How to Stop Feeling Down About School Life

Wake up, go to school, come home, do homework and restart. You may soon feel sad or tired. With some planning, you can find out what's wrong and find ways to make life more fun. 

You need 8—10 hours of sleep every night, Make time for sleep to give yourself a better chance of having a good day the next day. 

If you're taking notes and still find it difficult to work out the questions, look for ways to get help. Try asking teachers questions after class, Many teachers love to see that you care and that you're trying to learn. You can also look for a skilled friend. For example, if you are good at maths but struggle with English while your friend is good at English but struggles with maths, you two can help each other. 

Try looking for a new club or sport at school that you could try. Think about your skills, your favourite things to do, and the things you've wished you could try before. Joining clubs also means having chances of making new friends. 

Sometimes, getting through daily routine is a little easier when you know something good is coming. Plan some enjoyable things so that you know there's something to look forward to, You can try planning a weekly movie night after the school week or an outing with a friend or a family member at weekends.

①Dragon Head-Raising Day is celebrated on the second day of the second Chinese lunar month to show respect to the Dragon King and wish good weather for a big harvest. It is considered as the start of spring and farming.

②After the cold winter, spring comes and animals are awake. Because the weather is dry in winter. farming needs water. The story goes that after this day, the Dragon King who controls clouds and rains will wake from his winter sleep and bring rainfall for crops. 

③On that day, there are lots of traditional celebration activities. First, in the early morning when it's still dark. families go to a river or a well with lanterns to get water and then carry it back home. Then they light candle s, burn incense sticks(香柱) and offer a sacrifice(祭品). This ritual is named Yintianlong (lead the field dragon). People believe these actions can bring wealth and health to their families. 

④The most well-known tradition on that day is having a haircut. It's a sign of good luck and energy in the whole year. However, it is very bad luck to get a haircut during the first lunar month. 

⑤Eating "dragon" food is another important part of celebrations, Chinese are best at connecting certain food with luck, so food eaten on this day also gets special names. Noodles which are long and thin are called "dragon beard(longxu)", Dumplings are called "dragon cars(longer)". Spring rolls are" dragon scales(longlin)", and people call popeom" dragon seeds(longzi)". 

⑥Those celebration activities may be different in the south and the north, and some activities have remained to this day, while some were just kept in the past. But the wish for a good year ahead is the same despite the change of time or space. 

When I was a child, I was not good at communicating with others. I got angry quite (easy). 

I still remember it was early autumn. Some leaves started to turn yellow and the weather became cool. One day, as I was getting ready for school, my mother (careless) banded me my father's vest(背心) instead of mine. At that time, I was getting to have a (large) size than my father. So when I put on the vest, I felt as if I wasn't able to breathe! I realized that it was a small mistake which was made by my mother, but somehow the breathless feeling was so strong that it made me very uncomfortable. My mother said sorry with a smile, but I shouted at her(angry) without thinking much. I got it off my body so (wild) that I made a hole in it. I put on my own vest and rushed out of the house before my mother could stop me. 

Later, my mother (sad) shared her bad feelings with my father, "See what your son has done. " Instead of saying he would scold(责备) or beat me, my father (quiet) asked my mother to mend the vest. 

Later, when my mother told me about my father's response, I felt ashamed of my bad behavior. My father's (gently) kindness taught me a lesson. It was really (help) in my life. I will never forget it.

When I had something difficult to do, I (总是) asked my mom for help. But she said, "Do it yourself, dear. " I would get so (生气的) that I couldn't talk with her at that time. I thought she was the  (最差的) mother in the world! One day, I decided to invite some of my  (最好的) friends to my home. My bedroom was in a  (大的)mess. Books were all over the table and the floor. I didn't make my bed, so I asked my mother to help me clean it. But she said (严肃地), "Do it yourself, dear. " Because of my" (懒惰的) Mom", I have to wash my clothes and clean my room by myself. I used to think it is (不可能的) for me to do everything on my own, but I really make it and it helps me learn a lot. As time goes by, I begin to understand her. I (清楚地)remember what my mom always says, "Do it yourself, dear! Work can make you independent and  (聪明的)!"

Erik Weihenmayer is an American adventurer(探险家). When he was  , he always went camping with his brothers. But  , he became blind at the age of 13. But this didn't stop him from living a(n)  life. On May 25th, 2001, he reached the top of Qomolangma. He was so proud that he made it possible for people who cannot see to climb the world's  mountain. Three years later, he led a group of blind teenagers to climb the 7, 045-meter Lhakpa Ri mountain. Although the group did not get to the top  , their amazing journey was made into a movie called Blindsight. 

I was very lucky to meet Angelina, our head teacher. Before that, I always did nothing but watched movies and hung out with (two) of my best friends. We were the same grade. 

Angelina was not only a teacher but inventor. She created (hundred) of recyclable plastics when she was young. And she worked (hard) than others. Then she became the (one) winner of Environment Stars in Argentina. 

"I first tried inventing a new kind of plastic I was at the age of 18. " she said. "When I failed three times, I still hoped for a (four) chance. " When she was in her (twenty), she won several prizes. 

After hearing her story, I (change)a lot already and I am working hard now. I want to be a useful person like her.
