Today, we are more connected than before. People from different countries and cultural backgrounds come together for study, work, and travel. As a middle-school student, you might have the chance to meet friends from all over the world. While this is an exciting chance to learn about new cultures, it can sometimes lead to misunderstandings or cultural conflicts (冲突). Here are some tips on how to avoid cultural conflicts.

*Learn and Respect Differences 

Every culture has its own traditions and ways of doing things. It's important to learn more about the customs. Try to learn about other cultures by reading books, watching movies, or talking with people who come from those cultures.

*Be Open-minded 

Keep an open mind when you meet something that seems strange or different from your culture. What may appear unusual to you might be a normal part of daily life for others. Asking questions in a polite way not only helps you learn but also shows that you respect their culture.

*Accept and Be Flexible (灵活的) 

Sometimes, you may need to accept the customs of the place you're visiting or living in. This doesn't mean you have to give up your own culture, but being flexible can help you fit in and show respect. For example, if you're in a country where it's normal to take off your shoes before entering someone's home, follow it even if it's not common in your country.

The cherry blossom (樱花盛开) in Suzhou now has reached its most beautiful time. The No. 3 Exit of Binhe Road Station on Subway Line 1 is called the most romantic subway exit because  the beautiful cherry blossom trees.

If you get close to the No. 3 Exit of Binhe Road Station on Subway Line 1, riding the escalator (自动扶梯)  (slow) towards the ground, several big cherry blossom trees will come into your sight. In the spring wind, they appear a soft white colour, covering  whole subway exit. After a few showers, the pink and white flowers now look even  (pretty). Under the cherry trees, around the subway exit, and along the roadside, there are people everywhere who have come to enjoy the beauty of the flowers  (they). People who see such a beautiful cherry blossom also can't help taking photos before leaving. Mr. Li, a citizen in Suzhou said it was his  (four) time to come to enjoy the flowers. He also said in the past, only nearby people would come here.  in the past two years, during this season, this place has been a popular place for those  (tour). People can be often seen  (hold) their phones or cameras here.

The cherry blossom season in Suzhou usually  (last) from mid-March to early April. Besides the cherry blossom trees at the No. 3 Exit of Binhe Road Station, there are many other places in Suzhou where you can enjoy cherry blossoms. Take advantage of the beautiful spring weather and enjoy the beauty of cherry blossoms in Suzhou.

Although running indoors on a treadmill (跑步机) is comfortable, many runners prefer to train outdoors because it allows them to enjoy nature.  But running outdoors presents some challenges. Be careful of the following things.

Stay patient and work for results.

However hard you train, you won't see results overnight. You need to be patient.  Take your time to make progress and expect challenges.

Scientists at the University of Manchester, UK have made a new type of brick (砖块). It is made from Human blood, urine (尿液), sweat, tears and simulated Mars soil (模拟火星土). The protein (蛋白质) from human bodies is like the "glue (胶水)". It holds the soil together. Scientists say it's 300 percent stronger than bricks we use today.

Why do we need to do this? Well, if we want to build houses on Mars, we need lots of bricks. But it costs 13 million yuan to send just one brick to Mars. So scientists are thinking: Maybe we could use something in our bodies!

Scientists say that six astronauts could make 500 kilograms of such bricks in just two years. Later they can build bigger houses for more astronauts to go and live there. Together, they can build even more houses!

Chinese culture has great attraction for people both at home and abroad. We have seen many people from around the world express their love for Chinese culture in different forms. A growing number of foreigners have even chosen to live in China for its culture.

Interested in Chinese classical literature, Canadian artist Brandon Collins-Green or Lin Buran in Chinese expresses his understanding of A Dream of the Red Chamber by Cao Xueqin and Chinese poems through thousands of paintings. Often painting throughout the night, he has created more than 4,200 works. Living alone in the center of Nanchang, he has come a long way since he first came here in 2015 to study ancient Chinese literature.

Brandon loves learning about the lifestyle of ancient Chinese people. "So far, I have read the novel three times, translated most of its poems, songs, lantern riddles (谜语), and dialogues into English, and completed over 1 million words of articles and 2,000 related paintings during my PhD studies," said Brandon with pride and satisfaction.

Timur Kuvatov, director-general and editor-in-chief of the Kazakhstan Today News Agency, is a Chinese kung fu fan. He has won kung fu championships a lot of times and also served as a coach for the Kazakhstan kung fu team. "Chinese kung fu is a treasure of Chinese culture. It is not just a sport but also reflects the Chinese way of dealing with people, their understanding of life, nature, and the world," he said.

Vincent Cazeneuve, known as Wensen Qi in Chinese, is a French artist devoted to lacquer (漆器) creation. He came to live in Chongqing in 2009. His works have been shown in art institutions both in and outside of China, and his fans have even collected some of them.

How can we relax after busy workdays?

Walking through the city streets at weekends is now a new favourite among young people in China. It is called Citywalk. People can take a Citywalk on their own or by following a tour guide. They usually don't go to famous shopping centres. Instead, they go to small shops or restaurants, take a close look at old buildings and know about the history and culture of the city.

Many Citywalkers love to share their routes (路线) with others, including how long the walk will take and what beautiful places they will see along the way. It is helpful to others who also want to take a Citywalk.

Nan Xi, a girl from Beijing, moved to Shanghai not long ago. One day, when she went online to find something interesting to do on weekends, she got to know about Citywalk. "I think Shanghai is a wonderful city to take a Citywalk. There are big trees along the streets and shops selling different things. It's great for friends to walk together and take photos," she said. She decided to have a try. She had a two-hour Citywalk tour. During the tour, the guide talked about the history of the buildings and streets along the way. "I enjoyed the trip that day. It gave me a better understanding of how Western and local cultures mix together in Shanghai. I can't wait to take another Citywalk," she said.
