Silk is a thin yet strong material made by silkworms for their cocoons(蚕茧). It is made into soft, smooth cloth. Silk (invent) in ancient China and played an important role in Chinese culture and its economy for thousands of years.

However, if finally spread to other countries when two (travel) took some silkworm eggs out of China. They hid the eggs (secret) inside their bamboo walking sticks.
Silk was such an important product from China that it lent its name to the trade route Europe to China. Along the Silk Road, goods like spices and metals were traded. People also shared knowledge about science, art. The Silk Road had a big effect on the world that we can still see today.
