In every language, there are words that have some interesting stories behind them. Take the word" sandwich" as  example. It is very common  (see) it in English. If we want to know the story behind it, we must  (know) something about an English nobleman（贵族），John Montagu. He is the 4th Earl（伯爵）of Sandwich.

Callie works with her family in the barn（谷仓）. All is quiet when Callie hears a meow.

Eat enough vegetables each day. Eating more vegetables can help you keep thin. 

You also need some fruit each day. Keep fruit where you can see it.  You can drink a glass of apple juice. You can eat a banana or a pear. Eating fruit may also make you feel happy. 

Try to drink milk each day.  Drink one glass in the morning and the other at night. 

You also need something from the meat group. Fish, chicken and beef are in this group. You need 80——120 grams of meat a day to have strong muscles（肌肉）。

Try not to eat many candies. They may taste good, but they don't help you to grow strong or stay healthy.

David, a 12-year-old English boy, loves hamburgers very much. He has one hamburger in the morning, and three hamburgers and two ice creams in the afternoon. For dinner, what does he have? Three hamburgers and some cola!

Some scientists say, "Hamburgers, ice cream and cola are nice but eating them too much is not good. " If we have food like hamburgers too much, what can we get?

Scientists have an experiment（实验）on rats（老鼠）to find the answer. 

Here are three groups of rats. Group One eat fruit and vegetables. Group Two eat some vegetables and hamburgers. But they can eat hamburgers for only one hour every day. Group Three have hamburgers and vegetables, too. But rats in this group can eat hamburgers all day. The rats in Group Three like hamburgers very much and always want them. After the experiment, they are the fattest. 

Can it be the same with people? Some scientists say "Yes". It is OK to love food like hamburgers, but having so many hamburgers a day like David makes you fat. You don't want to be too fat, right? An ice cream is nice and cool. It's OK to have one ice cream after dinner. But it's not OK to have five ice creams after dinner. We don't want to be the fattest"rats". 

Li Lei is a middle school student. His parents are very strict. So he has so many family rules. 

For example, he can't go out with friends on school nights. He can't watch TV or play computer games on school nights either. On weekends, he must do his homework first before playing with his friends. He has to go home before 9:00 p. m. His parents think it is not safe to go home late and this rule is really useful. He must go to bed before 10:00 p. m. because he should sleep for 8——9 hours every day. It's strict, but he thinks it's necessary. As for housework, he has to wash clothes and clean his bedroom on weekends. He has to do sports for 30 minutes every day. 

But he thinks the biggest problem is that he can't join clubs. ▲ They hope he can be good at all the subjects. They don't know he likes playing chess and singing. These activities can make him happy. So he hopes the family rules can make some changes（改变）. Do you agree with him?
