In a neighborhood, a service team of volunteers—"Shared Children (共享儿女)"—is getting popular. It works hard to help old people without children around to be happy. 

The volunteers already made a big difference in the neighborhood. They have helped more than seventy old people these days. The volunteers learned about the old people's needs in their life and gave them a helping hand. 

At first, the neighborhood started a project to help some people in need in time. However, the neighborhood did not have enough workers toh elp so many old people. So, the idea of "Shared Children" came out. 

The number of the volunteers in the team is more than 108 now. They help the old people buy things, take a walk with them and cook for them.

____Fan Fawen is a retired (退休的) train driver. He joined the volunteer team two years ago. He often helps to repair something in the old people's homes, buys them fruit and vegetables and carries heavy things, like bags of rice and boxes. Liu Chunyan, 43, is also one of the volunteers. "Many old people now live alone and feel lonely, so we should help them and talk with th emmore often," Liu says.

"More people now start to learn about the team. We believe that more people will join us in the future," says Hao Guoying, a volunteer of the team. 

Arsh Pal, a young artist from the US, is helping people in need through his paintings. When Arsh was eight, his family bought him a watercolour set for his birthday. Then he spent all his free time practising painting. Soon, he made lots of great paintings and began giving them away to his family and friends as presents. 

Around the same time, Arsh often visited a local old people's home. His mother worked there. While visiting the care centre, Arsh foun dthat people there looked bored and lonely. So sometimes he came over to play games and talk with them. Later he decided to give them painting lessons for free. He also started selling his paintings to make money to help them. 

Over the next few years, Arsh sold many of his works and donat edthe money to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Last year, Arsh received the Diana Award (奖). It is for great young people aged 9 to 25around the world for their hard work to improve others' lives. 

"Young people can make a difference to the world, "Arsh said. "It feels good to get the Diana Award." Arsh says he will always continue his dreams of changin g the world through art. 

The rain had poured for days, turning streets into rivers. AsSim on turned on the TV, his eyes widened at the sight of water swallowing(淹 没) entire neighborhoods. "How can anyone survive this?" he whispered, his stomach tightening with worry. Simon felt a1 heart. The2 of people losing their homes and crying for help made him want to3 . "I must do something," he thought, but soon4 , "My pocket money is just a5 in the ocean."

Hello, everyone. It's great to be here to talk about supporting charity.

I often read about children living in the mountains of China.Th ey don't have enough learning resources, especially for English. I believe English is not just a language—it also gives people the chance to see the world differently. So I started thinking about what I could do for these children. 

Then, I came up with an idea: to make special English learningma terials! More than 10 classmates joined me, and we started a club called" Out of Mountains". 

Our English materials have three parts: listening, reading andw riting. We decided to publish them every month and send them to children by email. We also built a website so children could get information more easily. Each of us worked on one part, such as writing content, designing layouts, makin gillustrations and developing the website. To make the learning process more f un, we chose interesting topics for kids, like holidays. 

The hardest part was finding the children. I contacted schoolsi n Liangshan, Sichuan. I also reached out to children through some WeChat official accounts. I felt nervous talking to them and was afraid of being turned dow n,but I did my best to share our ideas. 

In the end, we got the readers we had hoped for. Every time pa rent emailed us saying, "my child really liked the story", it gave us the strength to keep going. I hope our small acts can help give these kids a better future.
