1、阅读下面短文,从每小题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
①Some people like having instant noodles(方便面) as a quick lunch— others enjoy them while traveling through the air. But some passengers on Korean Air can't do this anymore. The airline has taken its much-loved instant noodles off its economy(经济舱) menu.
②The reason? Turbulence(气流). Turbulence on planes has gone up by as much as 55% over the past 40years, a 2023 UK study found. And Korean Air said the number of times its flights(航班) have experienced turbulence has doubled since 2019.
③The airline said that this, along with little space in the walkways and passengers sitting close together, could raise the danger of passengers being burned(烫伤) by hot water in cups of instant noodles. In June 2024, a passenger traveling on an Air New Zealand flight was burned when turbulence caused a full pot of coffee to fall from the drinks holder. Later in early July, a woman sued(起诉) US airline JetBlue after being badly burned by hot tea during turbulence.
④Instant noodles were part of Korean Air's in-flight menu, and were given for free on longer flights before. But since August 15, 2024, economy passengers have found other foods— like sandwiches and pizza— on the menu instead of instant noodles. Passengers in business and first class are still able to enjoy instant noodles, however. That's because the possibility of these passengers being burned is lower.
⑤Online, people have mixed feelings about the decision(决定). Some don't agree with it, saying the airline has kept other foods that could make burns happen, like tea and coffee. But others agree with Korean Air, with some saying they' re often worried about getting burned, and others saying they don't like the smell of the instant noodles anyway.
(1)、When did Korean Air stop offering instant noodles to economy class passengers?A、In 2019. B、In 2023. C、In June 2024. Schoolbot 9000
By Sam Hepburn
James, an 11-year-old artist, lives in a time when AI-powered robots are part of home life. But James wishes he could spend more time with his mom and less with the unemotional robot. He looks forward to school, which is a robot-free place. But that changes after his school uses a robot, Schoolbot 9000, to help students do better in exams. Schoolbot is expected to help the teachers but soon replaces them. Sometimes, Schoolbot is helpful——it turns a dry history lesson into an interesting song the class loves. However, for the most part, Schoolbot oversteps its bounds(越界); closing projects(项目)and leaving unkind words for students. It even breaks a violin because it doesn't think the student can play it well.

Ask the Writer

That night, we sat in the Smiths' living room, sharing stories and 11 by candlelight. It was then that I realized how 12 it was to have good neighbours.
Now, the Smiths are no longer just the people next door. We 13 tools and get help from each other. Mrs. Smith often brings over delicious pies she bakes, and my dad helps them with their garden. That first hand I offered that Saturday morning led to a wonderful 14 between two families. Indeed, friendship begins with a simple act of 15 .

Have you read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? After I put down the book, I kept thinking of the exciting story in my mind. The book was full of magic (魔法).
Charlie's home was a small house at the side of a big town. His family was very poor. His four grandparents stayed in the only bed in the house. They always ate watery cabbage soup for dinner.
In the evenings, Charlie sat with his grandparents in bed and listened to their stories. Charlie's parents often joined in. Every night, the room became a happy place. The whole family forgot about their hungry and poor life.
This touched me greatly. In some people's minds, happiness comes from things like money. But love, in fact, is the key to happiness. Oscar Wilde once said, "Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden…" There are so many reasons to be happy. It can move us, change us and give us a life full of happiness.
A. The family never had enough food.
B. I think love is the most important one.
C. To my surprise, the family were happy together.
D. There is a chocolate factory near Charlie's house.
E. But Charlie's happy family was the most magical part.
What do you think happiness comes from? Why? (No more than 15 words. )

The ground shook suddenly. Houses moved, and people ran into the streets with scare. With people running around, Zhang Heng stood still, thinking quickly. "There must be a way to know when this will happen," he thought. He had seen many earthquakes in his life, and each time, people couldn't do anything. But this time, Zhang Heng decided to find a method.
For days, he could think of nothing else but the earthquake. He was a man who loved science and understood the power of nature. After studying the stars, the sky, and the earth for years, Zhang Heng had an idea—what if there was a machine that could feel earthquakes before they happened?
Without wasting any time, Zhang Heng began to work on his invention. He used bronze (青铜) to create a large container with eight dragon heads, each holding a small ball in its mouth. At the bottom of each dragon, he placed a frog. If an earthquake happened, the shaking would cause the ball to fall into the frog's mouth, showing the direction of the earthquake.
Years of hard work passed. In AD 132, Zhang Heng completed the great bronze instrument, yet there was no immediate earthquake to confirm its accuracy. Not until AD 138—more than six years later—did the Seismoscope (地动仪) prove its worth.
On a calm morning, the dragon head pointing west released its ball while Luoyang felt no tremor. Court officials doubted the warning, but several days later, a messenger arrived reporting that Longxi, far to the west, had indeed been struck by a severe earthquake.
Though his name became famous, Zhang Heng never stopped searching for answers. He knew that science was a never-ending journey, and he was always ready for the next challenge.
