.

 Yet the submersible is forceful enough to reach the bottom of the sea in just two hours and thirty-six minutes and go up in seventy minutes! In the PSEA CHALLENGER, Cameron spent three hours filming the bottom of the sea while its mechanical arms were picking up rocks and animals.

 We know less about the deepest point on our planet than we do about the surface of Mars. But the rocks Cameron collected will give scientists a lot of information. And by studying the living things there, perhaps scientists can even learn more about how life began!

When Xiong Chuanfa, 34, blows a lifelike tiger out of sugar in just minutes, kids look at him in surprise thinking he is a magician.

Xiong has been blowing sugar figurines （吹糖人） for over twenty years. Blowing sugar figurines is a Chinese traditional folk art with a history of over 600 years and has been listed as a state-level intangible cultural heritage （国家级非物质文化遗产）.

Every morning, Xiong prepares the sugar and drives to different markets in Nanchang to start his magic show.

He heats the sugar, pulls off a little to make a ball and blows it into different shapes—a rabbit, a monkey, and even Bing Dwen Dwen, the mascot of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

People, especially little kids, are interested in his skills. ____, he also stops by colleges.

Many college students have been drawn to the art, waiting in line for hands-on experience. Among them, Simon, a foreign student, couldn't help having a try. Though it looked easy, he found it difficult to make it. Thanks to Xiong' s help,

Simon was deeply moved after learning about the art. "I just can't believe the traditional folk art can be kept so well here. I love it. Chinese culture should be spread around the world," he said.

This art has been passed down for four generations （代） in Xiong' s family. His 6-year-old son often blows sugar balloons, just like what he used to do as a child.

" We will pass on the intangible heritage," said Xiong.
