Why do we read, and sometimes even write poetry? This question is easy to answer if we change the word poetry to songs. 

I sing when I feel good. When I sing my favourite songs, I feel much better. Sometimes when I am listening to music and the song words, I feel that they are written for me. A good song always makes me feel something. There are songs that I sing in my head between classes and songs that I want to sing when the school is over. They help me spend the day. 

They are like bright and warm colours in the middle of greys and shades. I like songs about love and friendship. My feelings are more special when I sing my favourite songs in English. 

I also like reading. I used to avoid (避免) poetry until an e-pal told me I should recite poems and not look up the meaning of the words. Poetry uses many difficult words and idioms (习语), but the best thing is to just forget about them. At first I felt quite strange. Now I always close the door and read aloud. Reading aloud gives you a strange feeling, but when you have some practice and fall into the rhythm (韵律), the rhyme (押韵) and the sounds of the words, it is really a special experience (体验). 

I began with small poems, but now I think I like long poems best. I have different feelings with different poems. When I have had a bad day at school, I read Keats and forget everything. When I am sad, I read Wordsworth by the light of a candle. When the poem is finished, I close the book and my sadness is gone. 

A bird went to look for its happiness in a faraway place. It flew and flew when it suddenly saw a little dying flower, whose face was full of smiles. Not knowing why, the bird asked the little flower, "You're going to die. Why are you still so 1 ?"

 "Because I will achieve my dream," said the little flower. 

 "2 is your dream?" 

"To produce sweet fruits. "

Then the little bird saw it: happiness is 3 in the heart. The bird continued flying and saw a disabled duck help another duck find the way back home. Although it was disabled, it had a 4 face. 

 "I'm happy because I can help others," said the disabled duck. So the bird saw it: happiness is love in the heart. 

 The bird kept flying and 5 saw a spider climbing up a wall. The spider fell off the wall halfway, but it kept climbing again and fell off again. Even so, the spider didn't 6 . The little bird asked the spider in surprise, "You 7 again and again, but why don't you have pain but happiness 8 your face?" "As long as I keep making my 9 , I'm able to climb up the wall. Because of this, I'm so happy," said the spider. 

The little bird saw it: happiness is belief(信念) in the heart. 

So the little bird no longer looked for happiness 10 it had seen the truth: happiness is not in the faraway place but in your own heart.

I'm John. This term, I have some new subjects, and I'm really interested in them.

One of the new subjects is astronomy. It's all about the stars, planets, and the universe. I've always been curious about what's out there in space. In astronomy class, our teacher shows us amazing pictures of galaxies and tells us interesting facts about the solar system. I'm learning a lot and really enjoying it.

Another new subject is physics. At first, I thought it would be difficult, but our physics teacher makes it fun. We do experiments in class, like making a simple electric circuit. It's so cool to see how things work. I'm starting to understand some basic principles of physics.

I'm excited to learn more in these new subjects. I believe they will open up new worlds for me and help me grow as a learner.

In our class, everyone is unique. We have different hobbies, interests, and personalities.

Li Ming is good at sports. He often takes part in running races and always gets good results. He is very energetic and likes to encourage others to exercise.

Wang Mei is a book - lover. She spends a lot of time reading different kinds of books in the school library. She can share many interesting stories with us.

Zhang Hua is creative. He likes making DIY projects. He once made a model plane by himself. It was really amazing.

We all respect each other's differences. We learn from each other and help each other. This makes our class a warm and friendly place.

I'm in a new class this term. At first, I was a little nervous about making new friends and learning new1 . But as the days went by, I found that my classmates were really friendly.

One of my new friends is Tom. He is very 2 and often makes us laugh. We share the same3 in sports. We both like playing basketball. After class, we often play basketball together on the playground. It's really a great way to relax and 4 our friendship.

In our class, we also have some interesting subjects. I like physics best. It's a challenging subject, but I find it really 5 . Our physics teacher is very knowledgeable and teaches us in a fun way.
