Our school once held a cultural fair to celebrate the Lantern Festival. Everyone was expected (show) their skills in traditional arts to present the beauty of Chinese culture. Several calligraphy masters (invite) as judges.

I decided to practice brush calligraphy, and my friend Yun offered to compose a matching poem. We planned to share a work inspired by the classic Orchid Pavilion Preface《兰亭序》 the audience. When we were preparing, we faced a lot of challenges. We even doubted we could succeed or not. But we did not give up. Instead, we practiced even (careful) every afternoon and asked for advice from our teacher.

On the day of the fair, I felt nervous but (excite). When it was our turn, we stepped forward in traditional clothes. To (we) surprise, the audience praised the "classical elegance" of our work when we finished.

After the event, we discussed how we had touched the spirit of the ancients. I realized that we should never stop (work) to master a traditional art. progress may be slow at first, we believe that as long as we persevere (坚持), we will eventually understand its essence.

This experience not only deepened our cultural pride but also taught us the value of hard work and respect for tradition. It was unforgettable journey for us all.

Have you ever watched the famous Disney movie Tangled (《魔发奇缘》), which tells the sweet and lovely story of Princess Rapunzel with long, magical golden hair?

Elsie Kennedy, 14, from Australia, loved Rapunzel very much, so she grew her hair down to her waist from a young age. She hoped that her hair could be used to make a warm and comfortable wig (假发) for a child fighting cancer (癌症).

" Now I'm excited to get a new look, and I'm glad my hair will help others a lot," Kennedy said. She got her first-ever haircut at her school, the Scone Grammar School, in early 2024. Wigs 4 Kids is a kind and helpful program run by Kids with Cancer Foundation in Australia.

She wanted more students to know about those kids. That was why she had her hair cut publicly at the school. Students were then encouraged to wear purple clothes or donate money to show their warmth and support. Kennedy chose purple because it is Rapunzel's special and favorite color.

By January 2025, Kennedy had raised over 11,000 dollars. "To know that my movement will help kids and families going through a really hard time is amazing," she said.

The book was on my reading list when I was in primary school in Poland. It was quite a thick book. But once I started, I couldn't put it down, even reading under my blanket (毯子) with a flashlight past bedtime.

Pippi lives alone in a house called Villa Villekulla. To me, she is a great example of strength and independence. In a world full of rules, Pippi always has the courage to be odd. She doesn't follow any rules, she doesn't go to school, and she lives with a horse and a monkey. She cooks, cleans and manages her money. She is so strong that she can even lift her own horse!

For anyone feeling worried about being themselves, Pippi's world reminds us that creativity and kindness matter more than fitting in (合群).

In Guangzhou, 310 students from Yuyan Middle School enjoyed a five-day spring break in March. With teachers staying with them, they looked into history and science at sites like the Museum of Dr Sun Yat-sen and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. In Zhuhai Aerospace Land, some even tried hands-on science experiments, like building small model rockets and watching stars in the sky through telescopes. "While others are stuck in classrooms, we're out enjoying ourselves and learning new things," one of the students said happily.

Yin Xianwen, the head teacher of the school, sees it as a great way to learn. "Watching plants grow is a lesson in nature, visiting historical sites is a history lesson, and traveling together is a lesson in social skills," Yin told People's Daily. "It offers students the chance to get valuable growth experiences during the most beautiful season."

Also, spending the spring break with families is encouraged. It makes family ties stronger through fun activities like easy trips or park visits. Children can get away from heavy homework and endless exams and feel closer to their families.

However, there are some challenges. Not all parents can take time off. when their kids do, so some children may end up staying home and playing on their phones for hours. Schools also need to find a way to fit all their lessons into the new schedule without rushing. To make these breaks work well, the government, schools, parents and communities need to work together, noted People's Daily.
