Now many young people in China like community canteens. The canteens were open to old people at first. Some of them are too old and they can't cook. But now many young people can't cook, so they become the old people's meal friends in the canteens.

Fang Wenjing is a young woman from Hangzhou. She likes to order a healthy lunch for only 20 yuan in a community canteen. It includes a meat dish, a vegetable dish and a bowl of rice. "The dishes have a home-cooked taste. The canteen is also clean," says Fang.

Community canteens meet the needs of young people in many ways. Some canteens in Hangzhou have meals including a main dish, a side dish (配菜), a bowl of rice, soup and fruit salad.

Zibo city in Shandong Province is famous for its delicious barbecue food called "Zibo Shaokao". People in Zibo love to grill (烧烤) meat and make it taste amazing. Some people tasted barbecue and put their experiences (经历) online, so it attracted (吸引) about 4,800,000 tourists to visit this small city in March, 2023. The small city was soon popular.

In Zibo, barbecue chefs (厨师) are like artists. They use special spices (香料) and sauces (酱料) to make the meat really tasty. The meat can be pork, beef or chicken, and it becomes really tender (嫩的) and juicy when cooked on the grill. The chefs know how long to cook it so that it's just right.

Yummy sauces make Zibo barbecue special. These sauces have different flavors (风味). People dip (蘸) their grilled meat into these sauces, and it makes the food even more delicious!

Eating Zibo barbecue is not just about the food itself. It's also about the fun atmosphere. The smell of the grilled meat fills the air and makes everyone hungry. The barbecue restaurants in Zibo are always busy and many happy people enjoy their meals.

Save the Animals

My friend, Malee lives in Thailand! The elephant is her favourite animal. She loves elephants  they are strong and clever. They are also a symbol of good luck here. The elephant is their national animal.  13 March, they celebrate Thai Elephant Day.
