The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated to honour Qu Yuan, a famous poet who threw himself into a river sadly when he was unable to help his homeland. Zongzi is a special snack for this Chinese festival. Zhang told Hernandez stories about sea urchin zongzi-making traditions in Nan' ao and how the local zongzi gained popularity around the whole country.
