What makes a great team?

Teamwork is important in school, sports, and even everyday life. But what makes a team  (true) great? A strong team is more than just a group of people working together—it  (require) trust, communication, and cooperation. Here are some key factors (因素) that help a team succeed. 

Clear goals

Every great team knows what it wants to achieve. Whether it's winning a game, finishing a project, or solving a problem, everyone should understand the goal. Without a clear purpose, team  (member) may work in different directions and waste time. 

Good communication

Team members need to share ideas and listen to each other. If someone has a suggestion, they should feel comfortable speaking up.  the same time, others should respect different opinions. 

Different roles and strengths

A great team uses  (everyone) skills wisely. Some people are good at (plan), while others are better at creative tasks. By giving each person a suitable role, the team can work more efficiently. 

Trust and respect

Team members must trust and encourage one another.  someone makes a mistake, others should help instead of blaming (责备) them. Respect is also important—no one should ignore or laugh at their teammates' ideas. 

A positive attitude

Even when facing difficulties,  great team stays positive. Instead of giving up, they work together  (find) solutions. A positive attitude helps the team overcome challenges and keeps everyone  (excite) about their work. 

In a word, a great team is built on teamwork, not just individual talent. 

Good morning, everyone! Today, it's my to share some stories that show how to communicate with others. 

Last summer, I joined a local community event. At first, I didn't know  there until I met a new friend named Tom. At first, I had difficulty in  a conversation. To break the ice, I asked, "What do you usually do in your free time?" This simple question caught his attention. He  with great enthusiasm (热情), telling me about his love for painting. By listening to the of his hobby, I could understand him better, and our conversation continued. 

I also remember a time when I had a(n)  with my classmate, Lily. We were working on a project together. I thought she didn't do her part well and she thought I was being too bossy (专横的). We had a hard time communicating. But when we sat down and were  with each other, we realized it was just a misunderstanding. We sincerely expressed (表达) our feelings and listened to each other's thoughts. , we found a solution. 

So when communicating with others, always be sincere and show  in them. You should pay attention to your words and expressions. Try to talk to people in person when you have the opportunity. Avoid misunderstandings by being honest.  we keep these points in mind, we can communicate better in any event.

When we talk about communication, we often think of talking with others. But do you know that we also talk to ourselves?

For example, your mum asks you what you would like for breakfast. Many foods come to your mind: sandwiches, bread, milk. . . You might ask yourself, "Which is healthier?" or "Which one do I want today?" You think quietly and decide to have sandwiches. So, before you tell your mum what you want to eat, you are talking with yourself. 

There are many kinds of inner (内在的) communication in our daily lives, like reading, writing, thinking, and remembering things. It also includes planning our day, solving problems, and even imagining the future Inner communication is just like a secret conversation happening inside us. 

Inner communication plays a role in our lives. It allows you to think about your own values and make it clear who you are.  When you know what you want, you can get on with yourself better. Also, inner communication helps keep an eye on your thoughts and realize your emotional state (状态)  And then you will try to cheer up and let them go. 

 If you understand your thoughts better, you will put yourself in others' shoes when you talk to or listen to them. Then, you can communicate with people more easily and build good relationships with them. 

Leisa works in the dining hall of a primary school in Virginia. She has been working there for more than four years. Her job is to serve breakfast and lunch to the students. 

Because Leisa has a hearing problem, the students there weren't able to communicate well with her. When ordering food, they just pointed. This year, however, things changed a lot. It all started with one teacher, Kari. 

Kari is a fourth-grade teacher at the school. She learnt American Sign Language (ASL, 美式手语) because some of her family members have hearing problems. One day, she started a conversation in ASL with Leisa in the dining hall. The teacher found that the students there had stopped eating. They watched the ASL conversation with interest. 

The next day, Kari asked her students, "Would you like to learn how to use your hands to talk to Leisa?" Everyone in the class said yes. She then began teaching the children some simple ASL. 

When the headmaster (校长) heard about this, she decided that the whole school should learn how to sign. Now, all of the students and workers at the school are eager to learn this new skill. They learn and practise a new word in ASL every week. And Leisa is feeling so loved at work!

A good conversation happens when people are asking each other the right kinds of questions and then giving the right answers. Let's take a look at four different types of questions you can use in a conversation. 

Type①: The Open-ended Question

An open-ended question is a question that cannot be answered with "yes" or "no". The opposite is a close-ended question. Close-ended questions always end the conversation. An open-ended question allows you to learn more about the other person and gives you something to reply to. 

Type②: The Follow-up Question

When it comes to conversations, a follow-up question is something that is asked based on what the other person already said. In order to ask a good follow-up question, you need to listen carefully. Follow-up questions keep the conversation moving and show the other person you were listening to what they said. 

Type③: The Clarifying (澄清) Question

When do you need to ask a clarifying question? There are two situations, first, that is when the information you heard was unclear. And second, that is when you are having trouble understanding what the speaker is trying to express. A clarifying question can be open-ended or close-ended. 

Type④: The Superlative (最高级的) Question

Questions, like "What is the best trip you've ever taken?" or "What's your most unforgettable thing?" really let you learn more about the person you're having a conversation with.
