There lived a fish in the deep sea. Unlike other common fish, he was the most beautiful in the sea. His scales(鱼鳞) were 1 — blue, green, purple, orange…just like the rainbow (彩虹). So other fish 2 him Rainbow Fish. "Rainbow Fish, come and play with us!" they said. But he didn't even 3 them and swam away.

As a middle school student,we go to school on weekdays. For most of them, they do some relaxing and interesting things. But my grandma goes to school. She is a student of Chengdu Senior Citizens University (老年大学). 

They can also learn to play card games and make short videos on their phones. 

In the morning, she has a music lesson. Her teacher is good at playing the piano and singing. And he likes telling funny stories.  In the afternoon, my grandma learns to play the drums. It is difficult for her but she likes to play it very much. 

After taking these lessons in the university, my grandma gets happy and healthy. I'm happy for her. 

When I lived in Spain, some Spanish friends of mine decided to visit England by car. Before they left, they asked me for advice about how to find accommodation (住所). I suggested that they should stay "at bed and breakfast" houses, because this kind of accommodation gave a foreign visitor a good chance to speak English with the family. My friends listened to my advice, but they came back with some funny stories. 

"We didn't stay at bed and breakfast houses. "they said. "Because we found that most families were away on holiday."

I thought this was strange. Finally I understood what had happened. My friends spoke little English, and they thought "VACANCIES" meant "holidays", because the Spanish word for "holidays" is "vacations". So they did not go to houses where the sign outside said "VACANCIES", which in English means there are free rooms. Then my friends went to house where the sign said "NO VACANCLES", because they thought this meant the people who owned the house were not away on holiday. But they found that these houses were all full. As a result, they stayed at hotels!

We laughed about this and about mistakes my friends made in reading other signs. In Spanish, the word "DIVERSION" means fun. In English, it means that workmen are repairing the road, and that you must take a different road. When my friends saw the word "DIVERSION" on a road sign, they thought they were going to have fun. Instead, the road ended in a large hole. 

English people have problems too when they learn foreign languages. Once in Paris when someone offered me some more coffee, I said "Thank you" in French. I meant that I would like some more. However, to my surprise the coffee pot was taken away! Later I found out that "Thank you" in French means "No, thank you."

Gift giving is an important practice that can show a number of different meanings. Here are some gift giving traditions from a few different countries. 

◆ In Zimbabwe

In Zimbabwe, it is common to ask for a gift straightly. When a gift has been bought even without asking for it, the worst thing you can do is to refuse(拒绝) the offering, even if the giving family is poor.

◆ In Japan

The Japanese show a great importance of the act of gift giving. For example, people don't like uncovered (裸露的) money. So whether you're sending money as a gift or just leaving a tip (小费), put your money in an envelope (信封). 

◆ In India

As people think left hands are unclean in Indian culture, acts such as touching, passing money, or giving gifts must be done with your right hand.

◆ In Russia

Vodka (伏特加酒) might seem a perfect gift for a Russian, but in fact, a lot of them would see it as an unimaginative (缺乏想象力的) gift. Many even think the idea is terrible. 

◆ In Ireland

Don't be astonished if your gift is refused a couple of times in Ireland. This tradition comes from a time when they didn't have enough potatoes to eat in the 1840s, and because of this, the receivers are making sure that you can really part from the thing that you are offering. 

Hi, I'm Fu Zai, a 6­month­old corgi(柯基). I'm China's first corgi police dog! Some people think I can't be a great police dog because of my short legs. But I'm here to show they are wrong! 

I was a pet dog before. When I was 2 months old, one day while I was playing with my owner in the park, a policeman saw me and thought I was a gifted (有天赋的) police dog. Then, I started my training. Now, I take classes in the morning and afternoon. I learn cool things like how to listen well and find bombs (炸弹), or how to find out dangerous things with my nose and so on. One thing I feel happy about is that my short legs make me stand out! I can go secretly under cars or get into small­sized places easily. Bigger dogs can't do this but I can! 

My only problem is that I can't run very fast. When we are outside doing our job, sometimes my trainer gives me a special ride. He needs to put me on his back and I can see things in a different way. It's one of my favourite parts of the job. 

Exercise is important and necessary in our life. Last month, we asked 2,000 people between 20 and 24 years old about their exercise habits. The diagrams below show the results.

It's clear to see the fewest people think exercise is not important and people choose different kinds of activities to keep healthy. Exercise is good for both the mind and the body. And remember, "Old habits die hard." So start exercising before it's too late!

How to be happy?

Being happy is very important for all of us. 

Hope all of us can be happy every day.

An earthquake(地震) happened in Myanmar in March 28, 2025.  (luck), many people were hurt or killed in it.

 (earthquake) can happen at any time. The  (tall) the buildings are, the more dangerous they will be. You had better take the following ways to keep away from danger during an earthquake. When an earthquake happens, do not try to run out of the building if you are on the  (two) floor—even if you only need a short time to go. Hide(藏) under a table or  (anything) similar quickly. Cover your eyes and head  your hands. But if a fire alarm(火警)  (ring), you will have to leave the building as fast as possible. Take the nearest stairs(楼梯)  (leave) the building. Don't take the lift(电梯). Remember not to come back to the building  it is safe.
