During volunteering, you can have lots of opportunities to learn useful and important skills. For example, volunteer organizations always provide on-the-job training courses for volunteers before they start the work, Those courses can help you learn some skills for certain jobs, And they' re often offered to you for free.

One of the best parts of autumn is its beautiful colors. Normally green leaves turn into red, orange, yellow, and finally brown. This is called "leaf phenology", and many people look forward to it every year. However, due to climate change, autumn is changing. 

According to a study published earlier this year in a journal, the season length is growing, meaning that it is taking longer for leaves to change their colors. And this is not the only way that climate change is ruining the season. 

"Trees are holding onto their leaves longer, " explained Dr. Howard Diamond, a senior climate scientist"In my own neighborhood, I can remember that the leaves would drop a lot sooner 20 years ago than they do now. This is a personal observation, but research actually supports this phenomenon we're witnessing. 

Climate change isn't just causing the leaves to change later. We can also expect later frosts(霜) according to Dr. Michael E. Mann, a professor of the University of Pennsylvania. Mann said" That means mosquitoes and pests remain active for a longer time in autumn, posing a greater health risk to human beings. 

If there is any good news at all, though, we may be able to stave off this development. Mann pointed out that if humans limit their carbon dioxide emissions, they can still prevent the worst effects of climate change from affecting them during the autumn months. "A new study recently provides further evidence that surface warming will likely stop after carbon emissions reach zero, " Mann stated in his recent comment for Live Science. 

In the Taishan Mountain scenic area in Tai'an, Shandong province, a robotic dog was tested. Its main job was to carry heavy loads, such as garbage, acting as a"'porter"(脚夫) on the mountain and reducing the need for human workers. 

Every year, Taishan Mountain receive millions of visitors. These tourists produced nearly 24, 000 tons of waste every year. The terrain (地形) in the Taishan Mountain made it harder and more costly to clean and transport the garbage as large machines couldn't be used and the garbage had to be collected by hand. 

To solve this problem, the scenic area tested robotic dogs for waste collection. The tested robotic dogs were some of the fastest and most advanced industrial-grade quadruped(四足的) robots on the market. They could cross obstacles(障碍) easily, keep good balance, and carry heavy loads for a long time. Tests were carried out over three days at the base, middle and top of the mountain. The robotic dogs equipped with a shelf and cargo(货物) box that could carry 30 to 40 kilograms, were tested for climbing ability and load-bearing capacity(容量) on the challenging terrain. 

Results showed that they could reach the top of the mountain from the base within two hours, while the average time for adult tourists not carrying a heavy load was around four hours. The robots could operate for four to six hours on a full charge. During the tests, the robotic dogs fit over 80 percent of the mountain's terrain. 

Many tourists were attracted by these robotic dogs. Wang Yang, a tourist from Heilongjiang Province, said"'I saw it climbing and took a photo with it. It's truly amazing. "

The cultural excitement caused by the popular cartoon movie Ne Zha 2 is now spreading across Shenzhen. A giant Ne Zha-themed graffiti wall(涂鸦墙), 2 meters tall and 10 meters wide, has appeared on a community building in Minzhi Subdistrict, Longhua District. The bright and lively artwork shows characters from the film, catching the eyes of both locals and tourists. 

   At the top of the graffiti, Ne Zha stands bravely with red flames around him. Other favorite characters like Ao Bing, Taiyi Zhenren, Shili Niangniang, Ao Run, Shen Gongbao, and Shen Xiaobao are also painted in a colorful way, turning a plain wall into a beautiful piece of art. 

Since it was finished, the graffiti has become popular online, especially on Xiaohongshu (RedNote). A video about the wall received more than 100, 000 likes in just one day. The wall, located near Exit A of Shangfen Station (Metro Line 6), is now a top spot for taking photos, with many people visiting every day. The artist behind the graffiti is Peng Dan, a local fireelancer(自由职业者). She and two friends started the project to celebrate the movie's characters, which they loved during the Spring Festival. "l only wanted to paint a few characters, but many people loved it, '" Peng said. The unexpected attention encouraged them to add more details, including a new character, Ao Guang. 

Visitors like Mr. Zhou from Futian District said, "Seeing it in person is way cooler than online!" Ms. Zhong who brought her 5-year-old son, added, "This helps kids enjoy traditional culture in a fun way. 

My grandma took up knitting(编织) from an early age. She started knitting to help reduce family stress and her interest1 over time.

Climate change is the biggest threat to our planet. As temperatures increase, the ice caps and glaciers（冰川）around the world are starting to melt, meaning sea levels will get higher. We are already seeing the results of climate change with an increase in extreme weather events such as hurricanes（飓风）and wildfires and serious shortages of water. All over the world there are people living in difficult conditions. But difficult conditions often inspire creative solutions. 

Every year the Philippines（菲律宾）are hit by typhoons. These violent storms often kill hundreds of people and cause damage to the islands. One company has come up with a house that stands up to the strongest of winds. The houses built in a dome（穹顶）shape and the curved surfaces are much better at surviving in storms than traditional flat roofs and walls. They are also better at surviving earthquakes. 

Wildfires often cause damage in many places around the world. In 2015, bush fires burned down plants in South Australia. This made the land difficult to farm as strong winds blew the soil away. A farmer ploughed（耕）the fields in spirals（螺旋形）. This means that it doesn't matter which way the wind blows because it can never blow away the soil. 

A lack of water is also a serious problem. In some deserts, water is difficult to find in spring. A project called Ice Stupa has come up with a clever solution. In winter, a pipe（管道）takes water from higher up in the mountains down to the desert, where it rushes out as a fountain. Because it is so cold in the desert, the water freezes and makes frozen towers of ice. In spring, the ice melts giving the farmers the water they need for their land. 

Ms. Liu was born in 1973. When she was a child, a neighbor used sign language to communicate with her but Liu could not understand what she was trying to say. With the help of the neighbor's husband, Liu knew that she wanted to make her a scarf. Liu was moved by her kind gesture, and thought it would be great if she could speak. 

The experience left indelible marks on Liu. At the age of 14, she decided to learn to teach hearing-impaired（耳背的）students. After graduating from university, she became a teacher at a school of special education.

I kept food and tools（工具）at both my houses, and also wild goats（山羊）. There were many goats on the island, and I made fields with high fences to keep them in. They learnt to take food from me, and soon I had goats' milk to drink every day. I also worked hard in my corn（玉米）fields. And so many years went by.
