The first argument that supports pet ownership by children is that they are good company. When children come home from school, pets are always there to greet them. They love children and always love to play. As a result, children won't be lonely. They will also help to keep children active as they will need to be walked and played with every day.

In short, there are many arguments for and against pet ownership. Pets help to keep children company, fit, and they also help them to learn new responsibilities. However, pets can be dangerous, they require a lot of care, and they cost a lot of money to be taken care of properly. 

Everyone wants a blue ribbon（丝带）because it's the best in sports. However, I was never a blue ribbon person because I was always the last in races. In baseball I either got hit on the head or dropped the ball. In basketball I was fine as long as there weren't nine other people playing with me.

When we graduated 3 years later, I gave a speech to that same group of students, and told them about that little boy who had made a decision that helping a friend up was more important than winning a blue ribbon. In my speech I told them that I wouldn't tell which of the guys was the little boy although he was up on the stage with me. I wouldn't tell because, in truth, at one time all of them could be that little boy——helping me up when I fell. Each of them could take time out from their own work to help a person in need. 

You may not have a blue ribbon to tell others that you are a winner, but I hope you have at least a few friends. They remember you for taking time out from your work for that blue ribbon to help them.
