What Things Are Really Important in Life?

As there are lots of things to care about in our life, what things are really important? 

Happiness

Enjoy your life. Your mood will affect your body. If you are happy, you probably can say healthy. Try to find the things that make you smile and you'll be happy in your life. 

Healthy Life

Without a healthy life, life can be hard. What are the things you should follow to stay healthy? You'd better have healthy food every day. Drinking enough water is important. What's more, doing exercise helps you live a healthy life.

Wolves may seem scary, but they could help save Scotland's forests! A new study shows that bringing wolves back can make the forests healthy. Why? Because wolves can help trees grow, and trees are really important. They take in carbon dioxide (CO₂), a gas that makes the world warmer. 

In the UK today, there are no wild wolves. Over 250 years ago, people killed all the wolves in Scotland. Without wolves, red deer have no natural enemies (天敌), so their numbers became very large. Red deer love to eat young trees, and this stops forests from growing. Now, only 4% of Scotland has forests, much less than in many other countries. 

Scientists used a computer to see what would happen if wolves came back. They found that 167 wolves could control (控制) the number of red deer. Then, more trees could grow and take in more carbon dioxide (Co) each year!

Some people might not like this idea. Farmers are worried that wolves will make their cows and sheep in danger. But the scientists want to share this new information. They hope people will see the good things wolves can do for nature. 

There was once a farmer. He worked hard all his life. He was very ill and knew that he was dying. 

He had three sons. He wanted to teach them how they can be good farmers. He said to them, "My boys, there is great treasure (珠宝) in my field. Make sure that you will look for it after I die. " The sons said that they would, Sadly, the father died. The sons began to look for the treasure. They dug (挖) and dug from morning to night. 

"I want to know what we will find. " they said to each other. 

Soon, they dug up every part of the field. However, they did not find anything. They were very sad. 

"All that hard work for nothing!" they shouted. 

But then, the crops(农作物) began to grow and the harvest (收成) was great. They sold the crops and made a lot of money. Finally, they understood what their father meant by the great treasure. 

The sons agreed to work hard on the field and lived happily after that. 

Jianzi is a traditional Chinese sport with 2, 0o0 years of history. Players kick a shuttlecock (jianzi) made of cloth, a coin, and chicken or duck feathers. The rule is simple: keep it in the air using only feet, legs, or head no hands! It needs quick moves and good balance. 

Long ago, people played jianzi for exercise. They believed kicking it high showed big dreams, and the feathers meant kindness. Today, it's not just a fun game there are even matches!

◇Singles (单打): One player kicks as many times as possible in one minute. 

◇Doubles: Two players compete until the shuttlecock drops. 

◇Teams: Groups stand in a circle and count their total kicks. 

Playing jianzi is great exercise. It makes your body stronger, lets you move easily, and helps your heart work better. In 2oo9, it became a recognized sport worldwide. Maybe someday it'll be in the Olympics!

Hans Christian Andersen was a man who lived long ago, in a country called Denmark. He loved to write stories so much that he wrote some of the world's most famous stories!

Andersen was good at making the characters alive(变得生动) in our minds. Andersen wrote "The Ugly Duckling, " the heartwarming story of a little bird that grew up to be a beautiful swan. Or "The Little Mermaid(小美人鱼), " the story of a sea princess(公主) who wished to become a girl. Andersen's stories are filled with characters(角色) that teach us about kindness, bravery(勇敢), and the power of dreams. 

But Andersen didn't stop at writing; he was a great traveler. He visited many countries and shared his stories with people everywhere. His stories were like seeds that he planted across the world, and they grew into a beautiful garden of magic for everyone to enjoy. 

Today, both the young and old still read and love Andersen's stories. They tell us that everyone has a story to tell and that magic can be everywhere in these books. 

Do you know that seeds (种子) can be used to make beautiful paintings? Dongming grain painting is a good example. 

Dongming grain painting has a history of more than 200 years. In 2016, it was named Shandong's intangible cultural heritage(非物质文化遗产). In the past, people gave grain paintings as important gifts when it was time for the"Three Life Sacrifices"(三牲祭祀). 

Han Guorui, 44, started learning Dongming grain painting when he was 8. During these years, he saw the art become less popular. People are losing interest in it, maybe because it takes much time and work to make one. It usually takes 27 steps (步骤)    ▲    . For example, Han spent five years growing red corn(玉米) for making plum blossom petals(梅花花瓣). 

To keep people interested, Han thought of some new ideas. And it's working, too. In 2014, he made a grain painting of the Mona Lisa. Hopefully, it sold for much money, and he succeeded in making more people know about Chinese culture!

Do snails(蜗牛) have teeth?

Yes! Most snails have a tongue(舌头) just like ours. But around their tongues are rows(排) and rows of little teeth. How many teeth does a snail have? The garden snail has 14, oo0 teeth. And some other species(种类) can have over 20, 000!
