The younger you

Looking at the new 5-yuan note in my hand, I felt a mix of feelings. When the summer vacation started, my mom challenged me to do something 1 without giving up halfway. I decided to collect empty bottles from the streets to protect the environment and 2 my willpower (意志力).

On the first day, I 3 three streets but found nothing. A street cleaner, with a bag full of 4 , joked that I should finish my drink and give her my bottle.

Nowadays, many people spend much time on smartphones and computers. Using electronic devices(设备) too often brings some eye problems. People usually look at screens for a long time without rest.  Some also have dry eyes, red eyes or blurred vision (视线模糊). So it's important for us to learn how to take good care of our eyes. Here are some useful ways to protect your eyes.

Take regular breaks. Every 20 minutes, look at something far away for about 20 seconds. This short rest can give your eyes a good relax. It stops your eyes from staying tired for too long.

Adjust the screen. Keep it not too bright or too dark, and make the text easy to read.  It also helps you see words clearly without much effort.

Blink (眨眼) more often.    Many people forget to blink when they are watching screens. Blinking often is a very easy but useful habit.

 Simple eye exercises can help relax our tired eyes. You can look up, down, left and right slowly.

Doing these exercises several times a day makes your eyes much healthier.

I come from a poor village with no universities. After I finished Grade Ten, my father told me he could no longer support my education. That night, I felt very sad and helpless.
