李时珍与《本草纲目》

Li Shizhen was one of the most famous doctors in Chinese history. He was born in Hubei in 1518.

Both of Li Shizhen's father and grand—father were doctors. Li Shizhen's grandfather was a country doctor who travelled in the countryside with a bag of herbs(药草) and medications to cure(治愈) people. His father was a doctor who wrote several books.

Li Shizhen used to help his father in his medical practice when he was young. Li Shizhen's father wanted him to enter politics(从政). Li Shizhen studied for the exams and passed the county—level examination, but he was never able to pass the imperial examination.

Later, he cured the son of a Chu prince and was invited to be an official at that court.A few years later, he became an official at the Imperial Medical Institute.

Even though he fulfilled his father's dream, he didn't want to continue working for the court. One year later, he left the court and returned to his hometown.

Li Shizhen was famous for his book,Compendium of Materia Medica(《本草纲》). He spent about 27 years writing the book. Unluckily, Li Shizhen died before the book was officially published. It is such a successful book. Now it is still one of the most important medical books in China.

.People with flu usually get all the problems above. However, they also get a high fever, a dry cough and much worse aches. The problem also lasts much longer.Sometimes you can't get better for at least two weeks.

Flu can be a terrible thing. The old, who are less healthy than most young people,can die from flu. .The injection (注射)is necessary and can truly save them.

Try not to touch your nose or eyes if you have been close to someone who has a cold..If you catch a cold or the flu, go to bed for a while. Doing what we tell you will help you get better. Drink lots of water and stay in a warm, well-ventilated (通风条件好的)room. If you have a headache, take some medicine. And it's a good idea to cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze.

After exercising, the first thing that you want to do is drink up a glass of cold water.When the water travels down your throat, you will f so good. However, you'd better not do so often. Is drinking cold water (real) unhealthy?

Cold water is said to slow down a person's digestion(消化). Having cold water or a cold drink makes your body temperature (low) Cold water causes your blood vessels (血管) to become narrower (更狭窄的). So, the body needs to burn energy to bring your tback to normal. At the same time, less energy is used for digestion.

Think of your digestive system as a burning pot. If someone suddenly poured cold water into this pot, what would h? Doing this is dangerous. Similarly, when you drink cold water while eating, it is like adding water to a burning pot. Of course, it isn't that bad, but it is a good way (explain)why drinking cold water during meals may be a bad idea. Wyou cannot control your urge(冲动) to do so, drinking water at room temperature is a better  (choose).

Traditional Chinese medicine suggests trying to avoid (drink) cold water.And modern studies in Europe point out that drinking cold water causes headaches.Scientists are doing more research on this. Maybe in the future tcan give us more helpful information.
