Around 500 AD, a new number system was born in India. Later it was known as Arabic numbers (阿拉伯数字),_Ait was largely used by Arabian businessmen and people. Roman popes (教皇) stopped the use of Arabic numbers when the new system came to Europe. They said that Roman numbers were invented by God and were perfect to use. However, compared with Arabic numbers, Roman numbers didn't have a symbol for zero and were too complicated (复杂) to use. From the 14th century on, Roman numbers began to be replaced by the more convenient Arabic numbers.

Today, people still use Roman numbers, though not so often.You may find these numbers on some clocks or the front pages of books. You may also see them after the names of kings, queens or popes (e.g. Elizabeth II). Sometimes they are used on gravestones (墓碑) as well.

I can still remember someone who changed my world. She was a music teacher at my primary school. She was good at playing the guitar. I wanted to impress her. However, I didn't know how to any instrument.

One day, she let me try playing her guitar. I did  best, but I couldn't play it well . it was done, I put my head down. "I guess I am not very good," I told her. She looked at me with her kind , smiled at me and said, "We are all good at something. You just need to find out what you are good at. Then, you can share it  the world."

Those simple words  changed me. They planted a seed (种子) in my soul that continues to   to this day. They made me that I had something good inside me. I just had to find it and share it.

Can you change the world? Yes, you can! You can change it through one choice, one person, or one kind act at  time. All you have to do is to share your goodness. Mother Teresa once said, "God doesn't ask us to do great things, only small things with great love."  everyone does it, the world will be a better place to live in.

Teenagers especially enjoy these videos. Many junior high school students said they enjoyed watching these short videos. The videos let teenagers see funny and exciting things they don't usually see. Many teens like to share the fun things they do with others as well. For example, a 12-year-old user named Xiaoqianyu has posted videos showing her learning jazz dance. This has won her many fans.

However, the videos can also cause trouble. Some students spend too much time watching them and don't spend enough time studying.

To deal with this problem, Douyin added a new function (功能) in April. Itlocks the app if someone uses the app for over two hours a day. In the same month, the government asked companies to regulate (管理) these apps much more strictly.

One day, the king saw one bird fly very high, very quickly. However, the other bird just sat on the branch (树枝) and didn't move even a step. The trainer said that he had tried everything he could but still failed to make the bird move. Soon, the king announced that he needed someone to make it move and fly.

A few weeks later, an old man reached the king's palace andassured him that he would make the bird fly like the other one. The king asked the trainer to take the old man to train the bird.

The next day, the king went to visit the old man. He was surprised to see the other bird fly like the first one to a great height at a rapid speed. The king was very happy and gifted the old man quite a few gold coins and asked the old man what he had done to make the bird fly in a day. The old man simply replied, "I just cut down the branch of the tree where the bird used to sit on."

Many of us are like this. We have wings to fly; we know how to fly, and where to fly. Still we sit doing nothing or doing something that makes us inferior (较差的) to others.

Song brocade (锦) is one of China's traditional brocades. This art once nearly , but thanks to Qian Xiaoping's help, it has become popular again now.

Qian Xiaoping  as an engineer to protect silk artworks. Years ago, because of the possible loss of this art form, she  to save Song brocade.

Her first challenge was to find Song brocade works. Luckily, she found one by chance, which later unlock its weaving(编织) secrets. Qian's second challenge was to rebuild a  loom(织布机). There were different kinds of looms at that time, but none could produce the Song brocade designs.After solving many difficult problems, she successfully  back Song brocade.

In 2006, Song brocade  to China's national intangible cultural heritage list. Qian became its national-level inheritor in 2007. Since then, Qian  many Song brocade artworks.

Now, Qian understands that cultural heritage must keep up with the times to survive(生存). So she has developed new ideas  young people."If we don't make new designs, young people will not be interested in Song brocade," she says.

In 2023, Qian a training program and began to write books to pass on her skills.
