The days of staring at a map or the screen of your smartphone when you're lost will soon be over—thanks to new shoes that tell you which way to turn.

The shoes use a Bluetooth link to communicate with your mobile's mapping    system.The mobile works out which route you should follow and the shoes then   emit a vibration (震动) in either foot telling you when and where to change direction.  ①The shoes will also count the number of steps you've taken and the calories you've burned.

"They are as easy to use as a tap on the shoulder,"said Krispian Lawrence,who     developed the shoes with partner Anirudh Sharma in Hyderabad,India.

"You can even communicate with them using hand gestures and finger snaps because the shoes have sensors that can pick up movement and sound."The Lechal shoes go on sale worldwide in June but Lawrence and Sharma's company,Ducere Technologies,has already taken more than 3,000 pre-orders.

Lawrence believes the shoes will also improve road safety."If I'm on my bike or motorbike,I don't want to stare at my phone—it's dangerous,"he says."I'd rather be guided by my footwear."

He believes his invention will prove ②____for the visually impaired (视 觉障碍者)and has promised that every pair sold by Ducere will subsidise(补助) a cheaper pair for a visually impaired person.

The shoes don't impress explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes,however."What's wrong with a good old- fashioned map?"said the 70-year-old when told of the shoes."If you rely too heavily on technology, you're heading for trouble.Too many people  have forgotten the basics:how to read a map and a compass."

The New Year's Eve dinner is "reunion dinner", and is believed to be the meal of the year because it has many meaningful dishes. Big families of several generations (代) around tables and enjoy the food and time together. Dishes with meanings must be included in the dinner such as fish, dumplings, and spring rolls (春卷). Some Chinese worship (拜) their ancestors (祖先) before the reunion dinner that they are putting their ancestors first.

Chinese people have the custom of up late on their New Year's Eve to welcome the new year's arrival. After reunion dinner, families usually sit together to watch the Spring Festival Gala (春节联欢晚会). It's one of the most popular TV shows in China. At the same time, most people send WeChat Hongbao or short messages to friends and by phone.

One day, a teacher asked his students Jack and Nick to meet him at the start of a road in a forest. When they arrived, the teacher said, "Start here and reach end point of this road by yourselves." Then, the two started. Just after a while, they (find) that the road was divided (分开) into two. Jack decided to follow the smooth (平坦的) one, while Nick took the other one full of obstacles (障碍).

It is the same with our life. Once you choose to live your life in an easier way, you will lose the (able) to solve problems in the future."
