Have you ever drunk "the first cup of milk tea in autumn"? Milk tea is enjoyed by most young people. There are so many milk tea shops around every street.  Such as bubble milk tea (珍珠奶茶), house milk tea (招牌奶茶) and iced milk tea. But it is also a good idea to make a cup of milk tea by hand at home. Today DIY (Do it Yourself) is very popular with young people. On the one hand, it can give people real experience in doing something and they can express their own ideas by DIY. 

It's time to make iced milk tea. 

→First, prepare things you need. They are milk, black tea, sugar or honey, and some ice. 

→Then, boil the black tea until the water turns light brown.  Add 1/4 or 1/2 cup of ice, it will melt and bring the tea down to a room temperature.

The days pass. Dorothy works very hard in the kitchen. She remembers Uncle Henry and Aunt Em in Kansas. She remembers her friends, the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman. She's very sad and she often cries. At night she goes to see the Lion. The Witch doesn't give him anything to eat or drink, so Dorothy takes him food and water from the kitchen. Then she lies down next to him, puts her head on his warm body and sleeps until the morning. 

The Witch watches Dorothy all the time. She's waiting for the right moment to take the silver shoes. Dorothy wears them all the time. She loves them. The only time she takes them off is when she has a bath. The Witch doesn't like water, so she's afraid to go near the girl when she's in the bath. 

One day Dorothy is cleaning the kitchen and she slips (滑倒) on the wet floor. She falls over and one of the silver shoes comes off. The Witch picks it up quickly and puts it on. 

"Give me back my shoe!" Dorothy says. "No! It's my shoe now, " the Witch replies. "You are a bad woman!" Dorothy shouts. "I want my shoe!"

There's a bucket of water near the door. The girl picks it up and throws the water over the Witch. "Aargh!" The Witch cries. "Water is the end of me!" And she starts to disappear (消失) in front of Dorothy's eyes. 

In another minute there's just a lot of water on the kitchen floor. Dorothy quickly takes her shoe, puts it on again and runs outside. 

"The Witch is dead!" she shouts. The Winkies look at her in surprise. They are also the Witch's slaves (奴隶). "We're all free now!" she says to them. They start cheering and shouting, "The bad Witch is dead! We're free! Thank you, Dorothy!"

Dorothy goes to the Lion and takes the rope off his neck. He's very happy to be free again.

Do-it-yourself projects let you design your house, providing a way to save money, but even with step-by-step instructions, DIY doesn't always go as planned. Nearly 80% of homeowners make a mistake while doing DIY. Here are four of the biggest mistakes that homeowners often make. 

Taking on Too Much

More than 40% of people find DIY projects more difficult and expensive than they thought. By taking on a task that needs more time or skills than you have, you may end up with a big mess and an unfinished project. "It's important to think about why you want to DIY and what you're hoping to get out of it, " said Bailey Carson, a home care expert. "If you're doing it just to save money, you might need to think twice. Without the time, tools, and talent to do it correctly and safely, mistakes may cost you more in the long run than simply paying others to help from the beginning. "

A third of people used the wrong tools for a DIY project, which can make the job more difficult and less safe. Many tools are designed for special uses and materials, so if you use them for other tasks, you may get hurt. Always use the proper tools for each project, and make sure you know how to use them. 

Not Safety First

DIY mistakes can not only be costly but also dangerous. Of the survey people who once made a big mistake during their DIY projects, 47% said that the mistake led to serious problems, while 44% started a fire or fell off a roof or ladder. Take your time and follow all safety rules when using tools. Wear dust masks, safety glasses, hearing protection or gloves to protect yourself. 

Skipping Important Steps

Skipping (跳过) a key step can end up your whole DIY project—and you might not realize it until much later. In the survey, 47% of people said that they had finished a DIY project before realizing it was done wrong. Read all instructions carefully ahead of time, and make sure you have the necessary skills to complete each step before you begin. 

Ladybugs are wonderful and amazing bugs in the summer months. Making lovely ladybug stone paintings (瓢虫石头画) can also be really fun. You can put them in your garden outside. Hopefully, no one walks off with them!

How to make it

• Wash and dry your stone. 

• Paint the stone with the colours you like. Do not paint the bottom as it will be put on the soil (土地). 

• Coat (给……涂上) the top end of the stone with black paint to make it look like the head of a ladybug and let it dry. 

• Use the end of a paintbrush (画笔) to add black spots to the ladybug's body. 

• Clean the end of the paintbrush and use it to paint the white eyes. Or use wiggle eyes (能动的眼睛) instead to make the ladybug look fun. 

• Cut the tip of a toothpick (牙签). Use black paint to dot the white eyes. 

• Let it all dry.

Smartphone, poor sight

Look around and you'll see people busy on their smart phones. Smart phones do make our lives easier. But have you ever thought about what they mean to your eyes?

According to a study, half of British people own smart phones and they spend an average of two hours a day using them. There has been a 35% increase in the number of people in the UK who suffer from shortsightedness since smart phones were introduced there in 1997. 

Staring at smart phones for a long time gives you dry eyes. When looking at something in the distance, your eyes automatically blink a certain number of times. However, when you look at things closer to your face, the blinking slows down. This reduces the amount of tears and causes discomfort in your eyes. Another bad habit is using smart phones in dark rooms before going to sleep. If you look at a bright screen while your pupils become larger, too much light enters your eyes. This can do harm to the eyes and cause a disease called glaucoma. 

While you're probably not going to stop using to your smart phone, there are a few things you can do to protect your eyes. Hold your phone at least 30 continues away from your eyes when using it. Take a break every hour and try the following: look at something at least five meters from you and then focus on the tip of your nose. Repeat this several times. It should reduce the discomfort in your eyes.
