One day, Alan and his younger brother were playing happily at home. Their mother, Elizabeth, was busy doing housework. However, something bad happened suddenly.

One day, my grandpa and I went to a supermarket to buy daily necessities. As I  looking at different foods, I begged(央求) my grandpa to buy me some snacks, but he refused. Finally, we bought some purple corn instead.

Grandpa boiled the corn until it turned soft and sweet  we arrived home. The wonderful smell made me immediately pick it up and start eating, it burned my mouth. Grandpa watched me and smiled. The taste was unforgettable.

I returned to Australia  . There I discovered the corn was white, small, and tasteless. My mom bought frozen purple corn from the supermarket, but I could hardly eat a bite—— it just wasn't the same. I found myself  the purple corn my grandpa used to cook. Every time I tried to eat it, I remembered how happy I felt when we cooked together. It reminded me of that simple, warm life we shared.
