Alex Rawlings is a student at Oxford University and has learned to speak languages. Last year, he won a  of finding the student who has the  to speak the most languages in Britain. Since then，the BBC has made a video of Alex speaking all of his 11 languages for their website. He was praised by lots of people. 

In the video，Alex explains that he has been  in languages all the time. Greek(希腊语)is his favorite，because his mother is half Greek and he has spoken the language since he was young. He became interested in other languages after he  to different countries for holidays. He wanted to be able to talk to local people, but he  hardly understand them. 

When he was 14, he went on a trip to the Netherlands with his family.  After that，he bought some Dutch language books and CDs(光盘). He after those CDs word by word in his free time. And the next time he went there, he found he was able to understand the  people spoke. That was the beginning of his language learning experience, and he said he had not completed learning  yet. He planned to start learning Arabic next. Alex said that he had already made many new friends through his languages. And he thought that learning new ones got  than before. He opened up a blog (博客)a few months ago. And he shared his ideas about language learning and gave advice to people  in the blog. He wanted to help others learn languages.

Many people think that English writing is difficult.  Here are some great writing tips. They will help you improve your writing in a short time. 

Don't ramble (长篇大论). This is a very common mistake made by people who have poor writing skills. When they ramble, they are not paying attention to grammar. As a result, their sentences become very long.  If you know you have poor grammar, use short sentences. 

 Think about each sentence carefully to make sure that it is right before moving on. It's better to write a short passage that is easy to read and mistake­free than to write a long article with grammar mistakes. 

Increase your vocabulary. If you don't have a large vocabulary, you will find it difficult to write as you can't find right words to express (表达)yourself clearly. The solution(解决办法) to this problem is to increase your vocabulary.  You can do this by reading newspapers, borrowing books from the library or watching English programs. 

Don't write when you are tired. Tiredness can lead to nothing to write. If you find yourself looking at the paper with nothing to write, don't just sit there! Take a walk or a warm shower, or simply lie down to get some rest.  You'll find that you enjoy your writing a lot more and make fewer mistakes!

Like many foreigners, I only knew two words of Chinese ("hello" and "thank you") when I came to China. As you can probably guess, my life was difficult for a while after I arrived. Simple tasks like ordering food or taking a taxi were quite hard for me. 

I knew I had to learn more Chinese, so I signed up for a class. My teacher was very helpful, although I didn't learn enough to have a real conversation. Later, I studied on my own as well, but my progress was still slow. I became very sad. 

Finally, I found that the best way to learn Chinese is to make friends with native speakers and spend time with them. I started playing in a band with a Chinese woman. She became one of my best friends in Beijing. I learned a lot of Chinese by hanging out with her. For example, she taught me a lot of words about music, such as "melody (旋律)". She learned a lot of English from me in return, so it was a good way to exchange(交流) language and culture.  We still talk to each other nearly every day now. 

I've learned enough Chinese to take care of complicated(复杂的) tasks, such as booking train tickets and chatting with my landlord(房东). However, going to the bank and understanding the technological vocabulary are still hard for me. 

These days, there are more foreigners who are studying Chinese. I can understand why: It's a fascinating (迷人的) language. There are always new words waiting to be discovered.
