Robinson Crusoe found himself alone on an island after his ship was destroyed by a terrible storm. Though he had never learned survival (生存) skills before, he realized that if he wanted to live, he must overcome his fears. He built a house out of wood where he could sleep safely at night.

During his first year, the greatest challenge came when he fell seriously ill. With no medicine, he remembered that his mother used to say "Clean water is the best doctor." He boiled rainwater and rested until he got better. This experience taught him that human creativity could overcome any difficulty.

Twenty-three years later, while checking traps (陷阱) near the western beach, Robinson noticed something special—foot marks! He soon saved a native (土著的) young man who was being hunted by cannibals. 5. The man named Friday became his first friend on the island.

Although they spoke different languages, they found ways to communicate with each other. Robinson showed Friday how to plant grain (谷物), while Friday taught him which plants were safe to eat. They promised one another that if a rescue (救援) ship came, they would leave the island together. By the time Robinson and Friday were finally saved by a British ship in 1686, they had changed the wild island into a lively farm.

More and more foreign tourists have travelled to China since it  (start) the 144-hour visa-free policy (免签政策). China Travel is getting more and more popular around the world.

Lily, a young tourist from the United States, recently experienced this policy this year. After arriving in Shanghai, she had six  (day) to explore the city and nearby areas.

How to Work Well in a Team

Working in a team is good, but sometimes there are problems. If team members are not good at communicating, it can be difficult. .

Listen to others carefully. When people feel heard, they would like to share more. Ask questions if you don't understand. This shows you care about their ideas.

Be kind: Don't laugh at teammates when they make mistakes. . Laughing at others may keep them away from you.

Respect differences: Team members may have different ways of thinking. Be patient when others express their opinions. .

: Make a list of tasks and assign (分配) them clearly and fairly so that every member can know their role well and all tasks can be completed on time.

Huang Xuhua, a great Chinese scientist, died on February 6, 2025. Born in Guangdong in 1926, he saw China's difficult times during wars when he was young. This inspired him to study hard and protect his country. In the 1950s, China started building nuclear submarines (核潜艇). This project was like climbing a high mountain because they had almost no technology and very few materials. Even though conditions were hard, Huang bravely joined the team. To keep the project secret, he and his team cut contact (联系) with everyone, even their families, and he left his hometown for over ten years.

The team faced huge difficulties. Creating a nuclear reactor (核反应堆) was quite difficult without foreign help. They spent years solving hard math problems and doing experiments. After countless tests, they finally succeeded. By 1970, China's first nuclear submarine was completed, making it one of only five countries with this technology. Huang didn't stop there. He kept working and won many prizes, including the "Medal of the Republic" (共和国勋章) in 2019.

Today, Huang is remembered as a national hero. His story teaches young people to face challenges bravely and work for China's future. Let's honor his work by continuing his spirit and building a stronger nation together.

Great news! Primary and middle schools in Hunan have extended (延长) their break time between classes from 10 minutes to 15 minutes since February this year.

This new rule helps students in many ways. First the longer break gives students enough time to relax. They can walk around the classroom, drink water, and still have time to play. Second, it helps students prepare better for the next class. With enough rest, they can focus more on lessons. Third, the extra time allows for more exercise. Many students now enjoy playing basketball or skipping rope (跳绳) during breaks. This makes them feel less stressed.

Take Zhao Xuan, a seventh-grade student in Changsha, as an example. "I really love the new break time!" he said with a smile when he was interviewed by the newspaper. "I used to have to rush to the restroom and back to class with little time for anything else. Now I have more time to rest and share something interesting with my classmates."

Teachers also like this change. They find students more energetic (精力充沛) in class after the longer breaks. The school doctor says fewer students complain of headaches now.

It's hoped that with more break time, students can enjoy their school life better and grow up healthily.

Chopsticks are simple and helpful. Chopsticks have  a big part of Chinese food culture since a long time ago. Let's read and learn more about them. 

The  pair of chopsticks was invented over 5000 years ago. It is said that an ancient Chinese leader called Dayu invented them. At that time, there was a flood in China. Dayu was very worried, so he ate his meals as  as possible to save more time. But the meat was too hot to eat with  hands. Then he used two sticks to help himself hold the food. 

Most of Chinese people today use wooden and bamboo chopsticks. In fact, the metal chopsticks are  than wooden ones because wood may take in some of the oil from the food. It will be bad for your health unless you clean it up. 

More and more  try to use chopsticks now. , they may have trouble picking up food with only two sticks. Then people invented a creative eating tool: "chork". It has a fork on one end and chopsticks on the other. When it breaks into two, it works  chopsticks. In this way, they can deal with the problem smartly. 

Chopsticks are a  of Chinese culture and represent the wisdom of ancient China. This simple tool  deep cultural meanings. Today, it spreads Chinese culture worldwide, connecting people through every meal. 

Bert is a university student. He won a national "Young Heroes" prize for his green project. Bert put his efforts into the environmental educational project and made it a success. 

Bert showed a great interest in insects at the age of four. He always loved to watch different insects, especially beautiful swallowtails (凤蝶). Bert learned a fun fact about swallowtails. Their bright colors warn hungry animals that they taste bad. Swallowtails are very easy to find. They like bright flowers like zinnias (百日葵). 

Bert started a zinnia garden at his house. Over the years, he raised many swallowtails there. The number of swallowtails is falling worldwide. Bert wanted people to know something important: if insects like swallowtails disappear, the animals above them on the food chain will disappear too. To help other students understand this, he also built a zinnia garden at his junior high school. 

Bert loved watching the younger students running after swallowtails happily. "Whenever swallowtails land on them, the young students will soon fall in love with these cute insects. They start to appreciate (欣赏) them in a new way. It is important for students to interact (互动) with swallowtails, it helps them care about protecting insects and the environment, " he said. 

Bert loves insects more than before, and he will keep protecting them in the future. 

One day, Tom's class held a meeting to talk about how to help disabled children. After a discussion, they decided to raise money for the children by selling postcards. 

Tom wanted to take part in this activity, but he was too shy to talk to strangers, so he kept quiet in his seat. His teacher noticed this and asked whether he would like to have a try. Tom was hesitant, but he finally nodded. 

On the selling day, Tom and his partner Angela came to the busy street. Angela was an outgoing girl. "Excuse me, could you please buy. . . ?" Angela asked the person she first met politely. The man smiled and put a five-dollar coin into Angela's collection bag. Then she said thanks and handed him a postcard. "Don't be afraid, Tom. Do it as I did and you will make it, " said Angela. 

Tom felt so nervous that he began to shake. Soon, he saw a young lady walking towards him. The lady was smiling with a few coins in her hand. She asked, "Are you selling postcards to help the disabled children?" Tom said yes in a low voice with a red face. Then the lady put some coins into Tom's collection bag. She praised Tom and took away a postcard. "You made it, Tom!" laughed Angela. 

In the next three hours, Angela and Tom sold out all their postcards. At last, their collection bags were so heavy that they had to hold them with both arms. They felt very proud.
