As a language learner, you are not alone. About 1.2 billion people are learning a foreign language. However, not all of them enjoy success. We talked to hundreds of successful language learners. They shared some of their habits (习惯) with us.
One key to long-term success is working towards the goal all the time. Most successful language learners make sure they spend a few minutes practicing every day. Some language learners practice their language only in class. In the long run, they improved less than those who practice daily.
The second habit of successful language learners is that they don't study too much or too long at a time. Instead, they study for a short period each time. And then after a break, they continue. Over a longer time, they make progress.

Tianzhu Mountain in Anhui is famous for its high cliffs (悬崖) and amazing sights.
But keeping this mountain clean is not easy. Tourists throw rubbish on the cliffs. Every day, a group of brave workers pick up the rubbish. They are called the "cliffside cleaners".
One worker is Tu Yousheng. He started to work here over 20 years ago. Every morning, he uses safety ropes, takes a rubbish bag, and climbs down the cliffs. The wind is strong, and the rocks are huge, but he carefully picks up every piece of rubbish. Sometimes, rubbish gets caught between rocks. He has to work hard to pull it out.
Tu grew up near Tianzhu Mountain. He loves it like his home. "This job is dangerous, but someone has to do it," he says. Over 20 years, Tu has climbed 2,800 km — as far as from Beijing to Urumqi! His team work in hot summers and cold winters but never stop.
Besides cleaning, Tu also teaches tourists about taking care of nature. When he sees tourists litter, he kindly asks them to stop and explains why it is important to keep nature clean. Many visitors listen to him and even help clean up. Thanks to these cleaners, Tianzhu Mountain stays beautiful. Their hard work reminds us to care for nature. Four Major Plateaus (四大高原) in China
Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is the largest plateau in China and the highest plateau in the world. It is about 2.5 million square kilometers in size. Its elevation (高度) is between 3,000 and 5,000 meters.
The second largest plateau in China, Inner Mongolian Plateau, is between 1,000 and 1,200 meters above sea level (海平面) in North China.
