Hans Christian Andersen was a man who lived long ago, in a country called Denmark. He loved to write stories so much that he wrote some of the world's most famous stories!

Andersen was good at making the characters alive(变得生动) in our minds. Andersen wrote "The Ugly Duckling, " the heartwarming story of a little bird that grew up to be a beautiful swan. Or "The Little Mermaid(小美人鱼), " the story of a sea princess(公主) who wished to become a girl. Andersen's stories are filled with characters(角色) that teach us about kindness, bravery(勇敢), and the power of dreams. 

But Andersen didn't stop at writing; he was a great traveler. He visited many countries and shared his stories with people everywhere. His stories were like seeds that he planted across the world, and they grew into a beautiful garden of magic for everyone to enjoy. 

Today, both the young and old still read and love Andersen's stories. They tell us that everyone has a story to tell and that magic can be everywhere in these books. 

Do you know that seeds (种子) can be used to make beautiful paintings? Dongming grain painting is a good example. 

Dongming grain painting has a history of more than 200 years. In 2016, it was named Shandong's intangible cultural heritage(非物质文化遗产). In the past, people gave grain paintings as important gifts when it was time for the"Three Life Sacrifices"(三牲祭祀). 

Han Guorui, 44, started learning Dongming grain painting when he was 8. During these years, he saw the art become less popular. People are losing interest in it, maybe because it takes much time and work to make one. It usually takes 27 steps (步骤)    ▲    . For example, Han spent five years growing red corn(玉米) for making plum blossom petals(梅花花瓣). 

To keep people interested, Han thought of some new ideas. And it's working, too. In 2014, he made a grain painting of the Mona Lisa. Hopefully, it sold for much money, and he succeeded in making more people know about Chinese culture!

Book Review ofThe Little Prince

The Little Prince was written by the French writer Antoine during World WarⅡ. It's a book for kids, but adults love it too. 

The story is about a little prince who lives on a small planet (星球)called B-612. He takes care of a special rose there. But one day, he leaves his planet and starts his journey. He meets different kinds of adults. Some are too proud and some are too boring. Finally, he comes to the earth. He tells the pilot all about his exciting adventures, and they become good friends. 

What does the book teach us?

The book teaches us a lot. It tells us the the importance of true friendship. Just like the little prince and the pilot, they share their stories and feelings with each other. The book also shows us love is not just about taking care of someone, but also about being patient and understanding. 

Who is my favourite character (角色)?

The little prince falls in love with it. I am deeply touched by this line—It's the time you spent on your rose that makes your rose so important. It shows us that we build special relationships with others when we look after them and take responsibility. 

I think this is a touching book. Everyone should read it, no matter how old they are.

Dear Haoyu. 

How is everything going? I know you visited Iguazu Fall with your family. And my family took a trip to Heilongjiang last winter. 

Our first stop was the frozen Songhua River in Harbin. The temperature was -20℃, so we put on all our warm clothes, gloves and everything we could find. However, we had a lot of fun there. We tried cars pulling snow rings, skating and many other activities. My dad refused to swim. Well, who said he was not afraid of the cold water before we left for China?

That night, my dad dressed up as a snowman and we took a walk in the streets of the city. We saw a band playing cheerful music. My dad danced to it, attracting (吸引l) smiles from people around us. Someone said, "Look! A cute snowman is dancing!" Many people wanted to take a picture with him. 

On the second day, we visited Harbin Ice and Snow World. The huge ice sculptures (雕塑) there were amazing. Then I saw some ice bikes. My sister and I were so interested that we jumped onto the bike and had some exciting races with other children. When the sun went down, the light on the ice soulptures lit them up in bright colours. It was like a dream!

In the following days, we went to other places. Snow Town was one of my favourite places. And of course we tried many kinds of local food there. My mouth still waters for guobaorou and tieguodun!

In short, one week was not enough for us at all to fully experience this new culture. I wish we could go back to Heilongjiang again!

When you go out for a walk or a jog, do you see rubbish (垃圾) on the road? Maybe a plastic bottle, some paper, or an empty can. All this rubbish is bad for the environment (环境). But how often do you stop to pick it up?

Well, a new sport called plogging is encouraging people to do that. The word "plogging" comes from "jogging" and "plocka upp". "Plocka upp" means "to pick up" in Swedish (瑞典语). The idea is simple: pick up rubbish while you are jogging!

In 2016, Erik Ahlstrom, a runner, was sad to see so much rubbish when he went for a run every day. So he created the word "plogging". Now, plogging is popular in many countries of the world. In 2021, the first World Plogging Competition was held in Italy. In 2024, over 80 ploggers from 13 countries joined in and collected more than 1,2o0 kilograms of rubbish. In the last five years, the number of ploggers all over the world has grown from less than 5,000 to over 20,000. 

There are many good things about plogging. It makes you healthier when you exercise. It also makes the streets and parks cleaner. What's more, it's a social activity. People can meet new friends in plogging groups. For us teenagers, plogging teaches us to care for our environment. So, let's all give it a try!
