17、Waste recycling is a big problem for most countries around the world. Many countries are trying to think of ways to solve it. But most of the ways are not very successful. However, Germany has done a good job in dealing with its waste. It recycles more waste than any other country in Europe. Today, its recycling is close to 80% of its waste.
The German government set up an organization to charge companies for the things they use to package (包装) products. The more things they use, the more the companies will pay. The purpose is to reduce waste before anyone buys a product. Germany has also reduced glass and plastic garbage by giving money to people who find and return bottles and other items.
To help make recycling easier, recycling bins (回收箱) in Germany come in different colors. Paper goes in the blue bin, and plastic goes in the yellow bin. The brown bin is for kitchen waste and other organic (有机的) waste while the black or grey bin is for everything else. People have to sort (把……分类) their rubbish before throwing it away. Some of the garbage can be turned into new things. For example, kitchen waste is turned into compost (混合肥料). Germany deals with two-thirds of its rubbish by recycling.

Find a right place and time to talk. First, find a time when your parents aren't busy. Say to them, "Mum (or Dad), could I talk to you about my problem?" They'll be happy to sit down and talk about it.

If it's hard to talk to your parents, practise first. Speak to some animals and try telling them your problem. After a few "conversations", you may have the courage to speak to your parents.
