Visiting outer space is still a far dream for anyone who isn't an astronaut, but a day trip to the stars is already open for people to order!

A new company, Space Perspective, is planning tests with passengers. It has big plans to run up to 500 flights from different places across the USA by 2024. If successful, reaching the outer side of space could be as easy as flying abroad in a few years' time. The plan will be for spacemen and up to eight passengers to travel in Neptune, a capsule(太空舱) tied to a balloon the size of a football field.

They will move slowly upwards right to the side of space, 30km away from the Earth. There, space tourists will be able to look back at the Earth and out to dark space and the sight of millions of stars. Although the price is yet to be fixed, the expensive flight, which will take six hours, is likely to cost over ￡100,000. Because the capsule remains within the Earth's atmosphere(大气层), no special clothing or training are needed. It means that older people or those with health problems will be included.

One problem may be the method of landing back on the Earth. The balloon moves back down from space until it falls down in the sea. Passengers, spacemen, capsule and balloon are then gotten back by ship.

Now Neptune faces competition from the Stratollite, a balloon being developed by a company called World View Enterprises, while the super-rich Richard Branson, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk are all pouring money into developing business space flying machines. The advantage of the balloon is that it will be cheaper than a space plane or rocket.

Space travel may soon be a reality(现实),but how visitors get there is still a very open question.

It's been 100 years since the actor and filmmaker Charlie Chaplin produced the film The Kid,which many consider to be his greatest one.

Like all films at the time, The Kid was made in black and white and was silent (made without any sound, not even the characters talking). The story is about the relationship between "the Tramp", played by Chaplin, and his adopted(领养的) child, played by Jackie Coogan. The pair develop a partnership where the six-year-old boy breaks windows and runs away, so that Chaplin's character can offer his services as a window fixer.

Although the film is a comedy, it also has some tragedy, reflecting Chaplin's own life. He started testing actors for the role of the Kid just a few days after his baby son had died. Chaplin was known for being hard to please, and it is said that if he could, he would have played every role in every one of his films. When Chaplin visited a theater, a dancer brought his son, Jackie Coogan, on stage, and Chaplin knew he had his co-star(联袂主演者). Chaplin later wrote, "All children in some form have talents; the trick is to bring it out in them. With Jackie it was easy."

Like the Kid in the film, Chaplin and his brother Sydney grew up very poor. They lived in London and were raised by their mother. When Chaplin was 10 years old, his mom became too ill to look after her sons, so they had to take care of themselves. He later wrote that the film sets in The Kid were based(基于) on the places where he and Sydney had lived with their mother as children. "Perhaps that's why the film had some truth." he said.

Humans share Earth with many different kinds of wildlife. However, many of our animal friends may not be around for much longer.

According to the Living Planet Report released by WWF in October, populations of several animals, including mammals, birds and fish, had fallen by an average of 60% since 1970. According to the report, if there was a 60% drop in the human population, that would mean to emptying North America, South Africa, Europe, part of East Asia and Oceania," Mike Barrett, executive director of science and conservation at WWF, told the Guardian.

And one of the biggest causes of wildlife loss is human activity. Three quarters of the world's land has been affected by human activity. Many natural habitats(栖息地) have been destroyed to build farmland. About 300 mammal species are dying out because humans are over-eating them. Another example is the industrial over-fishing of the oceans, the Guardian noted.

The challenge we face is to find ways to meet the needs of our growing population while protecting the environment, the WWF said. It has called on world governments and business to work together to protect people and nature.

The situation in China is not positive, either. According to a report by China Daily in November, Chinese paddlefish(白鲟) may be dying out. And there are now less than 500 green peafowl in the wild, CCTV reported in June.

To protect endangered animals, China has taken many measures and made progress already. For example, China has banned(禁止) the use of rhino horn and tiger bones, as well as banned ivory trading, China Daily reported. It also stresses increasing public awareness(意识) by holding activities.

My neighbor is a doctor. He and his wife are some of the1 people I have ever met. A few years ago, we started this kind of "favor war" where one of us would do something kind for the other, such as 2 the driveway or building a shed, and next time the other would 3 to top it with another favor.

Sorry I haven't e-mailed lately—I've been very busy since becoming a volunteer for the Riding for the Disabled Association(残疾人协会) .

Every Saturday, I help to get the horses ready the disabled riders. Many more disabled people want to ride horses than you'd imagine. It's a disadvantage that I don't know to ride—but I'll learn soon enough. Right now, I'm just happy to be able (lead) the horses around for the disabled riders.

According to NPR news, 45% of teens say they are stressed(焦虑的) by school pressure, such as homework and grades. High school, and all of the honors can stress out teens like Clara to the point of exhaustion, but it doesn't have to be this way. Lots of students can try different ways to calm down during their school day. Listening to music can be one of those ways.

When the body is stressed, it releases cortisol(皮质醇). By playing music, students stop the flow(流动) of cortisol released from their body, then returning to their normal, non-stressed self—quicker than someone who don't hear or play any music. When returning to this state, teens can think more clearly, with their stress gone.

Music does not only calm the stressed mind, it develops creativity, as well as improving math and reading skills. A music class can help students who are stressed and give them an hour of relaxation during their day. This can help high schoolers have a clear mind to give attention to their schoolwork.

Now, I know you're thinking, "What about kids who find playing a musical instrument hard or boring? How would taking a music class help them?" Well, even though playing an instrument doesn't necessarily help all teens, it is agreed that there are very few teens who do not listen to music. This shows that all students in their own way, like hearing music throughout their day. The music that they listen to calms them and helps them make it through their schoolwork. That being said, all schools should have a required hour of "relaxation" time when high schoolers would listen to music, do easy homework, and calm themselves down after their long school day.

Music helps kids in their education, providing them with a brighter future and making sure that they take care of their generation, the generation before them, and the generation to come.

In Australia, international students have to study at a language centre for two terms. Everyone will have a test before entering school. The degree of the test is from easy to difficult, just like a game. Then students will get into a classroom which is suitable for them.

The classes in a language centre are free. There are no specific(具体的) subjects. Each teacher can teach anything they want. Some of them allow students to use computers to search for information online. Some like to hold activities to make students exchange their opinions freely in class. Some introduce Australian history through films.

As one of the students in the learning centre, I find all of them are friendly. They welcome all of our questions. One of my teachers, Don, is kind. I used to have problems. "Do you need help?" he asked me after class. I was not familiar with him so I was too shy to share my real feelings. "Don't hesitate(犹豫) to ask me if you have any questions," he said. He looked at me and smiled. I told him my trouble in a small voice. I couldn't understand the vocabulary. To my surprise, he gave me a sheet of words and asked me to remember them. Then I found his class simple and interesting.

Don has a great sense of humour, too. When we learned about probability(可 能性), he let us give him some examples like, "What is the chance of..." Someone joked, "What is the chance of Don becoming angry?" He pretended(假 装) to be angry at once. But soon he laughed with us.
