Song brocade (锦) is one of China's traditional brocades. This art once nearly , but thanks to Qian Xiaoping's help, it has become popular again now.
Qian Xiaoping as an engineer to protect silk artworks. Years ago, because of the possible loss of this art form, she to save Song brocade.
Her first challenge was to find Song brocade works. Luckily, she found one by chance, which later unlock its weaving(编织) secrets. Qian's second challenge was to rebuild a loom(织布机). There were different kinds of looms at that time, but none could produce the Song brocade designs.After solving many difficult problems, she successfully back Song brocade.
In 2006, Song brocade to China's national intangible cultural heritage list. Qian became its national-level inheritor in 2007. Since then, Qian many Song brocade artworks.
Now, Qian understands that cultural heritage must keep up with the times to survive(生存). So she has developed new ideas young people."If we don't make new designs, young people will not be interested in Song brocade," she says.
In 2023, Qian a training program and began to write books to pass on her skills.
