Black Friday is a special day in the US. Things in most shops are on sale. People can buy different things at very very low prices. For example, they can even get a cooking pot (锅) at eight dollars. ____When the shops are open, they run into the shops and take what they want. Some people even sleep outside the shops to wait for the opening time. There are also flash sale (限时抢购) online. People can buy some very cheap things there.

In China, on November 11th, many things are on a big sale as well. Many people don't sleep early at night. They look for what they want on their phones or computers. And they can buy things at very good prices this night. People think they can save more if they buy more. 

Different countries have different activities for their big shopping days.

The African baobab tree is a symbol of life in the dry savannah (稀树草原). It provides shelter, food, and water for humans and many animals. El Hadji Salifou Ouedraogo has planted thousands of baobab trees over the past 47 years, and now he has a big forest of them. This forest helps his family, community (社区) and many animals to live better.

In his big baobab forest, there are more than 3,000 trees. These trees provide delicious fruit that has good stuff (东西) like vitamin C for animals like birds, lizards, monkeys, and even elephants. People can eat the fruit or make it into drinks, jam, or something like coffee.

Ouedraogo loves planting these special trees and using them in a way that helps everyone and everything. People all over the world look up to him and want to be like him to help the environment. He's like a nature hero!

Everyone needs help sometimes. People depend on (依靠) one another. That's why communities have special people ready to help people in need.

For example, what would we do without a community fire station? If a home catches fire, as the Jacksons' place did last week, it might be burned down (烧毁) and people might get hurt…or worse. We're so lucky to have firemen to come to save people and put out the fire safely.

And what about police officers? They protect our families, our homes and important things. The police have helped so many families this past year, especially saving people and pets and protecting our houses and other things after the heavy rain.

Think about all the other service workers in this community. There are cleaners to collect rubbish and keep our community sanitary. We have road workers and they put up and repair traffic signs and fix holes in the streets to protect not just us, but our cars! And what would this community be without the teachers in our school and the doctors and nurses in our community hospitals?

Think again about what we eat every day and what we wear every day. We cannot produce (生产) them, but we use them all the time. These tireless workers keep our community running. We get a lot from them and need them in the community. We depend on each other. Let's help each other. Only in this way can we make our community a better place.
