—My hobbies and my way of thinking make me different from others.

Nobody wants to lose, but we must accept that losing is a part of life. After all, we can't win all the time. So we must know how to be a good loser. 

We must not be afraid of losing. When we lose, just take it with a smile and look on the bright side of it. Edison failed about 1,600 times before he improved the light bulb (灯泡). In history, many men and women failed many times, but they got success at last. 

Losing is not very disgraceful (丢脸的). We must accept our failure and learn to make use of it. Remember that it can be helpful. Take action to walk out of it. When we lose, think about what we did and how we can improve. If someone else can help, we'll be lucky enough. This can save us a lot of time in learning how to avoid the same mistakes in the future. 

We should face our failure when we lose. There is only one winner in every competition. Some win, while some lose. That is a usual way of life. If we offer the winners our congratulations (祝贺) and share their happiness, we won't feel sorry for our failure. 

In a word, being a good loser will help us to succeed in life. It might be painful (痛苦的) at the beginning, but there are many advantages. Good losers set examples to us, and most importantly, they finally win. 

A few months ago, I read a book.  So I started cleaning out and got a lot of things that I didn't need. And then I thought about what to do with them. 

This made me think of a kind of special sale. It helps people clean out their houses and turn things into money to help homeless children all over the world.  So I asked my boys for help, and they loved the idea of helping others. 

They walked from door to door to ask the neighbors for the things they didn't need.  At last, however, we had ten boxes full of different things. 

It was time for the yard sale. Although we had ads in newspapers and online, I was still not sure whether anyone would come.  I planned to get ￥400 to ￥500 that day. At last we got ￥768. 12! We sent money to the poor children in Haiti. Thanks for all the people who have helped us. 

 Everyone should try his or her best to help those in need. 
 

Bob left Mr Wang's classroom feeling like a loser. His teacher wrote a big "F" on his Chinese paper. Failure seemed to be all that he had in Chinese. He knew that he was in great trouble. He had a conversation with Mr Wang. He shared his experience with Mr Wang and asked, "Can you give me one good reason not to give up?"

"Look," Mr Wang said, "Do you see that fern (蕨类植物) and bamboo there?" "Yes," Bob answered. 

"When I planted the fern and bamboo seeds, I watered them carefully. Within a few days, the fern quickly grew from the land," Mr Wang went on. 

"I watered the bamboo seed for years, but it still didn't sprout (发芽). But I didn't give up and went on looking after it. In the fifth year, a small sprout came out of the land. Within six months, the tree grew a hundred feet tall. 

"The little bamboo tree had been growing underground in the past four years, developing a root strong enough for its ground growth in the fifth year. If it hadn't done this, it would not be so strong. So you know, all the time you were trying, you were actually growing strong roots," Mr Wang said. 

Bob kept listening and thinking. He was sure that he got every word the teacher said. Gradually, a smile spread slowly across his face. With hope, he left the teacher's office.
