• 1、 阅读下面短文, 在空白处填入一个适当的词, 或填入括号中所给单词的正确形式。

Sometimes we get lost or need help. We might need to find the washroom, a bookstore, or the parking lot. In these( situation), it's important to know how to ask for help politely.

First, find someone who can help. Use polite ways to get ( someone) attention. You can start by saying "Pardon me. " or "Excuse me. "

Next, try to ask help. Say "Could you please tell me the way to the washroom?" or "Could you show me how to get to the mall?" Remember ( say) "please" and "thank you". These small words show respect.

Third, don't use direct questions, they are less polite. For example, you should ask "Could you tell me where the postcard section is? " instead of "Where is the postcard section?"

( four), if you didn't hear the answer, you can say,  "Pardon?" or "Could you repeat that, please?" They are ( good) than "What?"

Finally, try not to rush. Speak ( slow) and listen carefully. Most people ( be) happy to help if you ask politely.

In short, being kind and using correct words can help you get help you need. Asking for help is not just about what you ask. It also has something to do with how you ask.

  • 4、 阅读下面材料, 从文后所给的A-E五个选项中选出正确选项(其中一项是多余选项), 将其序号填入小题, 并回答小题。

When you ask someone a question in English, there are a lot of different phrases that will help you sound more polite. Here are some helpful tips on how to be polite when you ask questions or make requests!

If you speak with a low voice or don't change your inflection (变调), you may sound direct or unfriendly. Smiling while you're talking can help you naturally have a cheery tone.

    Let the other person speak.

As the person gives you their answer, give them your full attention.  Don't think of what to say next while the person is talking, or else you might miss important information they're giving you.

Do something to show that you're listening.

Turn your body toward the person you're talking to and slightly lean closer to show that you're interested in what they have to say. As they're talking, let them know that you're following the conversation.

Follow up the conversation with more questions.

If you want to continue the conversation, ask the person something else.  In this way, you can get more information. For example, if you ask "Could you please tell me where the nearest bus stop is?" and the person answers "On Main Street", you could then ask, " Would you mind telling me which direction that is?"

    A. Speak in a friendlier, higher tone (语气).

    B. Always think carefully about what to say next.

    C. You can even repeat things the person has said.

    D. Use their answer as a jumping-off point (出发点) for your next question.

    E. Wait until the person finishes answering so you can get their full answer.

How do you like to show you're polite—by not interrupting (打断) the speaker or by using a cheerful voice? Why?( Answer within 15 words)

  • 5、 阅读短文, 回答问题

Imagine sitting next to a stranger, both of you laughing at a funny video or feeling sad while watching something emotional (有感染力的). Could that moment make you feel more connected to him or her?According to a recent study, it might! Researchers found that sharing experiences with strong emotions can help people feel connected, especially when they can see each other.

In the study, scientists wanted to see how people feel when they watch emotional videos together. They asked people who didn't know each other to sit side by side and watch videos. The people sat 60 centimeters apart and looked at the same screen. They watched three different videos. One was funny, one was sad (a video about animals kept in small cages), and one was normal (a video of a library). In some pairs, the people could see each other, but in others, a curtain (帘子) was between them.

Before the videos, the people were asked how they felt and what they thought of the person sitting next to them. While watching, the scientists checked their heartbeats, breathing, and skin to see how strong their feelings were. After watching all three videos, the people answered more questions about their emotions and how they felt about their partner.

The study found something interesting. The funny and sad videos made people feel more than the library one. People who could see each other felt even stronger emotions. Most of all, the study showed that people felt more connected after watching emotional videos together—but only when they could see each other. This means sharing strong feelings, like laughing or feeling sad, can help people feel closer. It works even if they don't know each other.

So next time you see a funny or touching video, share it with someone. You might feel a little closer—or even make a new friend!

On April 10, a special museum opened in Shanxi. It is inside Shanxi Experimental Secondary School in Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi. This is the first museum in the province to be built on a school campus. It helps students learn about old buildings and Shanxi's rich history.

The museum is called the Ancient Architecture Campus Museum. It was made to help students understand the value of old buildings and learn how to protect them. A prelude exhibition titled "Ancient Architecture Technology Enters Campus" was also held. It used models, pictures, and digital tools to teach students in fun and easy ways.

One student at the school, Ren Hongye, helped as a guide. She said she was proud to share what she had learned about old Chinese buildings. She found that her school lessons came to life in the museum. Another student, Song Jiaqi, said she enjoyed using computers to explore ancient buildings. It made her feel proud of Shanxi.

The museum showed many exciting things. There was a model of the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, the tallest wooden tower in the world. A 3 D model of Foguang Temple in Wutai county, Xinzhou city was also shown. There were colorful statues of stars from Yuhuang Temple in Jincheng city too. These helped students touch, see, and play with history using technology.

At the opening, the school's principal said,  "I hope students will love Shanxi's culture and feel proud of it. " A culture expert, Lu Yi, said this museum was just the beginning. He hopes more schools will also build museums like this in the future. That way, more young people can learn about China's rich history and help protect it in the future.

Two months ago, I went to China to teach English. During those days, I found something different—one difference is how people break the ice in conversations. "Isn't the weather nice today?" is a typical question heard in daily life in the UK.

People in China have a habit of beginning conversations by asking questions like,  "Have you eaten yet?" Some might think this type of question is an invitation to lunch, but in fact, this is more of a greeting used to express concern for the person you're talking to. Although it's a question I'm still not used to being asked all the time, I think it's a really pleasant way to start conversations or to greet each other because it shows you care about the person you're talking to.

Although these two ways to start conversations may be different, the one thing they have in common is that the topics affect everybody in our daily life. Everyone can relate to things like the weather or food at different mealtimes. One of the best ways to break the ice in a conversation with someone new is to talk about things you and the other person might have in common. I'm not sure I'll be able to break the habit of talking about the weather, but surely I think I could get used to talking more about food, especially as it's so delicious in China!

(1)、Where does the writer come from?
    A、China. B、The UK. C、America. D、Australia.
(2)、Why do Chinese people often say "Have you eaten yet?" ____
A、Because they want to invite you to dinner. B、Because they'd like to greet you this way. C、Because they want to know if you're hungry. D、Because they want to play a joke on you.
(3)、What does the underlined word "topics" mean in the passage?
A、Places where we go for dinner. B、People we meet in daily life. C、Things we talk about in conversations. D、Questions we ask when we are hungry.
(4)、Why does the writer write this passage?
A、To explain why Chinese food is nice and delicious. B、To tell readers similar customs in the UK and in China. C、To show different ways of breaking the ice in conversations. D、To tell readers why English people care more about weather.
  • 8、 阅读短文, 回答问题

English people are quite polite. They even apologize for asking a question, for the bad weather or for a cough. They are probably the people who apologize most in the world.

English people use the word "sorry" quite a lot. Usually, if they want to ask a stranger about the time, they would say "sorry to bother you. Do you know what time it is?" If they're five minutes late for a meeting with someone, they would usually greet the person by saying "Sorry, I'm late!"

They use the word "sorry" in so many different situations that the meaning of the word has changed a little over time. The main dictionary meaning of "sorry" is "feeling sad or regret". But normally, when English people want to ask a stranger a question, they start with "sorry". In this situation, they don't really feel sad or regret.

So what does "sorry" really mean? And why do the English people use "sorry" so much? Well, in English culture, saying "sorry" is a way to be polite, especially to people who they don't know very well.

It's also a very clever way for English people to get what they want. In a study, a person asked different strangers if he could use their phones. When he asked one group of strangers without apologizing first, he was only successful in borrowing their phones 9% of the time. However, when he said "sorry" before asking, he was successful 47% of the time.

(1)、According to the passage, why might English people say "sorry" when they cough?
A、To ask someone for water. B、To show they are polite to others. C、To explain that they feel very sick. D、To stop people from looking at them.
(2)、Why is saying "sorry" called a "clever way" in the text?
A、Because it stops people from talking more. B、Because it makes people laugh at strangers. C、Because it shows someone is always wrong. D、Because it helps people get what they want more easily.
(3)、Which section of a magazine is the article most probably taken from?
    A、Culture. B、Health care. C、Sports news. D、Travel guide.

  • 19、阅读下面短文,在空格处填入一个适当的词或用括号中词语的正确形式填空,并将答案写在答题卡规定的位置上。

There is a saying that "honesty is the best policy". Tell the truth, and good things will happen. This is just the way it is.

Long ago, a (home) man was walking in a busy market. On the ground in front of him, he saw a leather purse. After (open) it, he found 100 shiny gold coins inside. The man was hungry. He had no home. He even wanted to keep the purse. (sudden), he heard the cry of a rich man. "I have lost my money bag," he shouted. "I offer a big reward to anyone finds it and returns it to me." The poor man gave the rich man back (he) money.

However, the rich man had other (plan). He opened the bag, (look) inside, and said, "There are only 100 gold coins inside. The purse I lost had 200 gold coins. You must have stolen the rest just now. You will have no reward from me." The beggar asked that they go to a judge (solve) the matter.

A wise judge heard both men tell what had happened. Then he said, "I think you are both telling the truth. Rich man, you said you had lost a purse containing 200 gold coins. the beggar found a purse containing only 100 gold coins. I know that purse can't be the one you lost, for you said it had 200 coins inside."

So the judge gave the purse the person who had found it, as no righteous owner had come forward to prove it was his. And that is why, in the end, honesty truly is the best policy.

  • 20、下面的材料A—F是六则如何与父母相处的建议。请根据Zoe,Judy,Nelson,Penny,Jamika五位同学来信中的困惑,为他们匹配合适的建议。

Zoe: I would love to talk to my parents more often, but sometimes they are too busy to listen to me patiently, which drives me mad.

Judy: I have no interest in talking with my parents at home. I never expect them to truly understand me, but they are not happy about it.

Nelson: I am afraid to talk to my parents. They are successful people, and I'm worried that my problems might seem like nothing to them.

Penny: I want to talk with my parents about things at school, but sometimes when I open my mouth, I forget what I wanted to say earlier.

Jamika: Sometimes I don't agree with my parents when they tell me what to do, and I talk back. But it always ends up in an argument.

    A. Honesty is important in any relationship. Be truthful about your everyday life and feelings. Remember not to tell lies to your parents!

    B. Why not do something fun with your parents, such as playing sports or watching a movie? Let the conversation happen naturally during the fun.

    C. Write down what you want to tell your parents. You don't have to prepare everything, but at least note down a few key points.

    D. Find the right time and place for communication. You may ask your parents if they have time before starting the conversation.

    E. It's normal to disagree with others, including your parents. But arguing is not the best choice. Try to calm down and deal with your own anger first.

F.Be brave and talk to your parents. Being successful means that they have a good understanding of how to deal with problems.
