Rules in Heart, Step in Line.

In 2023, a Chinese leader at the United Nations showed a special toy-the Luban lock. He used it to share an idea, "If we work together, we stay strong. If we fall apart (破裂), we may not make it." This simple toy helped everyone understand the power of teamwork.

The Luban lock is named after Lu Ban, a famous woodworker around 2,500 years ago. People call him the "father of carpentry (木工)" in China. He made it to test (测试) his son's skills. Finally his son tried all night and put it back together by morning.

At first the Luban lock had only three pieces that fit together. Later, people created bigger types with six, twenty-four, or more pieces. The one people like best has six pieces in different colors: red, blue, white, yellow, brown and black. Putting it together needs much time and careful thinking—just like solving a hard problem! The Luban lock is also special because it comes from an old Chinese building trick called mortise-and-tenon joints(榫卯结构). Long ago, workers used this way to build strong houses—without nails (钉子) !

Now, in Tengzhou, Shandong Province, many people still make Luban locks. It is both a fun game and a piece of history. When you play with it, you're learning from the clever minds of ancient Chinese people!

Uh-oh! Our country has made a plan to help everyone keep fit! Studies show that by 2030. 70.5% of adults and 31.8% of children could be overweight (超重的). So, having a healthy weight is very important for all of us. 

★What is a healthy weight?

Your Body Mass Index (BMI，体重指数) can help you find out! You can use your height and weight to work out if you are fit. For Chinese teenagers, a BMI between 15 and 22 is healthy.  And over 26 means obesity (肥胖).

★How can we eat?

First, eat more kinds of foods. Try to eat 12 or more different foods every day and 25 or more every week.  During each meal, remember to have vegetables before meat, fish, eggs and beans. Finally, eat rice, noodles and potatoes. Third, eat slowly and on time. No more snacks after 9 pm!

You need at least 150 minutes of moderate (中等的) exercise every week. You can ride a bike, play basketball, or go jogging. Also, pay attention to your sleep.  This helps your body grow strong and controls hunger.

Keeping fit is not that hard! Everyone should try it! Remember, small changes make a big difference.

①If you go to some subway stations in Beijing now, you may see little footprints (脚印) on the escalators (自动扶梯). They tell riders: Instead of standing on one side, they can stand side by side.

②For years, standing on the right and walking on the left has been a rule for escalator riders. They think it is a good habit and helps everyone go faster.

③However, there are problems behind it.

④Standing on one side is harmful to the escalators. The right side becomes heavy while the left side stays light. Over time, the escalators may lean (倾斜). Also, it can't really make everyone go faster. Studies show that when people stand on one side, the escalator can carry about 80 people every minute. But when everyone stands side by side, the escalator can carry over 100 people!

⑤Most importantly, walking on an escalator is dangerous. Escalator steps are high. People can fall and get hurt easily.

⑥So, what is the best way to take escalators? Just hold on and stand still on both sides.

Do you ever feel like having a little adventure (历险) ? Dou Bao certainly does! This 1.5-year-old capybara (水豚) lives in a zoo in Yangzhou. She ran away with two other capybaras on April 3!

This all happened while zookeepers were sleeping. Ba Zong, a 3-year-old boy capybara, broke a wooden window with his head and ran away. Dou Bao and anther girl capybara, Duo Duo, quickly followed him into the night. When morning came, zookeepers then teamed up for the big chase (追捕).

Ba Zong was the first to be found, swimming happily in a pond. When he saw the keepers, he swam faster. The keepers chased him for a whole day and caught him.

A few weeks later, the keepers found Duo Duo. The 2-year-old capybara likes to hide underwater. The keepers had to catch her with a net. Poor Duo Duo lost 2 kilograms during the run.

All had returned except Dou Bao! On May 11, the zoo sent out a reward poster (悬赏公告) to catch her. Her keepers missed her terribly and prepared her favorite snacks: melons and fresh grass. Luckily, on June 3. this furry explorer was finally caught. Her keepers were amazed to find Dou Bao had gained half a kilo!

The zoo official said that their "runaway child had returned home". Dou Bao is now reunited with Ba Zong and Duo Duo! The search was finally over.

Anna is an old woman. She has a small fruit shop in a town, but she never eats them. She wants to make more money.

A little boy Tom, one of her neighbours, often1 oranges there. Every time after giving the money to Anna, he always chooses one,2 a piece of it and says it's not sweet. Then give the rest back to Anna. Anna often takes a bite, smiles and says, "But it's3 to me."

Tom's friend asks him, "The oranges are 4 . Why do you say that?" "Anna sells sweet oranges but never eats them. Because she needs lots of money for her husband's illness (疾病). I do this so she can enjoy one and not lose 5 for her hard life." Tom answers.

When you are kind to others, they also bring more love to you. You will feel enjoyable in little 10 of love. Love makes the world warm and bright.

Last year, an earthquake (地震) hit our town. Everyone was  (scare) that night. The ground shook hard. People ran out of their homes, shouting in fear. Among them were my neighbor Mr. Wang and  (he) family. My mom and I were stuck in our house at first because the door was closed. Mr. Wang heard our cries and came back  (help). He pulled the door open with all his strength and guided us to a safe place. 

After the earthquake  (stop), we saw many people get hurt. Mr. Wang and my mom helped carry an old lady from the  (two) floor. She had a broken leg, so they moved her  (careful) to a temporary (临时的) hospital. At the same time, some young people set up  (tent) for the children and elders. Although we were tired, we stayed together. To help others better, we decided  (share) food and water with each other. 

That experience taught me that human care and unity could light up the way in the darkest moments. 

Nowadays learning to play a musical instrument (乐器) is very popular. It is hard work, but it can also be rewarding and fun. Research shows that playing an instrument is great for your brain, and this is especially true for children. But that doesn't mean everyone should play an instrument. What do you think?

Yes-it's so good for children

Studies show that children who play music do better in school. Learning to play an instrument helps with math. It also makes their brain better at thinking and remembering. They only need to play for one or two years to get these benefits (好处). Learning to play an instrument also needs patience, hard work, and practice. Through these, they'll get lifelong skills of self-control and confidence. Besides, learning to play music is joyful. Along the way to play music, children will become more creative. 

No-it's not for every child

It's not realistic (现实的) to think that every child will have chances to have musical lessons or time for them. What's more, many children aren't interested in music or very good at playing an instrument. They will begin to feel bored about music if someone forces (强迫) them to play. One study even found that children can only get benefits from learning an instrument when they're truly interested in it. If not, lessons will stop them from discovering activities they may really enjoy or be good at. 

Labor (劳动) education can make students active and happy in life. Through it, they can learn the meaning of labor  its importance. 

In fact, some schools already had interesting labor classes. Kids  a school in Chongqing had a class about feeding animals and learning about their habits. In Fenyi Middle School, kids made tofu a millstone (磨盘). They even tasted tofu made themselves. There are other students who prefer growing vegetables. And when vegetables are ready, they can have a taste of their own hard work. What kind of labor skill do you want to learn most?

On April 18th each year, people around the world celebrate the International Day for Monuments and Sites. In China, young people are learning more about the importance of the country's history and culture. 

Xu Danyang is a young archaeologist (考古学家) working in Sichuan. In 2021, he dug out an amazing treasure. It shows a man on his knees with his head turned.  Xu was surprised and happy when he dug out something so important. However, he said, "Archaeology isn't just about digging treasure.  The knowledge that you need and the dirt you deal with, neither of them is easy. "

Zhang Bin is a young tour guide in Xi' an.  He is very familiar with the wonderful Terracotta Army and he tells them everything he knows about it. 

 It is famous on the Internet. He marked about 10, 000 places like bridges and houses. Now, Wu wants to make his map better with help from people on the Internet. One day, he will share this amazing map with others who love history and culture just like him. 

One day, 50 people were listening to a speech about happiness. However, several minutes later, people gradually lost their attention (注意力). The speaker came up with an idea. He stopped his speech and asked all of the people to take part in a group activity. 

He gave a single balloon to each person in the room. They were asked to write their names on the balloon with black markers. Then, all of the balloons were collected and moved to another room. 

The 50 people were then guided to enter the room and told to find the balloon that had their name written on it. Everyone rushed around, frantically (疯狂地) searching for their balloon. People were bumping into and tripping (绊倒) over each other. 

But after five minutes of searching, no one could find their own balloon. 

After seeing this, the speaker asked each person to collect a balloon and try to find the person whose name was written on it. Everyone started talking to each other and asking each other for their name. Within minutes, everyone had his or her own balloon. 

"Can you see what happened?" the speaker said. "The balloons are like the happiness we want to get in our own lives. Everyone is busy looking for their own happiness, not caring what happens to others. But sometimes the best way to find happiness is to help others. Help them find happiness and you can find your own. "

I was a really shy girl in school. During classes, I kept quiet most of the time. Whenever a teacher 1 me to answer questions, I would give the shortest answers. Then I just sat on my seat quietly, feeling so alone. 

As days went by, I felt sadder and lonelier. I finally opened up to my sister. "I'm so 2 , " I told her. She said, "If you want things to change, you've got to do something. Nothing will get better if you just sit around 3 things will change one day, and you won't make friends until you take the first step. " After hearing that, I made up my mind. 

One day, during a group discussion in class, I took a deep breath and shared my thoughts. Slowly but surely, my classmates started 4 me. For the first time, I felt like I was a part of the class.
