For more than a month, the world has been excited about  new AI model, DeepSeek-R1. 0 It was developed by DeepSeek, a Chinese business based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. 

The new AI was released on Jan 20, it  (beat) OpenAI's ChatGPT and became the top free application（应用）in Apple's App Store, reported Xinhua. 

Its developer said that DeepSeek-R1 is as good at difficult tasks as other big models but needs less computing power（算力）. It is also the cheapest of its kind and took only about 5. 57 million US dollars(40. 58 million yuan)   (develop). It is less than the money that US businesses (spend) on building similar AI models by now. 

DeepSeek-RIs (success) largely came from its special training method. Traditionally, AI is trained in two ways. One is Chain-of-Thought（CoT, 思维链）, where AI learns to break problems into smaller,  (simple) steps. The other is Supervised Fine-Tuning （SFT, 监督微调） , which works by  show) AI lots of practice problems along with the right answers for it to find a pattern.

Tao Yuanming was a famous Chinese poet in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. At that time, the society was a bit chaotic（混乱的）. Tao Yuanming didn't like the noisy and complicated court life, so he wanted to live a simple and quiet life in the countryside.This (choose) had a big influence on his poems.

The poem" Drinking Wine"(write) when he left his job and started his reclusive（隐居的）life. The political situation wasn't good then, but he found comfort in nature. This poem shows his idea of living (happy)with nature and being satisfied with a simple life.

Tao uses simple words (tell) deep thoughts. In this poem, he

said he lived in a place with people, but he didn't care about the noisy carriages and horses. It means he could keep calm inside no matter where he was. The words" Secluded heart makes secluded place" are really meaningful. They tell us that (we) feeling inside decides how we see the place around us.

Then, he wrote about picking flowers by the fence and looking  the faraway hill. It shows his (peace) and happy feeling inside. The fresh air and the flying birds going home also make us feel the harmony with nature.

On October 9, Hurricane Milton became the fifth hurricane（飓风）in 2024 to make landfall in the mainland United States.Thousands of people were ordered to leave Florida's west coast before Hurricane Milton hit. Storms like this happen more often and get stronger. So weather experts are working hard to forecast（预测）where they will go and follow their paths. AI is playing an important role in that process.

For years, weather experts have built digital（数字）models of storms. These models can take hours to produce new forecasts. However, AI models use huge amounts of information from storms in the past to notice repeating patterns. And they tell people about storms correctly within seconds, and even days before storms hit.

Matt Lanza is a weather expert. He works in Houston, Texas. In the week before Hurricane Milton made landfall, Lanza said, "The old models correctly forecast where in Florida the storm would hit. But AI models probably forecast the possible result 12to 18 hours earlier. Those hours can make a big difference to people preparing for storm damage."

The AI program GraphCast said that Hurricane Beryl would hit Texas on July 8.A traditional model said it would hit Mexico. GraphCast was correct. The team that made it won a prize.

In September, the AI program AIFS forecast Hurricane Francine's path as the

storm hit Louisiana. Its correctness made Lanza feel sure to tell his viewers in Texas that the storm likely wouldn't be a problem for them.

The National Hurricane Center uses AI in its forecasting. It works well, but not perfectly. It's hard for AI to forecast how strong a storm will be. So, weather experts still use other tools with AI. They don't let AI do all the work.

A father was very worried about his son, who, at 15 or 16 years old, seemed to show ng-signs of courage. So, the father went to see a famous boxing coach and asked him to help his son. The coach agreed and said, "Leave your son with me. In three months, I-promise he-will be a changed-person: However, you must not visit him during this time." The father agreed.

On August 20,2024, a new Chinese video game called Black Myth:Wukong became popular worldwide. Developed by Game Science, this big action game quickly became the most-played single-player game on Steam. Many people discussed it online.

The game is based on Journey to the West, a famous Chinese story. Players act as Sun Wukong, a magical monkey king, and explore a beautiful world filled with Chinese cultural elements. The game's art design includes mountains, old temples,and creatures from ancient Chinese books like The Classic of Mountains and Seas. It also took inspiration from Stephen Chow's movie A Chinese Odyssey.

Feng Ji, CEO of Game Science, said the game was created by a Chinese team to share Chinese stories globally. He explained, " Good stories and art are key. We want players to enjoy Chinese culture through the game. " He believes a game's success depends on how much players love it, not just its budget（预算）or graphics（画面效果）。

To create realistic scenes, the team visited many historical places in China. The game includes 36 locations designed to look like real-world places. Twenty-seven of these are in Shanxi Province. This makes the game visually unique and educational.
