Mike, the host of "Discover Nature" program, is hawing an interview with Mr. Wilson, a famous food scientist on honey.
Mike: Good morning, dear friends. Today, we are happy to have the famous food scientist Mr. Wilson with us. Welcome!
Mr. Wilson: Hello, everyone. It's a pleasure to be part of this program,
Mike: It's reported that scientists found pots of honey in Tutankhamen's tomb(图坦卡蒙墓)in ancient Egypt and the honey was still sweet and eatable. That's really amazing!Mr. Wilson, could you explain it to us?
Mr. Wilson: Sure. There are three main reasons. Firstly, most bacteria(细菌)can't grow in honey because it's acidic(酸性的).The acid in honey kills any bacteria trying to grow in it.
Mike: That makes sense. What's next?
Mr. Wilson: Secondly, honey is high in sugar. It is made of 8o% sugar.
Mike: Got it! And what about the third one?
Mr. Wilson: Bacteria need water to survive and grow, so it's impossible for bacteria to survive in honey.
Mike: Amazing! Now, I'm curious why Tutankhamen liked honey.
Mr. Wilson: Ancient people loved honey. Ancient Egyptians used honey to treat wounds, burns or skin diseases. Since bacteria didn't easily grow in it, the honey could be used in a way similar to a bandage(绷带). It protected the skin while it healed.
Mike: Great insights! Thanks for sharing with us. That's the end of Discover Nature.
A. Honey is low in water.
B. Why didn't the honey go bad?
C. It was not easy for bees to make honey.
D. Sugar can last for a very long time without going bad.
E. It was not only delicious but also useful as medicine.

①Comfort others with the words you wish to hear. I find myself speaking words of comfort and offering support easily. These words are of some help to others and to myself as well.
②When I talk to someone in trouble, I say things I wish someone had said to me. I tell them to stay strong, keep going, and that things will get better. These are the words I need to hear when I face my own challenges. Encouraging others makes me feel able to solve my own problems.
③When I give advice, I feel clearly that the worries in my mind seem to go away when I focus on someone else's needs. I realize that helping others is a powerful way to help deal with my own problems.
④When I listen to others, it helps me see my life from a different viewpoint. I understand that the strength and hope I give to others are also within me. By helping them, I help myself grow and heal(治愈).
⑤I often wonder why it's easy to give advice but hard to apply it to my own life. Maybe it's because we are our own worst critics(评论家). We doubt ourselves but believe in others. ①Why is your dog so interested in your dirty socks, even to the point of stealing and chewing (咀嚼) on them? PetHonesty, a company for dog health, may give you a better understanding of why your four-legged friend can't help but give in to those dirty socks.
②One of the main reasons is the familiar smell of their owners, which is comforting. In fact, PetHonesty says that to your dog, your dirty, smelly sock is like "a bottle filled with his favorite smell-you!" Dogs may chew on things that smell like their owners as a "comforting" way, especially if they are experiencing boredom or worries about separation.
③In addition, chewing on socks is a natural behavior for dogs. The texture (质地) of socks can be comforting to chew on, especially for baby dogs who are teething. As PetHonesty explains, "To a dog, socks are soft. They are chewy and the texture of the socks feels comforting in their mouths." This chewing excites their brains and helps keep their teeth healthy.
④Finally, dogs may see socks as valuable "resources(资源)" worth protecting or guarding. PetHonesty said that dogs see certain things as important "resources" that they believe are worth guarding with all their power. This could be especially true if the sock smells like their owner.
⑤However, chewing socks can be harmful to dogs as they might eat them and become sick. To prevent it from happening, it's important to make sure they get enough exercise and care. Dog owners should pay attention to dogs' needs to help deal with this worrisome situation.

①Take a look at the two shapes in the picture. Which one do you think is "kiki" and which one is "bouba"? This is part of a famous bouba-kiki experiment done in both America and India.
②In the experiment, people were shown two drawings. One had a rounded shape, and the other had a star-like shape. People had to name each of them with "bouba" or "kiki". Both of these words were not real words in any language and had no meaning. However, 95% of people decided the rounded one was "bouba", and the star-like one was "kiki".
③The experiment shows our brains seem to connect sounds with shapes. The researchers believe the results have something to do with the mouth shapes we make when we say these words. Pronouncing "bouba" requires the mouth to make a rounded shape. Other examples of "rounded sounds are oo in "room" and o in "wrote". An unrounded mouth shape is needed to make the sound of "kiki". "Unrounded" sounds require the lips (嘴唇) to be spread apart, like ee in "peek" or a in ""had".
④Another explanation is that letters such as k or t are thought to have unrounded sounds because of their sharp(尖锐的)shapes. Letters like b or g have rounded shapes, so they are considered to have rounded and soft sounds.
⑤Understanding the bouba-kiki effect can lead to its possible use in fields like branding (品牌) and communication. For example, if a toy brand wants to show its softness and friendliness, it may follow the "bouba" effect and choose rounded shapes for the logo and rounded sounds for product names. Similarly, a technology company may turn to the "kiki" effect to show it's sharp and powerful. So next time you want to design a logo for a school event or name a product, consider whether it feels more like "bouba"or "kiki"!
(1)、How does the writer begin the text?A、By listing numbers. B、By telling a joke. C、By giving examples. D、By asking a question.(2)、According to the text, what can you learn about the bouba-kiki experiment?A、It was done in both America and England. B、It shows connections between shapes and sounds. C、"Bouba" and "kiki" come from Indian languages. D、Most people connect "bouba" with star-like things.(3)、Which brand best shows the "kiki" effect?A、Loops. B、Wubbo. C、Teeki. 20、Wang Qingchun, a 64-year-old retiree (退休人员) from Changsha, had long suffered the hot summers in her home town. Tired of the heat, she decided to move to the cool cities in the south or the villages in the north.
Finally, in early July, Wang chose an old people's flat in Qujing, a city in the southwest of China. The flat provided free meals. She didn't have to cook on her own. This saved her a lot of trouble. Besides, the film room and the music room there made her life much more interesting. Most importantly, the weather in Qujing was so comfortable. Wang even joked that she didn't need an air-conditioner(空调) any more.
Retirees like Wang are called "elderly migratory birds". Just like migratory birds, they move to different places in different seasons to enjoy a better environment. Now, more and more elderly people are choosing this new way of life.
A recent study shows what makes retirees choose to be "elderly migratory birds", The beautiful sights of a place are the top reason. Then come pleasant climate and convenient transport. Good medical care seems much less important. This is because many new retirees are still in good condition. They are active and lively to travel around. Compared with the retirees in the old days, now elderly people can enjoy richer retirement life with enough money and good health. It's a wonderful change, letting them go to new places and have fun experiences after years of hard work.
However, even with enjoyable seasonal retirement life, these "elderly migratory birds" still need young people's care. As Wang said, ""I have everything here, but I miss my granddaughter. She's too busy. It would be so much better if she could call me more often."
