On the first day of this term, David's father gives him a gift. It is a book without any pictures in it. His father says, "Son, it's a magic book, but to find its magic, you have to read it."

David doesn't like reading. But he starts reading it because he likes things about magic. The next morning, his father asks him, "Have you found the magic key?" So there is a key to find. David is so happy because he can see a new key to a thousand worlds and adventures after that. With the key, David can travel in those books forever.

Let's look at why we sing in the shower first. Think about it. You don't sing when you're sad (if you aren't singing the sadness). For many people, shower time is the only time they are alone all day. The shower is a safe place. You can be yourself. And tiredness (疲倦) washes off.

Next, singing makes you feel better. Why is this? Singing makes you breathe (呼吸) deeply. This helps get more O₂ into your blood (血). It's good for your body and mind.

And what's the best about singing in the shower? The shower has great acoustics (音响效果)! Your voice bounces (跳动) around. It gets stronger. And it stays in the air longer. You sound better than you really are.

So why do we sing? For many reasons, it can be just for relaxing ourselves, or it can be because we like to hear our own voices. Whatever (无论) the reason is, go on singing in the shower. It's good for you.

A game called "Black Myth: Wukong" has recently become a hot topic worldwide. Since the official release (发行) of the game, over 18 million players (pay) for it.

Based on a Chinese classic novel, Journey to the West, the game allows people to experience Chinese traditional culture in addition to the fun and joy of (play) the game. Wukong, or Monkey King, is the main character in book. Black Myth is receiving a lot of praise for its artistic design and cultural influence. The game is attractive that players can't wait to learn more about Chinese culture. As a result, the interest ancient Chinese literature has also increased among young people. Even those who were not fans of Chinese classics before may be encouraged (read) the book.

Running 7.8 kilometers north to south through the heart of Beijing, the new World Heritage Site is made up of 15 buildings. At the northern end of the axis are the Bell Tower and Drum Tower. Ernesto Ottone, one of UNESCO's directors, said that Beijing's urban planning draws inspiration from Confucian thoughts and values. This style of city planning can be dated back to Kaogongji from the Confucian classic Rites of Zhou (《周礼》) that was written more than 2,000 years ago.

China will continue making efforts to protect heritage buildings, encourage public participation, and wisely guide tourism development. A community with a shared future for mankind is developing along the Central Axis.

Dolphins are interesting animals. Many types of dolphins live in large societies. They have many different relationships and need a good communication system. That explains why they need to speak up.

Scientists have known for a long time that animals can "talk" with each other. But dolphins have a special way of talking. When they are in a group, they mainly use different sounds to express purposes. Scientists believe that the dolphins really are talking. However, they don't know what exactly the dolphins are saying.

Recently at Kewalo University in Hawaii, researchers have had some amazing results. Not only do the dolphins understand the meaning of human words, they also understand the importance of word order. For example, when they were asked to "touch the ball with your tail (尾巴) and then jump over it", they could perform the actions in the correct order.

Dolphins use body language, too. They "tell" something to another dolphin by moving their body in a special way. They also do it by opening and closing their mouths quickly.

We may all experience the power of words in our life, even when we were very young. They say it is important to praise children four times for each negative ( 负 面 的 ) word. Blaming will make things worse, while positive words are helpful especially when being in trouble or in need. When we fail the exam, encouraging words from our teachers or parents make us work harder at our lessons. Encouraging words can   go quite a long way. They lift people up. For example, encouraging words to someone who is sad can help them make it through the day. Words can have a powerful effect on your brain. And it will in turn ( 相 应 地 ) have a great influence on your action.

Everything you do depends on what you choose to do. It's not your parents, your past relationships or your job, but you and only you that are responsible for every goal you set. If you have dreams in life, write them down and speak them out. Your words are likely to bring you out something amazing.

Du Fu (712-770) is a famous poet in ancient China. He is (wide) known among us Chinese people. However, only a few know about him in the Western world.

The BBC made a one-hour documentary (纪录片) called Du Fu: China's Greatest Poet in 2020. This English-language documentary gives an excellent (introduce) of the great poet Du Fu. In it, Du Fu is compared Dante in Italy and Shakespeare in Britain.

In the documentary, British historian Michael Wood travels around China (research) Du's life. He visits a lot of places, such as Du Fu's birthplace and Du Fu Thatched Cottage in Chengdu. Along the way, he interviews people, and they tell (fascinate) stories of Du Fu,   who had a hard time in his late years but never stopped writing or showing care and worries about his country and people.

The documentary also explains Du's works have been popular for centuries. "Chinese people pay much attention to (memorize) history. And, for completely sure, Du Fu is best at showing Chinese ancient history in his poems," said a teacher at Renmin University of China. Known as China's "saint of poetry (诗圣)", Du Fu had amazing creativity in writing poems. And today about 1,500 of his (work) are still for us to enjoy. They also allow us to learn about many (history) events.
