During the summer holidays, many parents send their children to summer camps. In recent years, more and more foreign students have come to China for summer camps to learn about its culture and history.

In Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, a group of American high school students and teachers joined an 8-day summer camp with Chinese students. During their time in Yongzhou,They went to Jiuyi Mountain, a famous site connected to the ancient Emperor Shun (舜帝). There, they enjoyed the beautiful mountains and learned about Shun Culture (舜文化). They also visited the Shun Emperor Temple (舜帝庙) at the foot of the mountain.

The camp offered many cultural activities for the foreign students. They tried calligraphy (书法) based on Shun's virtues (美德), played ping-pong and listened to stories about Emperor Shun. Although they found the activities challenging, they enjoyed learning about the rich traditions of Chinese culture.

During the camp, the students stayed with local host families; it gave them a chance to experience daily life in China and build strong friendships with the Chinese students."I have made many friends here. We shared interests and even talked about the stories of Emperor Shun we learned," said Daniel, one of the American students.

The summer camp left unforgettable memories for the American students. Their time in China helped to build friendships and a deeper understanding of a culture that was new to them, "I think this is one of the best school summer camps." said Daniel.

Zhen-Ning Yang was one of  greatest physicists in the 20th century. His story is more than a success in science—it is also about love for his country.

Yang was born in China in 1922. He showed (interest) in science. He studied hard at school and later went to the National Southwestern Associated University.  graduation, he decided to go to the US for further study. There, he worked with another Chinese scientist, Tsung-Dao Lee. They often discussed scientific problems for hours.

In 1957, Yang and Lee   (win) the Nobel Prize in Physics. This (make) them the first Chinese scientists to get this famous award(奖项）. Their work was  (true) amazing and changed how people understand the universe（宇宙）.

Trees are one of the oldest plants of our Earth. They keep our air clean, make less pollution, make water cleaner and provide food and building materials.

When I was a young child, my parents often told me that a positive heart brought a man everything. I didn't understand and wondered why it had such a big influence on a person. There are so many things around us that go against our will. We can't force life to follow our wishes. The earth won't stop turning around whether we accept it or not. What we can do is just to make ourselves adapt to (适应) the world. I think we should learn to warmly welcome whatever life gives us.

To help people understand how to behave towards others, Confucianism teaches the Five Constants (五常) .These are ren, yi, li, zhì and xin. They are general virtues (美德) aroundworld. The most important two are ren and li.

The Changing Face of Dongmen Street in Ningyuan

Dongmen Street, outside the old east gate of Ningyuan, Yongzhou, has a long history of hundreds of years. Since the county got its name in 965 AD, it has been a busy1 place for selling salt and cloth along the Lingjiang River2 . But as time passed, problems came: old buildings like Jiuyi Temple broke down, some old houses became unsafe, and floods often hit the area3 . 

In recent years, the local government started a renewal project. Workers cleaned the river bank, fixed broken walls, and even kept the old stone plates on the street to4 its original look. Today, the street has changed a lot for the better. Workers followed the rule of "repairing like the old"—they kept about 70% of the original building style. Jiuyi Temple stands again, and workers5 the old 1950s bus station into a cultural show hall.

Yang Zhenning, one of the most influential physicists of the 20th century, passed away on October 18,2025, in Beijing at the age of 103. Born in Hefei, Anhui Province in1922, he grew up in a scholarly family and developed a strong interest in science during his early years. He studied at Southwest Associated University, a famous institution that nurtured many talents in difficult times, and later pursued further education at the University of Chicago in the United States.

In 1957, Yang and his colleague Li Zhengdao made history by winning the Nobel Prize in Physics. They received this honor for their groundbreaking work on the "parity non-conservation" theory in weak nuclear interactions-a discovery that changed how scientists understand the basic laws of the universe.Beyond this, Yang's "Yang-Mills Gauge Theory" is widely regarded as a cornerstone of modern physics, standing alongside Einstein's theory of relativity in its importance.

Though he lived abroad for decades, Yang never forgot his homeland. In 1971, he became the first Chinese scholar to visit New China after a long period of separation, helping to rebuild academic links between China and the US. He also advised the Chinese government on strengthening basic science research and funded nearly100 Chinese students to study in the US. In 1999, he returned to work at Tsinghua University,devoting his later years to training young scientists and promoting the development of physics in China.

Yang ' s life was a mix of scientific curiosity and deep love for his country. His famous motto,"Be honest rather than clever," continues to encourage young people to pursue truth in science and life.

Yongzhou and Changsha Tie 1-1 in HNFL Match

On the evening of October 26, 2025, an exciting football game was held. It was the 7th round of the 2025 Hunan Football League (HNFL, also called "Xiangchao"). Yongzhou Team played at home against Changsha Team, and they finally tied 1-1. The Yongzhou Stadium was full of 15,758 fans, making the atmosphere lively. 

The game started at 8:15 pm. Changsha tried to control the ball, but Yongzhou wasn't scared—they played actively with home fans' support. In the 9th minute, a Yongzhou player took a long shot. Changsha's goalkeeper failed to hold the ball, and Yongzhou's Player No. 47 Lin Hao ran over to score! This was the first goal Changsha let in since the league began, showing Yongzhou's "never give up" spirit. Changsha tried hard to score back but couldn't, so Yongzhou led 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Changsha sent more attacking players to score. But Yongzhou's defense was strong—their goalkeeper made many great saves, showing how much he cared about the team. In the 79th minute, Changsha's substitute Player No. 66 Tan Xiang used his head to score, making the score 1-1. Later, Changsha's long shot hit the goal's crossbar, but they still couldn't take the lead. Even in the 11 minutes of extra time, both teams kept playing hard, showing football's spirit of perseverance.
