I am Liz and I'm 13 years old. I'm a student in Newtown Middle School. There are some different clubs in our school. I am a member of the reading club.

I love reading. I have a lot of books and I get most of them from my parents. When they are free, they often go to different bookstores and buy books for me. My favorite place is all kinds of bookstores.

Knitting is now a cool hobby (爱好) for young Americans. In Sloughhouse, Bronwyn Anthony started a knitting club to serve (服务) the community. Anthony is a lifelong (终身的) knitter. "Knitting is very relaxing. It's good for one's mental(精神的) health," she said. "And some of the wool (毛线) today is pretty. Kids like them a lot."

The kids in the club knit caps for babies. They also knit scarves and hats for homeless (无家可归的) people. For them, knitting is good in other ways, too.

"Knitting is cool," said Taylor Bailey, a boy. "It keeps me calm (平静的) and gives me something to do."

Alice's Vlog: My Drama Club

Hello! My name is Alice. Welcome to my drama club!

This is Mr Ford, our drama teacher. Mr Ford is very nice, and he always has great ideas. He helps me so much!

And these are my friends at the drama club. We always have a good time! After practice, we often have pizza. Check out this photo! Mmm... Yummy!

My parents often come to our shows. They record (录制) the shows, and we watch them on TV later. Here's a clip from our last show. That's me with the blonde hair! I look cute, don't I?

The drama club can be hard when I have to remember a lot of lines, but it helps me to understand a lot more about the plays. I'm usually very shy, but when I'm in a play, I no longer feel afraid. Now I'm brave (勇敢的) enough to talk, and even sing, in front of lots of people.

Do you like reading books? Maybe you would enjoy writing books by  . Turn your interests into hobbies.

Think about the skills you have.

Some hobbies  certain (特定的) skills. If you don't have many skills, you might not enjoy paper-cutting by hand. If you enjoy fixing and building things, you could pick a(n)  like working on old cars or making model airplanes.

Pay attention to what gets you excited.

The things you  talk about can show what you really like. Think about the subjects you always talk about. Ask some of your  what you talk about the most. Then you can know how to turn it into a hobby.

In a word, starting a new hobby is good for you. It can help you live a better life.
