Dragon-Head-Raising Festival is celebrated ①    ▲     the second day of the second Chinese lunar month to show respect to Dragon King and wish good weather for a big harvest. It is considered the start of spring and farming.

After a long winter, spring comes and animals are awake, but the weather is dry and farming needs water. The story goes that after this day, the Dragon King who controls clouds and rains would wake from his winter sleep and bring rainfall for the crops. It is said that after that day there will be more and more rain.

The most well - known tradition on the day is having a haircut. It's a sign of good luck and energy in the whole year. However,    it    is    very    bad    luck    to    get    a    haircut    during    the    first lunar    month.

Eating "dragon" food is another important part of celebrations. As we all know, Chinese are good ②    ▲     connecting certain food with luck, so food eaten on this day also gets special names. Noodles which are long and thin are called "dragon beard (long xu)." Dumplings are called "dragon ears (long er)." Spring rolls are "dragon scales (long lin)", and people call popcorn "dragon seeds (long zi)".

Those celebration activities may be different in the south and the north, and some activities are remained to nowadays, while some are just kept in the past. But the wish for a good year ahead is the same despite the change of time or space.

Friendship comes before competition. It's easy to say but hard to do. However,11-year-old Jerome, a boy from Australia, did it and set a good example for us.

Jerome was good at running. Of all the races he took part in, he always got the first prize. But last November, after giving up winning a school race, the boy won the (heart) of thousands of people. In the race, kind Jerome ran back to help his good friend Seth to stand up again after he (fall) down. And then he encouraged him (keep) running and let him cross the finishing line first.

In recent years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has started to appear in many schools around the world. Some schools use AI tools to help students learn languages or improve their maths . They can even explain things , helping students understand better.

Teachers are also using AI to check homework and prepare lessons more easily. Many believe that AI is not here to replace teachers, but to help them. Most students are happy about learning with AI. So many schools are thinking about including AI tools  their teaching.

Salt can be seen everywhere and the people need it in their lives.  You might not think so, but people in China eat on average about 12 grams of salt each day, that is much higher than the 6 grams suggested by the World Health Organization.

What problems can eating too much salt cause?  Salt is a chemical compound (化合物) which is used to keep and add taste to foods. A small amount of salt is important for good health because our bodies need it to work. But eating too much salt may cause illnesses, such as heart and kidney (肾) problems. If you want to cut down on salt, here are some simple things to do.

Cut back on high salt foods.

Most foods contain some salt inside. But some foods such as smoked fish, smoked meat, bacon, pickles (泡菜) and chips are almost always high in salt because of the way they are made. 

Choose food that has salt.

You could be eating too much without realizing it. Because about 75% of the salt we eat is already in the food we buy. So when you are shopping next time, take the time to compare the salt levels on a few similar products. 

The man in the picture is a Chinese dancer, Ma Jiaolong. Since 2020, he's made short videos of himself dancing abroad. He danced at the city's parks and landmarks(地标) like Tower Bridge in London. The 35-year-old has nearly 5million followers on Douyin(抖音).

Classical Chinese dance mixes martial arts movements(武术动作) with those of traditional Chinese opera. Ma started to learn it at 12. Later, Ma studied at the Beijing Dance Academy. Since 2019, he has been teaching classical Chinese dance at Goldsmiths, University of London. Two years ago, Ma had to give online classes because of Covid-19. During that time, in his small home, he could only make small moves. One day, he danced at Greenwich Park. His wife took videos of Ma. He then edited the video, added music, and sent it to his friends. They really loved it. From then on, Ma Jiaolong took his wife's suggestion and made more short videos. As his videos went popular, he received messages from people around the world. Seeing the messages, his eyes were filled with tears. At that moment, he felt all the hard work was worth it.

"Now, making and sharing short videos has become a part of my life, and most importantly, a great way to introduce traditional Chinese dance to more people, especially those in foreign countries. " said Ma.
