The Spring Festival Yingge Dance ShowParade, held in Shantou, attracted a large crowd. More than 1, 000 dancers from 15Yingge Dance teams participated, making it a big cultural event for the city. 

Yingge Dance, or "Dance to the Hero' sSong", is a type of folk dance with a history of more than 300 years. It is popular in the Chaoshan region in the east of Guangdong Province and a few parts of Hong Kong, China. Combining dancing, Chinese martial arts, and Chinese opera, Yingge Dance has been listed as a national-level intangible cultural heritage in China. 

It's said that this traditional dance developed from the Nuo Opera(傩戏) performed to drive away evil spirits, welcome the spring, and pray for good luck. While the ancient NuoOpera tells stories from different folk tales, Yingge Dance is based on the adventures of the"108 Heroes" of Liangshan Mountain, best known from the classic novel The Water Margin. 

During festivals and celebrations, Yingge dancers, each holding short sticks, dressed in colorful costumes, jump up and down, and use props like masks, snakes, and drums to enhance their performances. 

In London's Burlington Arcade, during the Chinese New Year, a team from Puning, Jieyang, put on an impressive show. Anna, a Londoner who attended with her son, was thrilled and interested in joining in future Chinese New Year celebrations. Her son's growing interest in Chinese traditions has led him to study the Chinese language. 

Chen, the coach of the Yingge Dance team, wants to show Yingge Dance globally. After a month of busy training, the team, consisting of experienced members with over 15 years of performance, was well-prepared for their international performance. 

A primary school in Jiangxi Province made a decision. It would no longer prepare meals in its own canteen. Instead, it would serve its students pre-made food. The move quickly became a hot topic across the country. Many parents said that they were worried about food safety. Some of them even sent homemade meals to school at lunchtime every day. 

 The Ministry of Education warns against introducing pre-made meals to schools. That's mainly because there are not yet any national standards for such food. The market for pre-made meals has been developing quickly over the past few years. In 2022, there were more than 60, 000 related companies in China. And the number is still growing. By 2026, the market will have reached more than one trillion yuan. 

What has made pre-made meals so popular? They have many advantages. They' re quick and convenient to prepare. They also have a long shelf life.  However, parents' worries are not without reason. Pre-made food may be acceptable every now and then, but few people eat it every day. Naturally, parents don't want their children to do so, either. 

In fact, pre-made meals are all prepared by central kitchens. They' re not necessarily unhealthy compared with freshly cooked food.  The problem is how to make sure these companies follow all the hygiene rules when they cook and store food. For now, the pre-made food industry still has a long way to go. 

There are many children  happily in the park. 

In Valletta, the capital city of Malta, a group of ladies wearing colorful Chinese costumes, known as hanfu, walked nicely along its old street on Saturday afternoon, attracting both the Maltese people and tourists from around the world. 

The fascinating hanfu show organized by the China Cultural Center in Malta was performed by23 ladies from China, Malta and Italy. 

 They held Chinese-style fans and lanterns in their hands and walked along RepublicStreet, a main street in Valletta, as part of a series of events to celebrate the Spring Festival. 

"I love the colors of their hanfu, " Noemi Calisto, an Italian student at the University ofMalta, said. Some of her classmates performed in the hanfu show, so she took many photos of them. Momo Muller and his wife Rita, a couple from Luxembourg, were enthralled by the beauty of hanfu. Muller told the reporter that he visited Beijing about 15 years ago and is looking forward to visiting China again. 

 Alexander Ouaknine, a 53-year-old owner of a traditional Maltese silver jewelry shop, told the reporter that the handmade jewelry with silver wire and beautiful traditional Chinese costumes are both" wonderful forms of art". 

Martina Vella, a 21-year-old student at the University of Malta, said it was the first time that she and her friends wore hanfu . Vella told the reporter that she would consider showing traditional Chinese culture in her future works. 

A friendly soccer match between the Liberia Community Football Team and the Liaoning Donggang Strawberry FootballTeam got much attention in Rongjiang County, Guizhou Province, earlier this month. It was the first time for an African team to be in the league. called "cunchao" in Chinese. 

The" cunchao" has become popular in African countries like Benin and South Africa. The connection has started a friendship.  International matches have been held at the Village Super League stadium this year. 

The Liberia Community Football Team's 21 members came with the supervision of officials from the Liberian embassy.  Moses Barclay, who has worked at the embassy for eight years, saw the happy scenes in videos. "The people here like football and the atmosphere is good, " said Barclay. This was his first time in Rongjiang and he hoped the match would make fans and tourists happy. 

The day before the match, the Liberians visited Dali Dong Village in Ronjiang to learn its ethnic culture and sang with the villagers. "It was my first time to know Dong culture. It's special. The villagers are friendly and I was moved, " said Godrich Samwely. Jose Jacobs, who has played soccer for over 20 years, said, "This is a trip about football and friendship. "

This wasn't the first time a Liberian team had contact with the league. The league was copied and promoted in Parakou and Cape Town. At the end of last month, 12 village teams started the" African Village Super League" in Benin. It has brought happiness. 

The friendly match is the start of the friendship. Barclay hopes for better friendship and more exchange. People in Parakou also want to join the "cunchao" in China. 

I once gave a lesson to a group of primary school students for a TV program. I suggested that we create small gardens. 

First, I asked the students to look for their favorite place in the school. Once we got there, I let them try hard to empty their minds. Then I had each of them describe their experiences of nature in a small garden. 

In a box of about one and a half by two feet, they could organize soil, stones, leaves and grass freely. Even as an active garden designer, I was impressed with their imagination. The gardens they made were really creative. 

One child created" water" that flowed into a" lake"; another child put grass in a way to represent" wind"; and yet another child tried hard to create shade. . . These children were often busy doing their schoolwork. That was why they took great interest when they created their small gardens. They spent a wonderful time together with nature. 

Try spending time with nature yourself. If you notice a stone lying on the ground, pick it up and hold it. When you see beautiful flowers by the side of the road, stop and enjoy the pleasant smell. 

Then, inside your mind, create your own small garden. It will relax you.
